    Key takeaways:
    1. Our purpose is to live with one another. Connect with people.
    2. Live on a love mode. Remove yourself from a fear mode.
    3. Use all sensory organs to embed thoughts to create your narrative of your story (change default negative mode network)
    4. Tasks positive networks (salient-important to you) activates your attention
    4. Not let negative self talk. Understand it’s how humans are wired. Become self-aware. Accept your shadows. Separate yourself from it.
    5. Have compassion for yourself.
    6. Understanding what you want from want you need. Chase purpose and meaning.
    7. See the world with a lens of possibilities. Be appreciative.
    8. Find a calm place. Shift from fear mode to heart mode. All of us deserve second chances.
    9. Don’t be attached with the outcome. Be patient and grateful.
    10. Create the right mindset by meditation. Breathing exercises. Write the things you are thankful for and the things you want to manifest.
    Be authentic. Be present.

I was in dublin recently walking around the city and it struck me how nobody acknowleged or even smiled it was like i didn't exist - for the next 10 mins or so i started to feel incredibly sad - And then out of the blue a light switch went off in my mind - that the negatve self talk was just a mirror of myself. It was me who was ignoring everyone and not smiling at anyone and they were just reflecting back to me myself. This enlightenment had me beaming into a big smile and have a bounce in my step - and guess what happens next? Someone smiled at me ❤

What I love about Mel Robbins is her insistence on getting the guest to be specific, to give examples, and to repeat important points for the audience. That’s something most interviewers don’t do. She also asks questions I’d ask, if I were there. That’s gold.

Some years ago I left (divorced) a very toxic relationship, where I just "never measured up". I was repeatedly told how I just was not good enough. I took my 3 children, the cat & dog to start a new life. For many years it was not financially easy...to say the least.
Fast forward to today...I am in a better place emotionally & financially. Several times a month I will shop in a neighboring state...a state that has a " toll". I choose not to have a "speed pass" for tolls. I will pay my toll (a whole $1.00) & the toll for the next car through. This is so exciting for me. I never know who that next person is or how my whole dollar helps...it is just a buck. Just my way of saying to another "I love you, who ever you are".

I got a call from a person, who I dated for a very short time, like 15-20 years ago, and this person wanted to thank me for helping him get through this very difficult time he was going through at the time we were dating/hanging out together. At the time I was very serious about my running and I ran over 200 races and trained seriously everyday and I got him to be as serious as I was and he entered and ran races with me, and somehow through all of this hard core training etc it helped him and he called to tell me this, and it really blew my mind in a really good way!

This is funny because this was me yesterday thanking someone who just made it their job to speak to me everyday. I had just moved to a new city and this person lived on my street. Saw me everyday as l walked past their house to the bus stop. Them talking to me helped me stay in the present moment rather than the future. So we had not seen each other since 2020 after first lockdown, we moved to the next street. I sent them a thank you card and letting them know we had moved.

This. This. This. I'm sobbing too... But kind heartfelt sobs for those of us in the world that allow ourselves to be aware of our pain and those of others. I've always loved the quote "in a world where you can be anything, be kind"... And here on this podcast is two people doing just that, connecting to millions who feel the same. So if you're reading this, wherever you are (I'm in the UK), I'm sending the biggest heart felt hug... Life can feel so challenging but with love, support and kindness, magic can happen 💛

“People just want to be heard” is the exact thought that has been running through my mind. Nobody, not even your friends and family want to listen to your pain more than once. The “get over it” and “just move on” comments are like daggers to the heart.

And what is sad is those comments of “get over it” and “just move on” generally stem from them not being heard as well. It is an endless cycle that goes on like generational trauma. It’s about breaking that chain. There will always be someone willing to hear us! 🫶🏻

Absolutely, to connect in a deep authentic level with emotions and allowing people to be themselves. I ❤Jim, his heart and being authentic to show how much this means to him. In my upper 50s I am now becoming my authentic self and I love to cry and show emotions now, always stuffed them. I show my soul to others and that really connects to others going through issues. ❤

Can we reword it in a more gentle way by saying, “Let’s create new memories!” “I think you have what it takes to overcome or decrease your negative thoughts that cause a catatonic posture for you.” “Can we suggest books, affirmations, wise words?” It’s saying get over it but not in those words??? Is the sentiment a negative or a positive?? Guess it’s in the mind/behavior of the individual!!!

They saw my sensitivity as a weakness, and it's taken until now, aged 44, to see it as a quality to be proud of. I hope that I somehow help others feel seen, heard and that they belong. ❤❤❤

I don’t know how many times I’ve looked in the mirror and angrily stated, “Stop crying, you’re such a ….” Yes, every word you’d place in the blank. Harsh on purpose.
I’ve recently had an occurrence where I balled for nearly FOUR hours!!!!! On fell to my knees with snot bubbles and exhaustion. Yes, four hours with seconds of relief at times.
Holy hell. I was so scared. Truly.
I cry much more since then and I laugh in between cries bc it feels so great! I must look like a serious lifelong mental patient. Ehhh… what ya gonna do!

