Question of the Day ⚡ Which camera would you buy between the Canon M50 and Mark II? Let me know! 👇🏼👇🏼👇🏼 **** Check out the Canon EOS M50 Mark II Mirrorless Digital Camera ➡️ amzn.to/36fU1iK
Mark II...obviously i wanted to buy the m50 but bcoz i still did not bought it yet will definately go for mark II was waiting for this review thanks guys..🔥🔥
Obviously the mark II... It's just so disappointing that they added literally nothing that couldn't have been added through a firmware update. Newer sensor, better screen, better evf, dp autofocus in 120p mode or 4k, clog... Anything that would have actually warranted a "Mark II"
I'm glad I got the M50 and was able to crank a few videos before this one came out, as I was also planning on waiting. There's nothing really new here that couldn't be added to the MK1 with a firmware update
Omg, can I just say how much I appreciate your chilled out, steady speech. So many TH-camrs talk so fast-pasted and loud that it literally gives me a headache and I have to turn off. That aside, great video.

A firmware update can EASILY fix that limitation of the M50. You owe it to all the people who bought the original. PLEASE UPDATE THE FIRMWARE. Thankyouuuu.
I would pick the m50ii for its added features of clean hdmi out, livestreaming and connect to zoom as a quality zoom camera, or using for vlogging. Worth the upgrade if a person actually needs that or wants it for vlogging.
The only reason it sounds like to buy the mark ii is if you're looking at buying strictly brand new and have the money. Everything else (upgrading, buying cheap, etc) sounds like it's better just to stick to the mark i
I've been using the M50 as a webcam with a USB cable on both my MacBook and PC for months. Much easier than using a capture card and the quality is incredible compared to a regular webcam

For me the Mark II is a game-changer. I already have a Mark I which is great value and perfect for my studio TH-cam vids but the lack of vertical video makes it horrible to use for Instagram. Gonna get a second M50 (II) I'll setup both simultaneously shooting at different angles for TH-cam vids and use the Mark II for IGTV. Live streaming will also be great. You didn't mention the vertical vid capability.
Seeing a few 4K TV/monitors are in people's homes, I wouldn't worry too much about creating 4K content. 1080 is what has been selling for years and now for less than $250 for a 30"+ set. Given a Nikon body only is $1500 and with Z lens runs $2300 and UP. Too much for a beginners camera IMHO.
I would have considered replacing my M50 with the M50 ii had they removed the crop in 4K mode, or at least had maintained the autofocus abilities in both HD and 4K.

Love most of the things on my M50 original, but not everything. 3 big misses that I was hoping they'd address in this upgrade... 1) If your camera is on a tripod and you're filming, you need to dismount it (including your quick release plate) to get at the battery and memory card, wtf Canon?!? 2) The placement of the microphone input is right in front of the rotating monitor, so if you're filming yourself, it blocks your clean view of the shot. and 3) Don't even get me started on the 4K cropping and useless contrast based focus as opposed to the stellar dual pixel focus. No fix, so no upgrade for me. Thanks Think Media for the video review, much appreciated!
@@JVJF7 Even with the 3 things I mentioned in my comment, I still recommend the M50. You just learn to work within its limitations. Unless you're willing to pay an extra $1,500.00 or so for an R6 full-frame mirrorless camera upgrade.

