    2 years ago i got a Olympus EM5 Mk.2 for 200$.For this budget is the best you can get by far. Weather sealed , 5stops IBIS, 40MP in high res more (sensor shift), magnesium alloy body, lots of custom buttons and 4 custom modes,focus stacking and focus bracketing, nice EVF, built-in time lapse, live comp,silent (electronic) shutter, fully articulated LCD, shutter speed 1/8000 sec to 60sec , 10 fps in C-AF, ISO 200-25600, 1080p 60fps video etc. etc....or the original Olympus EM1 also a beast of a camera!

      JMHO, so-called hybrid cameras are oversold. I have one, but virtually never use it for video. Video is more complicated than photography and often requires much more equipment beyond just a body and lenses. Really, if video is a priority, a camcorder is likely a better choice.

    as a nikon pro- the only thing I can say is if you can afford to go up to the D7100 you'll be light years ahead of the D7000 for barely anything more- most used D7100s are 200-300 bucks and you get a 24mp sensor, better wealing, better autofocus, better video options and even a better sensor with higher FPS.

    I have not used it myself. However, the Canon Rebel T4i or 650D can use magic lantern and is supported by the latest crop mood build which is regarded as significantly more stable than other builds and provides real time preview. Magic lantern can shoot up to 14-bit raw. Also, "I made it here."

  • @AndreLuvsCars_fn

    WHich one do you think is the best one

  • @matthieuzglurg6015
    @matthieuzglurg6015 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +10

    D7000 user here, and there is a few cons I can think of :
    first, the buffer is pretty limited. Like super limited. If you're shooting RAW of any kind to any card, you have a buffer of 8 shots, which at 6fps shooting is like 1.3 seconds. And the card slots aren't fast, so you need to wait a little bit to be able to shoot again so it's clearly not the best camera for sports or anything like that.
    Another thing that would go towards this is the autofocus system. The 39pt system is not super accurate in general. The D7000 and the D600/610 were the only cameras that were in the mid/high end to use it and it was quickly phased out of those bodies for several reasons : first, compared to the more advanced (but older, surprisingly) 51pt AF system, the tracking features isn't anything to write home about, it's very frequently loosing the subject you selected with 3D trackign and drifts off to the background while the 51pt system just stays on target. Second thing is that it's much less precise than the 51pt system as far as crossed type AF points go. The margin of error is much wider leading to a lot more front or back focused images. Worse than that, the AF itself can drift and required you to send back the camera to Nikon for a re-calibration. It can happen, I have seen online plenty of D7000 that got that issue, so far mine doesn't. But that's definitely something to keep in mind when buying those guys used.
    Overall, the D7000 is a very good camera, and the sensor still holds up today very well. In this price range, if sports and wildlife are a priority, looking at the D300 or D300S isn't that bad of an idea. I got one, and it's such a world of difference having that accurate AF that tracked well, fast 8fps burst rate and deep buffer even for RAW files (I think I can get around 20RAWs? With a faster CF card too !). The 12MP sensor in the D300 isn't as nice as the 16MP one in the D7000, but it's honestly not too far. D7000 beats it on high ISO performance though

      I am on the same boat and I seem to have fairly similar experiences using the Nikon D7000 and its cons. Especially with its autofocus that seems to just drift especially in low light situation, or just suddenly back or front focus. For still and slow moving subjects the autofocus is fine and manageable

    • @meatbyproducts
      @meatbyproducts 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Shot the D7000 for years and didn't have any issues with auto focus at all. And the buffer never filled at 8 for me either. It would slow around 12, but rarely ever went that far and I was shooting action with the military for all the 350,000+ shutters on my D7000.

    • @alwynsmit3546
      @alwynsmit3546 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Amen. Had the same AF issues. Fanboys will quickly tell you, they never had issues, but I had 3 copies & all 3 did the same. Shot with my D90 & had no issues with it. However, that 16mp sensor of the D7000 was a beauty. If only Nikon put the 51 point AF system in the D7000. Or if they brought out a D400 in a D300 type body with that sensor. And yes, the buffer wasn't great, so I don't know how someone can claim they got 12 shots. Perhaps in jpeg, but definitely not in RAW. That said, the buffer on the D7100 was even worse.

    The Pentax K50 or K30 can be found for under $200. Both are weather sealed, 16 MP cameras. They both shoot 1080 P video, though it’s only adequate. Both have built in image stabilization so work with any lenses mounted on them. Great photo cameras. If you get one though, make sure it has the solenoid fixed.

    The Olympus em5 is also a very good choice for just a bit more cash, and has the side sdcard you like to see, ibis, water seals, a great evf built in, and looks and feels like a classic. I've loved my em5ii to pieces and am probably going to get another for a backup soon. Another old oly that ranks on this list is the pen mini, I have a pm2 I use as a work bag camera. It lacks the flip out screen but is very pocketable with many of the smaller m43 lenses.

    I just bought a K-30 for $175. Also picked up a 35-80mm lens for $20. Nice outfit for less than $200. Being that I’m a novice in DSLR photography, for me this was a nice entry camera. I have a Pentax K-1000 I bought 40+ years ago (still have it) and loved it, so I thought I’d go with Pentax again. I also thought I might want to dabble with some film photography (just for fun) and want to use lenses that work with both cameras.

