This guy always knows what cameras to compare 👏
What matters most is different for different people.
For me, the flip-out screen is mandatory.
This actually came out at the right time. I've kind of been eyeing the R50.
Thank you so much! This was SO helpful.
Damn bro, great comparison vid. Perfect length and just the info we need without fluff.
What a good introduction for those cameras, they are all great, and i think it is depends what you type in terms of photography. Great share bro.
fantastic review, so helpful! I subscribed after this video.
Buying dslr lens collection is a must. Adapt to any system is pure flexibility.
Very helpful. Thank you!
Really informative, thanks!
Great info thanks
Bro this is dope. Thank you
Thank you for in-depth review for r50 have eye on this camera .
Great information.
The battery and flip out touchscreen sold me on the R50 thank you for the link!
are u satisfied? I am getting one next week
Superb analysis dear
I was about to buy the r100, but I decided to buy the r50 for my daughters when I saw your video.
Thank you
This was very helpful!
Glad it was helpful!
I really enjoyed this video and it was very helpful
Glad it was helpful!
This video was helpful. This solidifies my decision to get the r100 and rig it out 😂
Thanks a lot for this video... I gonna get the Canon R50 now. 😉
Watching from Nigeria 🇳🇬
This is exactly what a review should be like- informative and easy to understand!
I have one question regarding the R50. Will usb charing work if you plug it into your car's usb port?
As it needs a PD standard it almost certainly won't. At least I haven't seen any car with PD USB port.
Super helpful video! Been contemplating between the M50 and R50 as I'm looking to take up photography as a hobby. I think I'll be going for the M50 since I wanna start with urban portrait photography. 😄
for just photography m50 is the best choice, best wishes for your new start with urban portrait photography
Great video. Very helpful.
Glad it was helpful!
Amazing video, I was actually debating between the r100 or to spend a little bit more in the r50.
I haven't used a flip and touch screen, Im upgrading from a Rebel t6 so I wasn't considering that, but the USB C charging is definitely something I would love to have, not to mention the improved autofocus and the added 4k video quality.
Thanks for this comparison, I've decided to get the r50.
Oh sweet. I was waiting for this one. :-D
Thanks!
Think I've made up my mind after watching this video, I'll be getting the R50!
There is another big difference between R100 and R50, that R100 uses the old processor of canon, so currently it doesn't have any firmware updates and also is not working with the control ring of the RF mount lenses.
This has cleared my doubts, i was torn between buying m50 or rs 100.....i go for m50. As i save for r50.
Thanks for such a good review.
you kinda like me tired putting on adaptor for m50 lol .r50 has plug in charging real 4k no crop
My 250D enters the chat, but yea. Good comparison. The image quality is basically pretty same for all these cameras and also for my 250D. I'm probably gonna go for the R50 or the R10 in the future when upgrading to mirrorless. R50 seems like a really good choice and the only real reason I would go for the R10 is faster continuos shooting. Of course there's some other benefits too.
Tank you very much
Finally i purchased R50 today after watching your video... Thank you 👍🏻
Enjoy it!
What is best for photo and video?
For anyone who shoots video primarily at 1080p (like me) and does street photography , R100 is a steal (along with RF 16mm thats 25mm on cropped , kit lens is crap)
What if you want to start getting into 4K videos?
Im planning to get it to mainly live stream&record some times
Which one is better “same price” 250d OR R100 ?
I'm in the process of leaving my M system for an R7. I already have a strong R ff kit, so having all of those lenses available is great. However, I will miss the smaller form factor of the M for hiking and "grab and go," and Canon seems shy about giving us nice RF-S lenses. We know it can be done. I have really enjoyed my EF-M 11-22mm, and in particular, the very lovely EF-M 32mm f/1.4.
I’m confused why you would leave a system behind that you seem to love? If it still has use and value to you why would you leave it? I have the R7 in addition to the M50. They compliment each other. I just got the 32mm and I’m IN LOVE with that lens.
It looks like Canon is starting to add more to the RF-S system like the new 10-18mm, but I would love to see some tiny RF-S primes!
@@FoxTailWhipz Me too! I'll likely get the 10-18mm for my hiking pack, but the build quality doesn't look like it's up to the level of the EF-M 11-22mm with a metal mount. We'll see!
