I gave up on myself and it’s been real hard to mentally get out there again. After listening to the intro, I automatically put my sneakers on and went out walking, listening and laughing. I feel so alive!!!! Can’t wait to do it again tomorrow. Thank you so much to the both of you. ❤❤

Love this! I have been down with a cold and chest is tender. I was listening to this and thought to myself, you need to get out for a walk to the ocean! The salt air always heals doesn't it? I am 60 and so grateful to be validated that I am on the right path. Hope to be skydiving in my 80's, too chicken right now! 😅

I love this episode, though its my first to watch you with your mother in Law JJ, i can see she's such a wonderful lady. I been doing most of her daily routine which i believe im happy doing them for happiness is the most important to aged guys like us. Though its been my desire to reach out for my friends and classmate from elementary to college, its after im done watching your interview with her i realised, that Yes, reaching out and connecting are the most important gesture we can do. ❤ and i admire you more, Mel coz i feel your respect and love for her. You both are amazing ladies. By the way i turned 68 years old last May a widow for 6 years and i want to live till 85 😅 hence im doing self care which i share to all my friends thru my vlogs. Feeling like I am now too old to do embark on a new career I am passionate about, too old to get my health back on track, too old for anything new. Watching and listening to Judith has changed my outlook completely.....I now feel revived and ambitious.....hopeful that I can still change my life. Thank you Judith for sharing your life and wonderful advice. Happy Early Birthday :) Can't wait to hear how you celebrated.

This was a brilliant episode Mel. At the age of 60, my life and body are changing faster than I realised and that gives a lot of food for thought. My mother is 81, she’s in London and each time I visit, I see her aging because of the lack of exercise. I went back to the UK in November 2021 to be with her because she had a skin cancer where she was going to lose her eye, they saved it. Then when I was ready to come back to the US, she broke her ankle, so I stayed another month. I got to see how important it is to keep up your strength and what happens to your body when you don’t. Your mother in law is lovely. Love watching your episodes, thank you for all the motivation😊🌸

This is a great Video. This brings back painful memories which i have been enduring. My relationship of 5 years ended 3 months ago. The love of my life decided to leave me, I really love her so much I can’t stop thinking about her, I’ve tried my very best to get her back in my life, but to no avail, I’m frustrated, I don’t see my life with anyone else. I’ve done my best to get rid of the thoughts of her, but I can’t, I don’t know why I’m saying this here, I really miss her and just can’t stop thinking about her.

And thank you Mel for having your mother in law on!! LOVED IT!!!! 😍 Mel, you are the BEST!!!! I love you!! You have said and had people on that has pulled me out of some pretty rough times! Making me not only feel that TG I’m not the only one on this planet going through this shit but to make sense of things!! ❤️🥰💕💗❣️💓💐🥰❤️ TY TY TY!!

I just listened to this podcast with your mother-in-law. I loved it. I'm not 86, but I'm over 60 now and I just made a move recently across country for no good reason. Except that now my new montray is, I'm not dead yet. I even got a personalized plate that says I'm not dead yethough. Other people don't understand you know, making the move. They questioned it but I never did and she validated me this morning. So glad you put the podcast out. There's still some things I can do to improve my life and make it happier but. I'm pretty darn, happy and happier than I've been my whole life. Just making decisions to stay in life and active and social. I must say, though I still carry a little resentment when people don't return my calls. And stuff like that. So I'm gonna try to work on that and let that go so anyway. Thanks so much to you and Judy for sharing this intimate story. I love it and i'm gonna keep listening

Words of wisdom 💯 my grandmother who lived to be 86 told me that if she realized how long she'd live that she would have taken better care of her body... which is sad because that means that she had assumed she'd die sooner, and what's the point. 👉No matter how long you live, MAKE IT WORTH LIVING👈 is my mantra 🙌 #Basic2Badass #KuntKoalition #RiseAndGrind THANK YOU 🙏 @MelRobbins for sharing the gem that is your MIL with us 💜

Judy reminds me so much of my mother, Barbara, who passed in 2019 in her mid 90’s.
She never stopped after my father died in his 60’s. She exercised, she traveled, she had her coffee in the morning and her scotch in the afternoon. Like Judy, she always looked much younger than her true age.
She kept friends and made dates. She enjoyed 6 children, 5 grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren before she passed.
I sent this podcast to all of them because Judy and Barbara are inspiring all of us to be our best selves. Thank you, Judy ❤❤❤