    Great video - I switched my old D3100 for the Sony A5000 just over a year ago and absolutely love the small size of it. There's a custom firmware available that gives more recording options than stock (and removes individual recording time limit). A small correction to the review - you can preview the shot via the phone app and remote zoom/ trigger which could come in handy in some circumstances. You can also use a remote flash if needed - I picked up a cheap aliexpress rig for using this 'on the camera' if I really need it as well.

    I think for Pentax, a better choice may have been the K-5. That was a 16MP flagship camera in 2010 that is commonly cited as a Pentax classic, with better high-ISO perormance and more manual controls to eliminate the need for menu-diving, weather sealed, and 1080p/25fps video with a microphone jack. While it's a bit harder to find under $200, I saw multiple good examples on eBay for less than that, and the lenses are cheap as well. I think a $20-30 premium over the K-r does get you a noticeably better camera.
    That said, this is really nice evaluation and comparison video at a price point that people who want to get into photography won't balk at. I think so many photographers are so used to paying thousands of dollars for good equipment that it seems like the word "cheap" loses its meaning, but you've shown that there are some truly excellent cameras within almost everyone's reach.

    forgot to mention that the F mount on nikon will take ANY glass made since the 1960's until today. nikon does no artificially limit you in which series of lenses you can use..as such the lens selection should be a smidge larger than the "hundreds and hundreds" of E-mount lenses for the Sony. also, don't compare an APS-C 2014 12mpx sensor to a today's FULL FRAME 12mpx sensor. there are, in fact a few differences between the two of them..

    👁 made it here! 👁really like the Canon T4i with Nikon D7000 close runner up. I’m looking for a solid camera to shoot pro dance video, cinematic vlogs, and nature photography. The size of the canon seems sensible without loosing this functional entry feature like battery and SD Access, flash etc.
    Thank you for such a thorough review on these cameras 📷 I learned so much and feel more confident before purchasing!

    A camera that I would like to see in the next edition of this video would be the Nikon D3300. It is a really cheap camera and also the latest Nikon d3000 series that has a microphone port and also records in 1080p 60fps

    @FoxTailWhipz I like your content, but can I ask you a question? My copy of Nikon d7000, d5500, d800 from MPB all suffers from the back or front focus issue. I read online it seems common for that era, but the earlier models like D200 D90 does not has this issue. What’s yours opinion here?

      @alwynsmit3546 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I didn't have the D800 or D5500, but I did go to the D7000 from the D90. The AF was imho a step backwards from the D90. Yes there were more points, but the system wasn't as reliable as the D90. And in low light it was terrible. I hated it. Loved the sensor of both the D90 & D7000 (more so the D7000), but hated the QC & the AF

    For photography older cameras are extremely good. All sony a5xxx and a6xxx cameras with good lens are great. No eye focus needed if you know what you are doing. Photography cameras are only got better like with video options. All of those can create images that you cant say what camera was used.

    Great options. I'd recommend the Fujifilm XE2 and XE2s for a Fujifilm option. Crap video but has a viewfinder. Great image quality. Super-compact.

    I was wondering if the Lumix GX80/85 would feature. I picked mine up around 2 years ago for £250 (UK) and was thinking it would be down to the $200 limit by now.

      Go m43 (micro four thirds). As it is a smaller sensor than the 35mm film equivalent cameras (wrongly called Fullframe by some YT idiots back in the day, which has stuck since), it allows smaller lenses, to achieve the same reach. I.e 45mm for m43 = 90mm fullframe. My advice (depending on your budget): take an “ OM-D E-M1 mark 1 or mark 2 (even the smaller OM-D E-M5 mark 1 or 2) and a cheap lightsaber Olympus 40-150mm f4-5.6 plastic fantastic lens. It’ll help you start your journey for wildlife/bird photography on a budget, as it’ll give you a 80-300mm range for a real small footprint (with so much organic character in terms of image) . The E-M1 or E-M5 cameras have stabilised sensors, great burst mode, it’ll compensate the non stabilised lens.

    I use a Canon ELPH 190 IS to take my pictures. I can only use one hand so it is easy to use and it takes excellent pictures better than what I've seen on smart phones . I would never buy a camera with a touch screen because it is too hard to handle and that is why I hate smart phones.

    • @trekkeruss
      @trekkeruss 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      I am a Sony user, but of the bunch, I would say the Canon. It was designed as a starter DSLR, so its user-interface is going to make the experience easier/better, and there are plenty of budget lenses available, especially given that Canon had the lion's share of the DSLR market (which are reasons to avoid the Pentax and Olympus cameras; you will be more limited in selection of lenses, and you will pay more as well).

    • @luckyhobbit8894

    • @trekkeruss
      @trekkeruss 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@luckyhobbit8894 Keep in mind that the five cameras on this list are but one man's opinion, and that depending on what you want to use a camera for, it is possible there may be better choices. Perhaps you don't even want or need an interchangeable lens camera, and may be satisfied with a compact or fixed-lens type.

    its actually wild how all the price gougers made the used cameras available to you at this price actually worse than just a couple years ago. i got a powershot elph 360 hs for 100 bucks a few years ago, and it wasn't very good. Now i'm seeing it go for 200-400 used. Are these people even making money anymore? Who's buying such a bad camera at that price when a nex 5r is at the same price (even though that also jumped up 1-200)