@@DeSireeAlicea19 The 32 mm is a wonderful lens. But, the R7 runs circles around my M5 for birding, and I really don't want 3 camera bodies. To replace the 32mm in the line-up, I've purchased the RF 35mm f/1.8. Add IS, IBIS, and a decent performance, I'm pretty pleased. Though, we know that Canon can make smaller, well-performing prime lenses for APS-C, so here's hoping they remember that, or let 3rd party folk fill the gap.
Have been using the M5 since it launched. I realy don't see the newer R models bring anything tempting to the table, Maybe for video, but I don't do that... I suppose I will use my M5 with the Sigma 16, 30 and 56 for many years to come.
It basically took Fox 15 minutes to tell you to save up for the R50, the other two are frankly a waste of time and poor value.
already have m50 love it but R50 better specs for price ya im getting it
Definitely going to have to upgrade to the R50 after getting my feet wet with my M50!
I had an M50m2. I think it is a superb camera. Now I bought an R10 (not R100). It is like night and day. The R50 may be slightly less capable but you will still be amazed.
I have the R100. Takes much sharper pics than my bridge camera in low light. Pity it doesn't have touch screen focus though. Kinda guesswork with focussing.
Also , I keep accidentally turning the mode button with my thumb, because it's so small.
Is the R50 the best out of all three for photography? I’m thinking about getting the Nikon Z5 for photography and then grabbing the R50 for video .
If you're not using it for photography then why don't you get a camera that's specifically catered towards video, like a black magic.
If you’re grabbing something specifically for video, you probably would prefer buying something from Sony.
I would suggest getting the eos R8 for both photography and videography ... Canon excels both , and you could use rest of the money to get a few L series lenses
from 700d to r50 i love the AF of R50
R50 is a beast
Honestly it was between the r50 or the Sony ZV-1 m2 for me.. and after about 2 weeks of research it looks like the r50 wins outright as they're the same price where I am.
You forgot to mention one detail - Canon locks out third-party vendors in R lenses market - so no new lenses for whatever Canon you chose outside Canon themselves. That's quite important for budget market. I myself as M50 & M50II shooter considered upgrading to R50, but this alone is a total deal-breaker, plus now there's that hot-shoe nonsense you mentioned and I didn't know about.
I think Canon is in talks with third party lens manufacturers, so we’ll see how that turns out
@@awii.neocities Yes, they confirmed. But that's far from having any lens at hand. We don't know if there will be a deal, if that will have financial implications, how many manufacturers will get permission… At the moment everyone else is still locked out.
Touchscreen is MANDATORY in the 2020's..we're not in 2010 anymore
Which camera having touch screen?
@@Publicchannel5 which camera doesn't? like genuinely besides this one which relatively new ones don't have a touchscreen camera?
Speak for yourself, it definitely doesn’t matter for a lot of people especially at that price
Well I've over 70K shutter count on my Rebel SL2 (I shoot videos at events too) , and I hardly use the touchscreen ever ...
@@tranquility6789 A few entry level Canon cameras and one entry level Nikon still don't have touchscreen in 2024 , they get sold like hotcakes
I am considering getting a canon R50 for my first real camera however I will not be doing any vlogging.... I will be using mostly for wildlife and sports photography and for vacation photos. I will be taking some video but probably not too much. Would you still recommend the R50? Is there a better choice in the same price range you might recommend ?
I would recommend the Canon R10 for your wildlife and sports photography - faster shutter. Two cons to this camera: battery life is not good and the camera is not weather sealed.
@@justin-cx7ni thanks for the feedback!
you got get camera right for you i content creator and do photography balance
Would any of these cameras work for sports photography?
Yes out of these 3 the R50 will be the best for sports photography!
Yeah, the M50 is the way to go. The R 50 isn't enough of an upgrade because the lens selection is pretty lame. And if you're at a budget, then the R mount is intended to limit you because it has no 3rd party support.
Hello sir, i am planning to buy a camera which is best for me m50 or R100
I say m50
I'd prefer buying M50 even in 2024 cuz I need two things :
- hotshoe pins
- third party lens support
Canon doesn't offer these two in R50
What about the M50 MARK 2?
It's a very slight update on the Mk1. Improved autofocus, but 4k video still poor. Just get the R50 and don't waste time.
@@MohsinWadee alright I see cool thanks I initially wanted the M50 but decided between the R10 or R50
So for a product photographer, the flash mount won't be useful for studio strobes in R50, and among the 3 the best option appears to be R100, because the screen factor will also not count much.
Thanks. You helped me save some money going searching for a way to fix flash issue - had someone have same issue with 200D II, and I know the pain.