@ yes let it out. As a female I don’t even see a man less masculine. In southern culture children are told stop crying or I’ll give you something to cry about. I have bipolar 1 and been stable for a number of years but I’ve used many a box of tissue. lol It’s so much healthier to cry it out because it’ll just bury itself in the deep subconscious and can manifest to health problems or anger issues etc.

My husband had a cardiac appointment this past Tuesday...I came to this yesterday, (takes a while to keep up with you Mel!) The cardiologist told us about Dr. James Doty and his books on Tuesday, so I picked his first book up from the library on Thursday. Listening to this validates so much work that I have done, and gives me vision for the future. You are an amazing interviewer, by asking such great questions, and he was so authentic and real, that is proved to me that there are good, caring and compassionate people in the world. So grateful that my own questioning of beliefs (from a timeline) and willingness to see things differently has placed me in a whole new place full of possibility and opportunity. #thebodyjoyful

A lot of people are lonely or going through something or maybe having a rough day. And sometimes I am and someone's kindness pulls me out of my own head. It is a powerful thing to spread love to others. Listen to a piece of their story and offer them some of yours. ❤ Humanity is a hopeful place. What a beautiful soul Dr. Doty is. I was nearly in tears within the first few minutes as his compassion and empathy are genuinely palpable. As a Christian, I have been interested in manifestation, but reluctant to practice it because of all the woo that he addressed. I loved the simplified concepts of Fear-Mode and Heart-Mode as it made me think of the passage, “Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus”. I’ve also heard it said that anxiety and gratitude cannot exist in the same brain at the same time, which totally resonates with the idea of us living either within our para-sympathetic and sympathetic nervous systems.
I couldn’t help to also think of this verse, “By faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that the things which are seen were not made of things which are visible.” very much the same as bringing the things of our conscious or subconscious minds into the reality of our worlds.
Thank you so much for this talk. It means the world to me and I am greatly appreciative. 🙏❤

I lost my dog three years ago, covid happened and by business failed at 32. My mom passed away 1.5 years ago and I started smoking cigarettes 8 months ago. Like a damn crazed teenager. Ha! I know what I want, I know how to get there but I’m holding myself back out of fearful thinking and self-doubt. When I want to take action and carve out time for my passions, I am overcome with fear about not being good enough and “Who do I think I am to achieve such a massive accomplishment?!” I’ve struggled with confidence my whole life, being the youngest of 4 to two alcoholics. I am strong and have achieved goals I never thought possible before. Why can’t I do it again?! Why not?! I deserve to have happiness and confidence and it’s not selfish or arrogant to do so. Everyone - including him - told me they would have left. I love him with every cell of my body, but I struggle with hope for our future. I remember my sister saying, when we were about 19/20, "What right have you to be happy?!" while mother laughed. That was 50 years of my life....

My ex-husband married me because he thought I was pretty. Not a good reason to marry someone. I can honestly say, that no one has ever loved me. Maybe because I don’t love myself.

"Become centered in self and not self centered" is one of my take-aways and will remind my kids this.
I came to the realization that true change happens from the inside out. It comes from the heart. (heart mode) Forced change either by self or an outside source happens from the outside in. This is not lasting and often creates fear. (fear mode) Mel and Dr. Doty helped me to piece even more of it all together... and frankly reminded me in time I got lost in the weeds of my own life again. I love learning truth because it adds fullness and understanding to the truths already in ones life. Thank you for this!!!!!!

I had a wonderful career. I was able to make people feel safe, calm & feel good about themselves, even if it's just for 1 hr. My job? I am a retired Aesthetician (worked in a big resort spa). Not anything "big". But I felt it was my calling all the way thru me. Now, I'm not able to physically keep up with the pace of the work - I did all kinds of things: body treatments, facials, etc., etc., etc.! Unless you see it, you cannot understand the physicality required! Laying my hands on a body, I was able to show how I cared. Now I'm practicing Reiki for people & animals. I've learned so much about the world beyond us. I still miss the caring touch that I was able to give, because you don't lay hands on a person when using Reiki. I miss my calling!

It didn't worry me I just decided to start again but I must say from that day I felt as though my husband was devastated and it left him uninpowered. I just decided that we have a roof over our head and I can make cheap meals with what we had plus people just gave us food without us asking for it but we had always been kind to others and it rubs off on us but from that day I don't worry about material possessions at all. I feel ya my friend. I grew up in a toxic family. Alcoholic father and undiagnosed autistic bi-polor mother. Once I ran away at 10yo and peeled my bike from Gatlinburg,TN to Alabama somewhere. Took like 3 days. I just had a Forest Gump moment. Anyway, After a life of drug & alcohol abuse my kidneys finally shut down. I laid on the floor of my New Orleans apartment dying. All of a sudden I was looking down at my body. Of course, I lived but everything changed. I was positive we go on after death and we are all connected. We are spiritual beings. I gained a faith I had never had before. All the fear in my life was gone. I quit living in the fight or flight response anymore. This allowed my depression to lift. I started doing meditation & BREATH WORK. WELL,,, About 6 months into these practices I did a guided meditation for 3rd eye chakra and the lid blew off my pineal gland. All of this was a year ago. I listen to the universe and it always tells me "The more good works I do and the less I judge I will manifest good things into my life. That is all I ever ask for. Please let me live my life with gratitude and joy while helping as many I as can. Peace and love y'all