@@irfanmohd091 soo I DID end up buying the m50 and honestly its not bad of camera. It does the job just well! i did a photoshoot 2 weeks with this chick and the pics cam out pretty dope. I am really disappointed with the mk2 version. This is nothing more than a firmware update to the mk1. This should be a free or low cost upgrade for mk1 users. So if I understand correctly, the main advantage of the mk2 is the ability to not use Canon's Webcam software. BFD As far as the refurbs go, Cannon has raised the price of them. Throughout Spring and Summer they were $425 with free shipping and dropped down to a low of $350. This is with a lens. I should have bought it then but I got caught up in the hype of the mk2 and all the new features it was supposed to have. Hopefully there will be some Black Friday deals.
Yea probably true, however, I look at it as fair upgrade. Every other brand releases the “new” version that makes you hate your current one..in the world of actual M50 users, everyone’s happy
Thanks a lot for the comparison. I’ve ordered M50 without knowing there is Mark II out there, so I needed to understand whether it’s worth returning it back and having it replaced by a newer model. The answer is no. Thanks a lot for the video!
I'd switch to a refurbished M50 Mark i if i had to switch to either one of these two. The differences are not worth the bug price difference imo. Considering I'm coming from a D3100, the M50 alone is enough of an upgrade for me. And i will be using it as a webcam, and i will be happy with having to use it via usb as the quality would still be miles better than the 0.3mp webcam I've got on my laptop.
Baby photoshoot pictures were cute AF. Your daughter's adorable and the mickey mouse hat is awesome. I think I had a hat like that when I was a child. Thanks for making this comparison video. I just got an M50 but I don't live stream so I feel safe with my purchase.
I don't live stream either and I am thinking on buying the M50, however I don't know if I should get the Mark 1 or two. To edit I use a mac and I just can not decide wether to get the Mark 1 or 2.
Answered all my questions thank you. One thing though, and I say this to all reviewers. Why use the term beginner camera. It’s not. It’s for amateurs or enthusiasts. Beginner always sounds like the reviewer is saying it’s an OK camera for everyone else but not for me, as I’m too good for it. Great channel though.
I just purchased the Mark ii May 2023 to celebrate reaching 10,000 Subscribers and being monetized for a year ! I’m excited to see the content we create 🎉🎉
I recently started my channel with the m50 & I have zero reasons to upgrade to the mark ii. However if i didn't own a camera and was looking to buy one then i think the m50 mark ii is amazing value for money and the best choice in this price range just like the original m50...
This feels like a Version 1.1 of the M50. Looks like a firmware update is all that this camera has rather than anything "new" to be honest. I'd love to know if there is anything in the hardware of the M50 Mark II that the M50 itself doesn't have that it couldn't have these same features with just a firmware update. Also, I'd also love to know if the electronic level display bug is fixed where it can display if you're using face tracking as opposed to Zone tracking as your autofocus mode.
It's a bit late but Iv'e had the M50 M1 for a few years now and can tell you about some flaws. with a mike cable input you can't rotate the screen with out pulling the cable out. there is no volume progress bars for left and right on the screen when recording in 4K so you have no idea of the audio or volume. The IR beam on the front of the body is in the wrong place, it gets blocked some times by holding the camera, this causes blurred photos or a failed shot. You can't hot swap batteries with out removing from the tripod. the lens cap on the included lens falls off unexpectedly. the built in flash if you use it has to be manually raised which is awkward when your in a hurry to get the shot. I think the biggest piss off is no volume on the screen, some times I've had to do several takes because I didn't know that there was no audio until it was played back. I use the Saramonic Blink 500 mike kit with the twin transmitters. Tony from Australia
A... the m6 mark ii ... is kinda what the m50 mark ii should have been. B... yeah, I think the m7 will be a step above the the m6 mark ii. I bet it costs 1300-1500+ So, I think the m50 1 or 2 is still great. I have a lot to do with your budget.
@@ThinkMediaTV In australia the price difference isn't $50 it's $200 the m6 mark ii is in some shops cheaper than the m50 mark ii so... now I'm even more confused, or do I wait for a m7? for reference I'm upgrading from an ancient eos 1000d so almost everything on the market is an improvement.
I got the M50 mark2 in August 2022. The only thing that is dissapointing is the 4k. I only do photos so I didnt care about that. I just wanted a nice entry level Canon that is as small as possible. I am happy with my decision since I get so many cheap lenses. I will never sell any of it, I am totally in love.
I had the M50 for about 6 months. I used the viltrox speed booster. Which gives you almost a full frame image. Anyways I sold it and bought the Canon 80d which I like a lot better. I know shoot with a Canon EOS R and I just preorder the Canon EOS R5.. but until the R5 gets here, I just picked up a can of 90d from a buddy of mine for $500! That camera is a beast for wildlife! I use the sigma contemporary 150 to 600 mm with that Canon 90d. Oh my God I can reach out to 960 mm and get super clean images!
I am sure being a year old by now you know, that the MK1 can do clean HDMI via a "hack" simply using the USB cable to connect to the remote shooting software, and turning off the on screen info gives you clean output. I have been doing this for the last few videos I created. But now that this camera is tied to my desk with 3 cables (power, usb, and hdmi) I don't really have a camera to take around to film. So honestly torn between getting another M50 since I am used to it, and have some lens already. Or upgrade to something else. I want to get the Cannon R5C, so can't decide save that $400 for that, or spend the $400 now so I have something until I can get the R5C.
It seems Canon has made it possible to put out a clean HDMI on the mark ll. So it seems rather than providing a firmware update on the M50, they released the mark ll instead. That's pretty cold to all it's loyal Canon users. In the Mark ll it's in the camera menu. Since Canon is not helping us, is there any way to get a clean HDMI from the Canon M50?
Hey Think Media Team, Thank you for this, I am saving to buy a camera I cannot wait to purchase.. I am taking notes 📝... Love All The Way From Namibia 🇳🇦...
The beginner camera is the Canon a6400... You'll have all you need in there + better quality, auto focus and slow motion for a photographer or streamer
I'll just stick to my T6i - there is nothing earth shattering in this new camera that makes it such an upgrade that I have to grab it. Thanks for sharing
I think, Canon could do most of all this as a firmwareupdate. So for me it is a great disapointment, because I own the M50 (which was a great positive surprise at the time) - having expected really more from a new MK II version.
In 2022 I got my Mk1 for under £300 on Wex with Good condition which is good enough, paired with Canon's 18-150mm lens from MPB for under £300 again. Total ≈ £540.
I like all features of Canon m50 Mark ii. But only one feature is not super slow motion at 1080p. I want super slow motion camera at 1080p. Which is best for me? Please suggest to me.
Unfortunately, the Canon M6 Mark II had not yet been released when my daughter got her M50. She has been attempting to create TH-cam videos and frankly, it suxs. I would like to say, buy the M6, and forget about all the issues you will encounter with the M50. The M50 was a great camera for a year or two. But when you discover all the shortcomings and adjustment settings required to make it work...too many hassles. Thank you for the kind review between the M50 version 1 and version 2. However, Canon now appears to be switching gears to the R50 or "R" Line. Don't expect much support or Love from Canon for the EF-M line to be around much longer. It is a competitive camera market, a professional will easily spend $5,000 for a basic startup. When your startup is small and rather inexpensive, don't count on getting great results as you'll just have to work with what you have and can afford. Nobody said you had to keep up with the Joneses or wealthy folks. It all takes time, strategy, goals, and money! Plan well, and save your piggy bank $$$$ before dishing out the bacon strips.$-$-$-$-$.
I had the M50 mk1 for a while. I sold it because 4k with no useable autofocus is just too frustrating. Was hoping they would've enabled it on the mk.2. Oh well, saving for the Sony A7S3 anyways (dream camera).
Awesome video... Hmmm... Canon says the auto focus on the m50 mk ii is better than the original m50, I wonder if that includes 4k. I personally like to use manual focus anyway, so to me, the M50 is a very good 4k camera for filmmaking, if you get in there and use manual controls. As you said, drop a Viltrox speed booster on there, and use a good lens, and you have a great setup, and for less than $800 total, if you get the original M50 used or renewed. Lots of deals less than $500 on Ebay right now. I think the connectivity of the mk ii makes it compelling, though. And the clean HDMI, but maybe not worth an additional $200. (if you get the m50 used). Probably the best thing would be to suck it up and spend the extra few hundred bucks and be able to get a camera that is closer to having a smartphone in your hands with a much better camera, at least in terms of transferring and sharing files, and also being able to shoot vertically... Thanks for the positive video, it certainly is easy to trash this upgrade by Canon, but actually, it's pretty good when you consider they only added $50 to the price tag. Maybe they should have just said, "the latest version" of the m50. Maybe then people wouldn't be so pissed off, although I guess then, original m50 users would be like, "Yo, could you just do this in firmware for us, please?" You can't win. ;) And as we know, companies are just trying to make more money all the time. Like everyone else. ;)
Thanks for the great information and from what I have seen online this is a great camera however you have pushed me over the line even though it's more than I wanted to spend but well worth the extra money.
I'm looking at this camera to try my hand at imaging nature and the wildlife around me. ideally, I don't want to use it for youtube, just images, and videos of nature. canon eos m50 with a full kit of cards, batteries, and other lenses with filters, a tripod, and carrying case totals around to 700 bucks, I think that would be a better deal than just a more souped-up version for live streamers.