The R50 is basically an M50 Mk III with an R mount instead of an M mount.
I wish it was M50III, but yeah - they re-sealed it into R-mount body.
Not quite - it has uncropped 4k/30fps video, unlike any M50, has vastly superior autofocus, and is faster. Don't waste your time and just get the R50. Unless you're a real tightwad, in which case stick with your phone. Seriously.
is it just m50 or m50 mark ii
Any model would do the job ... Both cameras are the same , the mark 2 has a few software upgrades but that's it ... If you want M50 , get the mark 1 ... Mark 2 isn't worth the extra cost ...
How to charge R50 baterry directly Using Type C cable?
Make sure you have a PD (power delivery) usb brick and a genuine Canon battery in the camera and it should charge right up.
The r50 and r100 were created to make people forget how much of a value the m50 was for what it offered. It’s to re-establish in the customers mind what that price point gets you these days and are made to force you into the r7.
Between this and canons lack of FFthird party support I’m getting real sick of canon . Coming from an r7 and r6 mark 2 owner
but why are you comparing a discontinued model????
M50 and other EF-M cameras look better and more modern in terms of design than these new RF-S cameras.
The terrible cropped video and lousy autofocus on the M50 get destroyed by the R50.
@@LakeHowellDigitalVideo I'm talking about the design. Of course, the new and ugly R50 has better auto focus and updated specs. Don't be so slow. 😂
I really don't know what was Canon thinking releasing the R100 with a screen that is fixed and with no touch features.
If it had it it would have been a cheap way to get into the RF ecosystem with an M50 equivelent camera, but I guess they just hate their userbase and either want them to get into a dead system or increase their budget.
I'm sure it would have been cheaper to make the R100 with a touch fully articulable screen too. Right now they need a new mold for the back panel with a fixed screen, having a fully articulable one would have mean that they could re-use the entire R50 body. And they could put the M50 LCD panel in there if they really wanted to save cost. Would have been better for everybody.
purely a product segmentation move. really sucks
Well not everyone is a videographer , I know people who never uses the touchscreen , forget the tilt screen ... R100 is great for amateur video and street photography ... Remember , eos 1500D and 3000D still get sold like hotcakes despite having no touch or tilt screen , 3fps continuous shooting , 15 years old processor ... R100 clearly offers more ...
@@asgelwkyi yes but I'd get an M50 instead. More lenses (and smaller ones at that), cheaper, touch screen ect. The M50 without a touche screen was miserable even for photography, even just to use touch to track features or to move the focus point, interact with the quick menu ect. I can't imagine the R100 being nice to use
Until today I dont even know why they bring such camera as r100
I still dont know the reason canon abandoned M mount😅
I'm changing my camera soon and have a budget of 700, do you think R50 is better for me, I work on TH-cam
Yes the R50 is one of the best cameras at that price point! It’ll be great for TH-cam with the RF 16mm f2.8 or the new RF 10-18mm.
Thanks for convincing me to avoid Canon with extreme prejudice. First, they outlaw third party lenses. Second, they change the mount format with the new R series. Then they make it expensive and inconvenient to use third party flashes. This is a company that hates and disrespects its customers and deserves to fail. I will be pursuing other options.
Here’s Summaries
M50 for Vlogging and Pictures
R50 for Vlogging ( not for Pictures due to lack of hotshoe)
R100 for Pictures
The R100 is the worst camera of 2023, pure garbage. The M100 was actually a great camera but the R100 is pure crap.
M100 is good. I have Canon R7 and I use M100 for daily use
@@IndyVisuals I wanted the r7 but think I'm going to do r50
@@maryandreadavis R7 is a lot better than the R50. But it depends on your use and budget.
Good think I went with the lumix g 100 for 400$ open box ,, great for learning with my first manual camera coming off a Sony camcorder not to mention I’m getting the sigma 15 mm asap as my first lens I’m buying
bro prove your point 💀
If the Canon was better than Sony, He would be using another Canon to film this video!
The right choice would be anything but Canon 😂
Why though?
Its better to go with Sony, plenty of lenses, third party lenses, more options, same mount since 2010 more or less...
Sony doesn’t really make many photography cameras at this price point.
If you’re vlogging, of course go with Sony, but if not, go with the R50.
hey bro can you please donate the R50 to me
not a lot of improvement after 4 years at budget level
Basically they are all the same - overpriced and packed with usless junk
