      OH SNAP!!!! This idea better get SO MUCH hype! seeing the two of you hang out and do a friendly collaboration would be gnarly. meet up, and give a "Review" of each others cars and do a few "performance tests" This NEEDS to happen.

    I've been following you for awhile and have really enjoyed your videos. You're enthusiasm and passion is contagious and makes me proud to be part of the miata community. Your videos are currently helping me with an engine replacement on an 05 miata. I can't wait to the see the final results of your build. How is it that you don't already have 1 million+ subscribers already?! I live in Socal as well and the jokes you make about the cars or the sounds of your neighborhood crack me up. Keep up the good work. If you set up a patreon account, I would gladly contribute, as I think a lot of your other subsribers would as well. I hope to meet you at some point (once I resurrect my miata as well).

    I've built tons of AN lines and you pretty much hit the nail on the head. And now anyone on the internet can see how easy it is and stop paying out the ass to have shops make them a "line kit"... Mind if I ask which brands of line and fittings you were using?

  • @DannyCourtney1

  • @thomgt4
    @thomgt4 7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Another tip: don't cut on the edge of the tape, but right in the middle. You can then immediately use the excess side of the line again for the next line without the need for a cleanup.

    • @Lok1el
      @Lok1el 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Also, the end doesn't flay out as much, making it easier to insert in the barb.

    • @blablupp5669
      @blablupp5669 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Right, First use the electrician tape, then mark, then cut.

  • @grapeknutz
    @grapeknutz 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    What we used to do was to leave the tape on the line and then put the end piece on so you do not have to fight the "frayed " end when install the rear fitting , it just makes it easier to thread on.

      Use the fiber reinforced packing tape. Cut in the middle of the tape and leave it on while threading on the hose. This has worked well for me.

    i thank you Greg. I have been looking for a solid video on this subject an found some joke vids bout it. Again you have been helping me with my build an im pretty sure others as well why not post some fans build that u have been unkowingly helped. Idk if spelled right

    I legit needed this video like last week when my AN lines kept leaking because I wasn't assembling them correctly on my turbo miata setup haha

  • @ChristianChalliner
    @ChristianChalliner 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    If you go with the ptfe lined stuff that has the plastic coating around the outside of the braiding it’s much more of a pain in the ass to make the lines and to get the connector on the hose since the connector has to go much further along the hose. In that case you make the job much easier by sliding the connector on before you cut the hose.

  • @michaelmilberger9013
    @michaelmilberger9013 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    You really need to rinse out the hose with water or something once its all assembled. The rubber, nylon, and abrasive cut off wheel particles coat the inside of the hose after you cut it, and you REALLY don't want that in your engine.

    • @TheCarPassionChannel
      @TheCarPassionChannel  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      supercarmio I haven't used enough different brands to have a preference... These are pretty much all eBay purchases that are less expensive than mainstream sites like Summit etc so we'll see how they hold up! The whole line setup for my motor was only about $100.

    If you are using the stainkess steel hoses make sure wrap the tape tight and dont take it off or the steel will want to go back straight and you will never get the fitting on.

    You should get the PTFE lines. With standard AN braided hose you will get fuel smells through the rubber hose. I ordered all mine through anfittingsdirect and they even come coated with a outer layer which is very nice and good quality.

    Is it possible to push 500hp from miata 1.8 engine? Because i saw gingiums video, where he claims that fully built 1.8 (stroked to 1.9) can push high 400s or low 500s

    • @111dontworry
      @111dontworry 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's possible with enough boost and enough fuel. Just depends on how long you want it to last lol. At that level, miata transmissions are on their last legs and even the diffs have been known to fail around that limit.

    • @TheCarPassionChannel
      @TheCarPassionChannel  7 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Yes it's possible and it's already been done. It requires a fairly large turbo which will have tons of lag and the car will really only be good for highway pulls and drag racing. It also requires substantial drivetrain upgrades like a differential and transmission from other cars like Mustangs/BMW's/Chevy's etc, along with the custom fabrication to make those parts fit.

    • @paulius5017
      @paulius5017 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      TheCarPassionChannel oh okay i see, thanks for reply. But one thing is, his Miata isnt built for drag racing, he built it for circuit/autocross events, so good luck for him trying to control that car. Thanks for reply one more time!

    • @triggamusician
      @triggamusician 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      lol. "you can't really complain" and then coming up with the worst example in the world. That's like: "I'm hungry! Can I have one more sausage?" No and you can't complain. In Africa they only get sausages every six months and they have to stand in line for them for six days and don't you dare make you own ones. That's illegal!
      Miatas got quite expensive where I come from, too. Two years ago when I bought mine, I got lucky and hit the lowest point. Got it for €1650 (about $2000), now cars with about the same specs are about 3 times as expensive. Funny enough, the stock classic untinkered ones are cheaper and you could get them for around €3000.