As far as the refurbs go, Cannon has raised the price of them.
Every other brand releases the “new” version that makes you hate your current one..in the world of actual M50 users, everyone’s happy
ya same
M50 also can use webcam driver.
Thanks a lot for the comparison. I’ve ordered M50 without knowing there is Mark II out there, so I needed to understand whether it’s worth returning it back and having it replaced by a newer model. The answer is no. Thanks a lot for the video!
I really need this camera for my vlog, hope some day i can buy,,
I'd switch to a refurbished M50 Mark i if i had to switch to either one of these two.
Definitely want the mark II now. Thanks for the video.
Currently, I already use Canon M50 to make videos for my channel, It is a pretty good camera.
I would love to have a canon M50 But i am stil saving up money
Can't wait for December, it's getting launched in India in December yaaaay
Tony from Australia
hey I've found a deal on the M50 mark 1 for around 400 would you say its good deal for a beginner camera or recommend another camera
I'm just gonna keep saving up and buy the Canon Eos R6 :)
spend the extra $50 on a refurbished prime lens 😂
My guy ♥️
the nifty fifty? would you need a lens adapter with the m50?
@@AI-Consultant yep! It’ll be worthy
I just picked up an m50 super cheap. Im excited to have something smaller than my 6dii for an everyday carry and maybe dabble in some video.
Me: nodding my head violently as if I know what omar is saying
🤣🤣🤣 I try - legit tho, where did I lose you?
Why violently? girl don't hate yourself like that

the baby focus test was my fave part of this

Do you know if Canon are gong to release an M7 or is it only rumours? M50 Mark II is not worth upgrading to.
A... the m6 mark ii ... is kinda what the m50 mark ii should have been.
B... yeah, I think the m7 will be a step above the the m6 mark ii. I bet it costs 1300-1500+
So, I think the m50 1 or 2 is still great.
@@freman wait which shops is it cheaper? The m50 mark ii is around 999 at jb