This man is incredibly beautiful. The funny thing is, this video appeared at just the right time in my life. I’m feeling completely miserable - I'm still young (33 years old), but it feels like I've failed in nearly every area. I graduated in a field that wasn’t right for me, started a business as an illustrator an 3D artist, but then lost motivation. That business is now basically dead (I still create illustrations, but the money isn’t coming in). I let anger damage my relationships with good people and missed out on other great business opportunities. I smoked too much w, drank too much, and fueled the anger even more, and now I’m at a breaking point. I’m honestly not sure how to keep going. But this video gave me some hope. I want to change and become a better person. I’ll try to reach out to the people I truly care about and connect with them more deeply. I’ll also work on staying quiet during this process-I feel like my words can sometimes be toxic. It’s time to start healing. If you have any advice how to improve myself and people around me, let's talk!

Years later, Found the notebook again. Opened it and read the goals I had written years before. I was amazed at how many goals I had achieved. Some were long term goals reached in the mid term goals category. Some were mid term, reached in the short term. Some were not reached at all. 3/4s of my goals were reached. I don't know what moved me to write the goals down, but I tell everyone what I did, and it works. Strange looks have come my way for sure. But Yes, It does Work. I'm now retired. I shed a tear watching this. I have experienced most of what this man has experienced. And still experiencing trauma at age 64....what i would love to know is...1. When one changes mindset, how long does your manifestation take to come to life? And 2. Why does negativity manifest at super speed when something good/positive can take a long time, or never?

    • @LindaKayHolevas
      @LindaKayHolevas 28 วันที่ผ่านมา +11

Manifestations can take years once you’ve changed your mindset because changing your mindset is a continuous process because limiting beliefs are constantly coming up. This is why the negative energy seems to go at super speed because it’s our inner talk for most of us. It takes 17 seconds for a thought to join with another thought (law of attraction) & it goes from there. Most of us really need to practice positive thoughts so more positive thoughts can join them. It takes time to stop the negative thought cycle. I know this because 7 years ago I was addicted to pain pills & had lost everything. I started a mindfulness practice, got sober & have now been sober for 6.5 years. I have a beautiful relationship with my children & family (I’m almost 60), I live in a beautiful apartment, drive a nice car, etc, but most importantly, I am at peace & I am truly happy. It took work though. I started with meditating every day, then I started walking at least 4 miles every day & it went from there. I hope this helps answer your questions! I am sending you so much love & light. 🥰

I came upon this importance of what we want to manifest being important. I weighed 386 pounds, and made it important that I lose my weight. I did it, because I made beating my weight, which was also overcoming my negative that kept me from losing it. I have lost almost 200 pounds of the weight. Another thing that's important to know is that we dedicate all we have to one manifestation at a time. We will in manifesting one thing, will manifeste other things to. Twenty six years ago I was diagnosed with copd, stage one of four. Today, I am still Stage one, I haven't beat copd YET but I still live a fairly normal life. I climb hills even mountains. I 100% believe that's because of my mindset and of course mindfulness practice.

‘Changing suffering’ is what he’s talking about. There is no material item or attainment that will lead to lasting happiness. If you get the car, eventually it will need repair. If you stand too long, eventually you’ll need to sit. True happiness can only be found in the mind. And the path to that is compassion. This is a beautiful talk ❤

The power of beliefs is super important. I recently made a friend who is extremely negative .... due to their limiting beliefs, they will not even take the actions toward steps that could bring them success. Their limiting beliefs literally limit them from pursuing SO MANY opportunities. Yet they always blame others instead of seeing their own limiting beliefs are holding them back. So at the very least, I can see the benefits of working on affirmations that change your beliefs from negative to positive - how this can have major impacts to your life in a positive way.

I stopped smoking by manifesting how my body felt before I started smoking. I fell asleep every night just feeling how I felt before I ever smoked. I chose this time right before sleep because I learned somewhere that whatever I was thinking about when falling asleep, my subconscious would continue it all night. Well, listening to Dr Doty, I see how the I embedded my intention. I remember reading about Neuro pathways and habits in a book by Paramahansa Yogananda. Let me tell you how good this worked. I practiced this for about a year. Then one morning I woke up and I knew immediately I was changed. I felt exactly how I felt before I ever smoked. Before that morning, I would wake up congested and coughing and reaching for a cigarette right away. When I attempted to quit smoking in the past, it took 3 weeks for my lungs to clear out. When I woke up and could breathe clearly, I knew I didn’t want a cigarette. I never had another craving. I am so, so thankful for manifestation. Thank you for having Dr Doty on to help fill in the blanks and break down the steps for manifestation. ❤
