- Here is a compilation of opening sequences from the old American soap opera 'Another World'.
The soap opera used a theme based on the Crystal Gayle and Gary Morris song "(You Take Me Away To) Another World", which they performed on the March 29, 1987 episode of the series as part of Gayle's appearance in the show. The episode that aired the next day, March 30, used an instrumental theme based on the song, and was used until October. That month, a longer version with lyrics debuted with new graphics that are filtered to be similar to brushstrokes, made presumably with the Quantel Paintbox. The childhood memories! The fact that after all these years I can sing the theme song and remember the words exactly, says a lot. RIP Anne Heche (Marley & Vicky Hudson).

I can still remember the day we got a VCR and ten year old me had to help my mother program the recording. This one, Guiding Light, and Days were her top favorites.
It was so bad my old man told me she used a sick day to watch the Luke and Laura wedding.
And RIP Ray Liotta (Joey Perrini).

This would come on TV right after I got off school in the 80s. This these song is so nostalgic. Would go to my grandmothers after school and sit with her while she watched her stories

Another world had three spinoffs one was called summerset and the next was Texas for sure.
I was hooked on Another World when I was a kid! always was my favorite soap! well, thst and Days Of Our Lives!
Thirty some years later I still remember this intro and show like it was yesterday. I wish they would air it again!
1988 and 87 I think are available online there was a lot of Vicki and Jamie I watch 1988 recently and Anne Heche was being bad on there just put in another world 1988 on TH-cam and most of that you should pop up

Growing up I can remember listening to this theme song before I take a nap every day after school. My mom would watch this. I have always enjoyed the theme song. It's like my personal lullaby. To this very day I will listen to it before I take a nap

Brings back a log of memories. My sister and l started watching this during our summer break in 1987 and got hooked for the next few years until the stories got a bit bland.

I love this and OLTL theme songs! Listening to them now makes me a little emotional and nostalgic. The 80's and 90's were a great time for soap operas. I need a time machine I'm ready to go back!

Man, the memories. I watched this and Days any time I was home from school and summer breaks.
This song is stuck in my head from my childhood as my mom watched and the enduring visual is that of Anne Heche. I don't remember much about her characters, but I certainly remember her and her as featured in this opening sequence.

I never watched this show or "Days", but Soap Opera songs from the 80's and 90s make me get immediate goosebumps all over my body. Such a better time. My grandmother would watch soaps during the day while helping to raise me while my single mother worked her ass off to support me. I absolutely loved my Mema. I miss those perfect days.

I remember some of these intros. I used to watch this, Days of Our Lives and General Hospital, when I was really young. That's only because I got home from nursery school and kindergarten, and I watched these with my mom.

This was second favorite Soap Opera. Santa Barbara was my absolute favorite.
My sister sent me this video and it quickly reminded me of when I used to tape this and other soaps on VHS for my sister and her friends to watch and catch up on during the weekends. I was the only one that knew how to properly work the VCR. I personally think that there needs to be an all soap opera streaming service with old episodes. The companies that hold all of the videotape libraries need to get them back out there and I know for a fact it would generate a ton of money.
They had this on the TV in my daycare during our naptime (other days, it was CBS' soaps).
Well CBS did the same thing they got rid of soap history like NBC did as well as ABC too ok.
I remember loving the theme song. So Wonderful. Rest in peace Anne Heche. So many great actors Linda Dano,stephen scnetzer. Judi evans Filming right in Brooklyn New york.

Wow, GREAT job compiling all of the different versions and variations of this iconic intro! I watched through the whole thing and there were so many cast shots I instantly remembered from the entire run of the Gayle/Morris intro.

Did you know that she did a couple of guests appearances on the show playing herself in one the episode s she fights off a serial killer and wins and she sang that theme song that's how they introduced it to the Audience when she sang it at Felicia restaurant
This song immediately brings me back to being 9 or 10 years old, being so intrigued by this show! Who shot Jake? Who is Felicia's daughter? Who fathered Vicki's son, Steven? Who will Marley sleep with this week? Will Iris steal the company from Mac? I would literally run from the bus into my house to catch the last 15 minutes of each episode. Can't imagine my 9 year old watching AW and loving it as much!

Such a huge part of my early years. AW was the only soap I watched on summer breaks, and in '94 I got a VCR for my B-Day so I could record it and watch it during the school year too! I stopped watching around '97 when all the changes kinda made it unwatchable, but now I wish I could watch it again.
Ikr. AW was not DAYS and it needed to be left alone to be what it was. NBC traded AW and Santa Barbara for crap shows that couldn't hold a candle to that lineup. Sorry passions and sunset beach fans.
That was best intro they should've have left it with this intro until the end of the soap.

Mac and Rachel. A true super couple. They had their flaws and remarriages, but always came back to each other. Wish they could have paired Rachel with Cass after Mac died, instead of Carl.

Not sure if I missing any soaps, but now it's pure talk shows(The Talk, Drew Barrymore, Kelly Clarkson, etc), reality, and game shows(family feud etc.) that are occupying the afternoon time slots that the soaps used to air. I believe Y&R, B&B, and General Hospital are the only soaps left airing. Really sad for fans of afternoon soap operas.

Mom's 2 soaps were Days and another world. I was sad when they canceled AW. I did watch the replacement passions, but felt it was too copycat with real headlines.
What happened starting in mid-1996 was the worst era in the soap’s history.