I just bought the Canon M50 on October 23rd, I haven’t used yet. I will be going tomorrow to B&H so they can set up for me on video mode.
11-22mm.. Fantastic lens for content creation
I have both now .❤ This was a good breakdown in differences .
I just ordered the refurbished white M50 via your link!! I'm so excited to get this camera for video :) Thanks so much!
I just realized you uploaded this video on my birthday!
Nice comparison. Thanks for this!
Very very sad we did not get this through a firmware update but being sad doesn't solve anything, I'm still pressing record.
This is the camera I’m going to be purchasing soon. Thank you for the review!
Great Video! btw your t-shirt was inside-out @6:01
Good eye !
Think Media is knocking it out of the park now days.
Lovely photos. Great review, thanks
Thanks for the info! I will look to this idea in the future. Precious 2yr old pics!!
Super chill video. Thanks for the info.
This was so helpful! I have had my eye on the M50 for a while.
Just started my channel this year I'm using my iPhone
U really inspired me
Thank you! This video has been SO valuable for me - much appreciated!!!! It helped me
Choose which to commit to as I don’t own either yet.
With the Mark II out, it's hard to find a new Mark 1 around.
Hey Think Media Team,
Thank you for this, I am saving to buy a camera I cannot wait to purchase.. I am taking notes 📝...
Love All The Way From Namibia 🇳🇦...
Thanks for a positive video on the Canon M50 Mark II. It is my first digital camera and I am excited! Great feedback.
Love 💕 canon Mark II
M50 mkII it's Simply a firmware update of M50
I agree. I wish they would have just done a software update. I have the m50, but I would love to have the updated livestreaming capability!
They should release the M50 MkII firmware for M50. Maybe Magic Lantern could be a better alternate firmware option.
@@cubano100pct The problem is that there isn't any official Magic Lantern M50 option from what I was reading. Or else many of us would go for that
Why Canon did that?
For the glory of money 💰!
@@afterhoursphotography a firmware upgrade by money it would have had much more success
I'm still rocking the M50, it has entry level 4k cropped but at least it has 4k feature.
It’s going to be hard, but hard does not mean impossible.
🙏
Yeah, man!!! 🤘🏽
@@ImRichardShepherd yes! How are you?
What are you on about?
This helps so much as i bought a the wrong sigma lens and it’s specifically ef-m
Thanks for your video. It helped me a lot in choosing what to buy.
Those cameras are way above my budgets..
I think you missed a main feature added, they also added a crop zoom video, where as before it was just a manual focus adjuster.
I'm thinking about getting one just for that straight to TH-cam steaming feature. I'd love to be able to live stream my event photography jobs.
I like all features of Canon m50 Mark ii. But only one feature is not super slow motion at 1080p. I want super slow motion camera at 1080p. Which is best for me? Please suggest to me.
Thank mate! I've been watching your videos for hours and looks like im going with the m50 ii!
Good review which, for me, clearly explained the differences between the two. Thanks for sharing
I’m going to buy this one for my daughter.....I’m happy as a Fuji user because she wants to stop using her iphone! Great news
Oh well, saving for the Sony A7S3 anyways (dream camera).
yo i got here when it hade just posted!
Here’s your 🍪
Nice! Thanks for this. I'm going to get the Mark II then.
im loving the music in this video. the track at the end was nice!
It's gay
So helpful. Thank you. Worth the extra $50 for the webcams
Like everyone else. ;)
Good review. Sad Canon did not deliver!
Thank you for this comparaison video! I think I will go for the Mark ii for HDMI!
Thanks for the info! I'll be using the affiliate link to pick mine up [M50II]. You have great taste in watches too; Royal Oak.✌🏾
Great video guys
Thanks for the great information and from what I have seen online this is a great camera however you have pushed me over the line even though it's more than I wanted to spend but well worth the extra money.
Excellent analysis
Damn, I have the first M50 and was really hoping for that 4k uncropped. I wouldnt even mind paying a bit more. But hey, maybe the mkIII.
Great video thanks, would get Mark I instead I guess.
