Thanks mate your an absolute legend for this video, saved the day twice now! Second time have had to replace this cable couldn't have done it without this video🤙 can confirm putting one or 2 zip ties on spring as another comment suggested made it even easier! Thanks 👍👍
Thanks for the vid mate, for anyone struggling with this issue, check the drive shaft running from the deck blades back to the gear box, mine had disconnected at the front as the pin had popped out, you can access from the plastic guard with the hose piece on it on top of the mower
I found out the hard way that the panel he is removing so easily at the 2:00 is HUGELY impacted by the cutting height position of the mower. I fought with my mower for about an hour before figuring out that It is much easier to remove and refit this panel with the mower’s cutting height set to high.
Good video helped me a lot. Tip: Instead of taking the front wheel off to get the back axle back into its groove. I simply turned the mower back to up right position and the axle slipped back into place. no front wheel or disassembly required. Would be great if you could make more video's specifically about servicing equipment or business tips!
Thanks for the video. I have a 215 two speed Australian model mower and it seems that there is only one speed. Obviously the gear box works but do you think that the position of the arm onto the rod from the gearbox could be out of alignment ? When in gear one there is no engagement . When the lever is pressed a bit more towards gear 2 i can see the gear take on the drive. If that is teh case maybe when it is in drive 2 it is actually drive 1 and a bit ? I plan to get to that section and adjust the arm and see what happens.
Hi, can i ask a quick question, is there a neutral on the gear levee? Or just 1.2.3, the reason i am asking because my hru216 as soon as I engage the self propell handle, the machine start moving straight away
If you've still got it, put a set of rings in it. It'll cost about $50 and you'll have a great mower for another 37years! I have a hru214 as well. Great great machine

Very helpful video. The gearbox is around $400 so an accurate diagnosis is critical.
You're a star, couldn't of done it without your YT vid, TY...

Thanks buddy. ill give that try next time. Ill post some more vids on tips and services...
Thanks this tip worked and really helped me reassemble.
Thanks mate saved a lot of stuffing round
Use a zip tie to compress the spring, I use a thin tie to remove and a thick tie to assemble . I would send a photo if I knew how'
Thanks this tip helped.
Genius, a genuine zip tie technician! Thanks mate this tip made the worst step easy peasy lemon squeezie
Greetings from California. I found this video helpful for my HR-215. Thanks!

Not too sure about that model but sounds like the same setup .
I’d adjust the cable first
@@MBMOWING
Thanks. It seems like the cable is already adjusted to maximum already .
May have to replace the cable- if that doesn’t work it would be the gearbox issue
Does the self propel cable on a transmission go by itself up and down or does it only engage up and down when the engine is running?

You missed the most tricky bit putting the side cover back that cover the box in wich is what I need lol
Good job. What model # is your mower?
This mower was the HRU 216 M2.
Great Aussie Video mate!
I've got a HRU214 (37yo) and blows blue smoke. :(
Ha ha glad you liked it mate. A Honda blowing blue smoke ? She’ll be right mate

Is it possible to just tighten the existing cable?
Yes but when the cable has stretched too far it’s time to replace it
what is your thoughts on the alloy deck i am looking at buying one
They are great never rust light weight and strong as an ox
does the sand kill the alloy decks
Hi Michael no the sand doesnt kill the decks
Was good Ng to replace the whole gearbox but didn't have the time.
As you can see, the gearbox is easy to remove
