I invested into the EOS M and M50, along with their lenses and speedbooster for ef lenses. It seems like the R100 and RF mounts are the way they're going, and I feel like I've invested into a dead end with the EF-M system :3
Yeh I feel you here … I did the same things with the M mount cameras - absolutely loved my M50 … but Canon wanted to align everything to RF - like Sonys E mount. You can still pick up some interesting lenses for the M series though 👍👍
Cool video. This camera with some L glass will produce great photos. It's a no brainer for $299 on sale right now, thats cheaper than most lenses. I'll be using it on a fashion shoot for a fairly well known magazine tomorrow, along with the RF 50 f/1.2 and filming it. Going to make a video showing if you can do a "professional" photo shoot with Canon's cheapest RF camera. Fun stuff.
I am in the ecosystem trap but I have no complaints. I literally bought the r100 because I have all of these old EF lenses, and then I'm going to upgrade to a multi-thousand dollar Canon in a year or two because I have all of these RF lenses. But I love Canon.
Would that be a good fit for social media content creation for businesses? It for sure covers all my photography needs to produce content for my clients but the video is what holds me back from buying it. Is the 4k AF that bad to the point it would be a pain the ass to create reels and b-rolls using this camera? I would be pairing it with a canon rf 35mm f1.8 lens
I dont get the ecosystem trap thing, what makes it a trap? Are you suggesting they shouldnt have interchangable lenses on their cheap cameras, or should we have a dedicated mount for every camera? Seems like a good thing that all new canon lenses work on all new canon cameras, and my understanding is this is how fuji and sony do things too.
The main reason we talk about it being a trap was that Canon had not allowed third parties to create lenses for the RF mount for the longest while - which means we either had to go RF or use the Ef adapter - no cheaper third party options - this has been changed up now so cheaper options have been allowed to be developed
@@KaiCreative But are the other lens expensive for r100? Cus i heard its got newer mount and 1500d acn use old lens? Is there any adaptor for RF to EF lens mount?
Big question. I currently have a Sony ZV-1F. Is it worth the time and effort selling my current camera for an R100? Also does the R100 record in RAW format? My main focus is for recording future promo videos for my clothing line and promo photos. My Sony has really good video quality for vlogging but I feel like that’s something I can record on my iPhone.
I was cross shopping between the two, as they were around the same price during a sale. The R100 does not support RAW Video. It barely supports 4K (only 24FPS, with a significant crop). Reasons I chose the R100: USB Type C port (although it does not charge with it, better for data) Bigger sensor EVF Interchangeable lenses, canon just opened up their mount for third party lenses, good cheaper lenses will be available. Better battery life. [Overall, the R100 is much better for photography, and for 1080p video] Reasons you may want to keep ZV1: Tilty screen MUCH Smaller camera
Avoid or you will be really disapointed shame on canon for wrapping it around old m tech bodies and selling it as R probably to palm off a load of old stock all three including r50 and Rp entry models are just lumps of plastic rubbish not worth putting expensive r lenses on and you will be stuck with the same three m type lenses. sony olympus and panasonic have superior features for the same price
Uh huh, the R100 is selling for $250 to $300 brand new on eBay. The R100 is an excellent photography camera. You can buy an R100 and a couple lenses for the price of the cheapest Sony body.
The R100 is hot trash. Canon crippled the crap out of it. Every example photo and video used in this review looked bad. I wish Canon would stop boing such pricks and actually give us an entry level camera that was good.
You think the photos at 1:00 and 1:02 look bad? Pretty dumb trashing a fellow TH-camr for their opinions and trashing their work. If you cant get quality photos with this camera, it's your skills that are hot trash. As for the camera, It's based on the T100, one of Canon's best selling cameras ever. The R100 is one of the best selling cameras out right now. You dont understand business at all. Try finding another new mirrorless camera anywhere close to the $299 it's selling for right now. Thats less expensive than most lenses lol.
Why are you comparing the mirrorless R100 to the DSLR 5D mark 4?Compare all mirrorless cameras even slightly on the top model R50 shoots 12 frames per second.Compare mirrorless to mirrorless cameras even slightly on the next model the R50 shoots 12fps.Yes, the R100 is the cheapest and cutest model of all the mirrorless. But it's well worth picking up the next R50.There are quite a few improvements over the R100. You are slightly wrong about the ecosystem trap.Whichever brand you settle on and start buying lenses, you'll stick with it.Canon's problem is that they don't allow others to make lenses for RF mounts. They recently allowed Sigma and Tamaron to make lenses but only for cameras with aps-c sensors. And Canon, since they recently had this RF bayonet, does not have a very good choice for budget lenses.Fortunately, old EF and EF-S lenses can be used with an adapter.Personally, if I had to get R100, I'd rather get a second-hand 80-90D type DSLR.I personally was looking to replace my old 550D and was wondering which one to get. Out of the three R100, R50 and R10, as a budget solution I settled on the R50.The R100 was dropped immediately and the R10 was dropped because it's quite a bit more expensive than the R50 and doesn't offer as many improvements over the R50.But lucky me I found a second hand R10 at a pretty good price and now I'm waiting for it to arrive. :) But my biggest question was whether to stay with Canon, which I've been using for over 13 years, or switch to Sony.
What are your thoughts on the Canon R100? Worth it or not? Will you get one or skip??

So you can use old Canon glass on this? I have ef lenses.

If you plan to shoot planned shoots on a tripod with manual focus like in a studio - possible with help then I would say so

Ive bought the R10 and would buy it again. The R10 is just a beast of a camera (for that price).
R10 is a great camera 💪
The m50 is still king 🕺🕺
Haha, Yes the M50 is a beautiful camera, lots of similarities with the R100 apart from the mount :)
I am beginner and what should I buy among canon 1500d and canon r100 camera for photos
I’d definitely go R100 if those were my choices 👍

great video. ☺
Hope it was useful to you and thanks for your lovely comment 🙏
You missed the usb c port only being for charging.
*Only for Data
Would you get the canon R50 or the canon SL3. Im looking to shoot photos and video
Do we continue vedeo recording?
How is the HDMI out? I want to know if I can get clean 1080p into an ATEM mini pro with this.
Any answer?

So I upcoming TH-camr want to vlog and make content you think this one good for a start up
No, get the Sony ZV-E10
It's better than the R5 Mark 2 for sure
Lol how (sorry if I sound stupid, I'm just lazy to watch R5 ii reviews videos)
Awesome!
Thank you Bea 🙏Cheers!
Is 200d mark 2 a better option to r100

The camera has DP AF really!!? 😂😂😂😂🤣🤣🤣🤣
🫣🫣🫣😭😭😂😂😂

Must be different elsewhere but in australia theres nothing in the same price bracket as this camera, its a budget king atm