    Hi Mel,
Your mother is such an inspiration. I’m going to be 69 in October and feel much better now than in my 30’s and 40’s!
I take care of myself physically and mentally. Most people thought I am in my early 50’s. I’m a widow for 24 years now and I’m working part-time, 4 months out of the year as a tax professional. I greatly enjoy my independence, traveling, and close friendships with my new and old friends. I walk at the beach with friends every week. We had lunch and happy hours together often. I thank God every day for being healthy and happy. I try to stay away from negative and gossipy people. Thanks so much for your videos and interviews. You’re doing great ❤

This helped me a lot. I just turned 47 this month and am feeling very defeated in life. Where I am is nowhere near where I thought I'd be at this point. I'm hoping to take a massive leap of faith within the next couple of months and move to south TX from north central Arkansas to be near the ocean. Being there makes me so happy and peaceful. Moving 12+ hours from my son is a huge kicker on leaving.

Great podcast. At 65 I am retired and make it a point of connecting with at least one person besides my husband everyday,. I reach out to several Elders in our community as well. I have gotten to know my older siblings as well. There are 16 of us and now 11 are still living. So that's a library of knowledge. Connection is the most important thing.

What a fabulous Lady. Now this is what I call motivation to move, to be thankful every single day, to enjoy smoothies, to connect with family/friends, to make new friends, to listen more and to have fun. We read and hear this all of the time and are aware of what we should be doing but Your Mother in Law is so full of great advice because she actually talks the talk and looks truly amazing and content with her life. Why wouldn’t we be motivated by this super lady. It’s certainly done the trick for me. 😊😊 Thank you so much to both of you.

This is one of the most interesting - and moving - podcasts I’ve ever heard. There’s nothing like listening to someone talking about life who has 87 years of life experience! I’m 63 and find myself in an empty-nester situation with grandkids who live far so I don’t get to see them very often. So the advice of reaching out to people and trying new things is invaluable because it is so true, especially as we get older. Thank you for this tremendously inspiring podcast!

Judy is such an inspiration. I’m 82 and after my husbands passing I needed to reinvent my self as a single women. We were married nearly 60 yrs. It was the most difficult thing I’ve ever done. I totally stepped out of my comfort zone. I reached out to so many people that I didn’t know. I took classes, got a tattoo with my daughter. Mine is a butterfly. It means hope & new beginning. Each time I see a butterfly I think of him. I started a YT channel , Fashionista At 80. I make styling suggestions to women so they can present themselves in a positive way and be seen and heard. Some of us feel invisible as we age. I do this with thrifted clothing - saving the planet and our pocketbooks.
I am so grateful to you for these podcast. You are so authentic. Thanks so much for sharing your insight and your mother-in-law. ❤❤❤😢

I resonated with what you said about being focused on having a good time and not on studies in school. I’m more focus on growing and learning new things now. I LOVE this episode! As I'm in my mid-fifties, one of my own crusades is letting people (especially women) know that age is a number and the "aging experience" is OUR choice. I have a number of friends who are older in age than me, and yet have the same exact philosophy and joie de vivre! Judy reminds me of one of my FAVORITE people in the whole world; she just turned 84 and travels everywhere, has purpose, and nothing gets her down. She's one of my favorite people to travel with; 5 years ago, we went to Sedona, AZ together and hiked in the canyons together. Her latest birthday party had a dragon theme, we did temporary dragon tattoos, and she had a fire dancer perform, too... I laugh to say I'd probably rather go to her birthday party than the birthday party of people much, much younger... so much fun! She's another incredible person in her 80's, and I can't even list all the things she does or has done... just since she was ini her 50's! If you want someone else as a guest like this, I can definitely provide her info!
"I've always been pushing myself into something that's a little scary.... just a little push." I agree, 100%, regardless of age!

My petite 4'10" grandmother also was a "grazer" - she could pick on the same piece of chicken all day, and drink that one small pot of the most tasty coffee for hours - and she always had some cake with her coffee. She lived to be 100! She also would be outside shoveling snow or raking leaves, or walking to the next town over to catch the bus to Atlantic City.

I stopped working suddenly when Dr. closed practice not prepared for sure, married no children however but my dogs are very comforting to me., surprised a pet was never a option mentioned. Foster a pet can also help feel connected if not as social as Mel's Mother in law. I like being around like minded people that is the challenge to find after stop working. Would love more segments to help others with no children and family not close by. Also staying healthy is a crucial aspect for sure . Pets help me be present and feel purpose for sure.
