Top video mate, covered everything! I've had the same issue with the handle screw on all 4 of my previous and current 216 mowers. Lost a few, now I check it regularly and I can normally feel it in the handle when it comes loose. I found a bit of blu tack around the thread helps but doesn't lock it on as lock tight would, which you obviously don't want. Also had a few handles do the same and not look straight when you view it from the mowing position, not sure what that's about! Wheels turn into slicks real quick. Thanks for taking the time to put this out 👍🏻 Cracking job mate.
Great tip mate. I'm starting to get the front wheel axles wearing the deck just inside the wheels. I know to replace the little plastic bushes on them, but you can only tip one side. That is with the oil sump down. Folding the handlebars will definitely help access the other side.
Good video mate. I had the same issue with the handlebar knobs coming loose. Lost the nut in people's yard 3 times. I put a spring washer and nyloc nut on either side and never had any problem since. Never have a reason to fold or lower handlebars while mowing. If I ever need to fold them for maintenance or storage, I'll just undo the 2 nuts with my rattle gun or ratchet.
@@bradpatti999 leveller knob lose them. Shop said i can adjust to make tighter fit but id be worried as the steel part lose springiness and later need replacing.
Interested to hear about how you turn/manoeuvre? Recently bought this same mower and find great on straight runs but pretty awkward turning and in tight spaces
I found with them if you go around the area you mow 3 times it’s makes it a lot easier when turning and I normal turn them around with self propelled engage
Strange to see that much wear on the Tyre Treads mate. (especially the front tyres) Must be scrubbing on concrete pathways often? Nice Vid as always buddy :)
Good review. I have the same problem with the screws, I also find they’re not really secure even when I’ve tightened them and if the terrain is uneven it’ll bounce and cause scalping which can be a pain. Have you experienced similar or know how to fix it?
Dude u got a powerful engine on a power being self propelled big and heavy bumping around shit is gonna get loose over time that's why smart people maintain it
It shouldn't even be up to workers either all bosses should be mainting shit so it happens less.. Dude it's written in the law that they have to keep up safety maintenance not workers... they just chuck it on the workers. I would love to see the boss fight that statement with health and safety they'd laugh him out the office it's all their responsibility
They are not allowed to even cut a bloody tree down without being full harnessed and secured and that's written in the law but u see them out their not giving af doing it anyway.
I just got one of these and it feels very underwhelming and weak. Always cuts out going through not so long grass. Will moving that spring help with this?
@keensta789 When I bought it one of my mates told me to do that but at the mower shop the workshop manager advised against it so I never did. I hardly use mine and it already needs the gearbox replaced. All the guys I know who own them have gone through 3-4 gearboxes. I wish I never bought it.
coming from hrx217 to this, the handle is too low for tall operator and unadjustble.the rear wheels worn out way too fast.clutch cable needs adjustment often or it wont drive properly. and one thing i dont understand why honda not upgrade its "commercial" grade engine gxv160 for more than 10years meanwhile upgraded their domastic line to more powerful gcv 190 and 200.
@@merdenoms74 hmm,i like the hrx handle, hydrolic gearbox, auto choke, weight and plastic body But i hate the 4wheel height adjustment and the fact hrx cant cut low..,the hru can cut extremly low.
@@LeonMTan yes I agree. With regards to the cutting height, I’ve packed my blades with a thick washer to bring them down a couple of mm. It’s enough to make a difference.
The GXV160 has plenty of power. It’s a far more durable design than the gcv170/200, the two models do not compare. Incase you didn’t realise either this is an Australian only model so has some features the hrc216 doesn’t have and is also a totally different deck design.
I have had basically the same mower for ten years and it has never missed a beat, still starts first pull.

Thank you Sir. An excellent review and a big help.
For the knobs put a spring or star washer under the knob
Loosen handles and the mower can stand up straight on its back wheels. Then easy to remove cutting disc (2bolts) to change blades.

Never had an issue with the handles being too loose. I usually find they get really hard to untighten after a few months haha
Good review, thanks for that. Big help.
Thanks for the review. How’s it performance since this post? Have you had any gearbox issues?
Hi mate I put black tape on my thumb screws after they are tight they never vibrate off👍🏴
Video on how to use would be awesome

Who turns into a tight corner with self propelled engaged speedy
Good stuff. Can we get some more content plz 🙏
What does the "U" stand for in the designation HRU216. I know what the other letters stand for.

It’s seen too much time on the bitumen .😂
when will you do a new video?
Hey legend just wondering is your 196 still in use and hows it compare to this beast
Maybe put a star washer on it or spring washer on part that ur losing
I just got one second hand for $200, started 1sr time I pulled it, very impressed

no idea honestly but I see what you mean.
It's just constant bumping you'll nvr fix it... it's called friction

With the nob on the handle if you're not folding it down use loctite on it and it's won't come lose mate.
It doesn’t turn off when u disengage the blade cable. Stays on idle ur ok you turn it off
Will adjusting the RPM void warranty? and was it easy to adjust (video for that plz 😊)
still mowing mate?
Sure am mate, just began our new season!
Sounds like a lot of issues for a product that costs so much?
Do you find the self propelled much better than the 196
There is some extra weight but the fact you don’t have to push it makes it well worth it
I modded the throttle for 20% more power its a beast

It's a piece of shit, worst money I ever spent.

100%. As a commercial user I'll stick with my HRX which also has the advantage of weighing a lot less.

Maybe the older engine is more durable 🤷♂️

Use 98 once in awhile cleans all shit out
Good machine but repair is too expensive. Need to change gear box after something and its cost around $800 now days and it's painful 😫
