Amazing how far the channel has come, from being paint hacks and pimpin' tires, to turbo/super-charger swaps and throwing honda engines into minis. I like the direction.
Someone on my block is reving the shit out of their project car, the exhaust fumes are coming into my place and it's adding to the experience while watching this show. lol. I aint even mad.
As you don't need superchargers while chasing high power. If you want everyday driveability supercharger beats turbo. Summer tyres are better in the summer, but winter tyres in the winter. Each device has a purpose where it excels.
Okay but like.... why did they show the turbo install in detail on an MX-5 AGAIN, where they could have shown the supercharger install on an MX-5 and show something totally new?
there is little detail to show in the supercharger install, it's a few bolts and a belt. We covered Supercharging in Detail on the Mini, and we'll show some more of this MX5 kit later on, it is however a kit that just bolts on and everything to do with FMIC pipes, air filters, injectors, engine management is the same between the two cars.
I would have probably taken the time to drop the sump to ensure all of the metal shavings from the oil return were removed. The time take would be good insurance as if there is any of this metal in the sump, you can say goodbye to you engine. Other than that, love your work.
True, I wanted an NB just like that body style more and 1.8L engine. One thing at a time though. I got '16 Focus ST in the middle of the first round of mods, runs 13's in the 1/4 on slicks and a tune, that's it.
450 bhp Mazdas are great, the older ones are another story, play around the a Mazda3 there cheap, (depending on location) easy to work on, fun as fuck considering there only 2650 pounds. I just picked up a 06 Mazda3 with the 2.3l Dohc, super fun man.
You guys are like Cowboys From Hell Reinventing the Steel. You guys really are Far Beyond Driven and I can't wait to see the cars Vulgar Display of Power.
@ShredBucketheadshred ur obviously not a real car guy. Probly a young high school kid learning how to act by watching fast and furious and playing need for speed

MIZKable not mad? dude YOU replied to ME then got upset at my reply showing just how moronic your comment was THEN further upset when you wanted so badly to show how great your life was when you felt threatened that I earn more than you ONLY brought up BTW because AGAIN you felt threatened by the truth, I mean fucking LOL all this simply because I made a comment that Pantera doesn't go with cars designed for women ?
I really like this series. Honestly didn't care for the Audi/Mitsubishi episodes. They were done well though, just like this series. Please do some rotary engine work!
dude, from a technical/engineering standpoint its gonna be fascinating to the differences in AFRs, boost/HP ratios, and all the other numbery/mathy type stuff. From the tuner standpoint its gonna be great to see the differences in power curves, driveability, and just straight up fun.. Especially since right now i'm on the fence about going turbo or SC on my 08 V6 accord.. I don't think anyone has ever done a test like this where the only variable is the type of forced induction..thank you for your hard work and ingenuity, please keep it up..
Dude I just read Moog's Wikipedia page, and omg this dude is freaking talented! I had no idea he was such an accomplished composer and has produced so much badass music!
@12:48 Aaaaaaah that sound when you get the MX5 into reverse xD So much memories of my old one :D Quick tipp: Stomp on the clutch two or three times before shifting into reverse. That usually fixes that issue ;)
+_Koz_ I love the high pitch whistle of a turbo but I could care less for a loud ass bov! had a 1.8t gti I bought with a greedy Saab with the whistle tip on, hated it. plus a water cooled, quick spool turbo on a vw needs the diverter valve so I bought the tip to run the air back into the intake piping. had that loud flutter sound instead of the annoying whistling bov. sounded so sick!
Having done an otherwise identical Supercharged and a Turbocharged motor (not a Miata though), I have a really good idea what's going to happen. On the black car, with the centrifugal supercharger: -Boost won't hit peak until redline. There will be Belt/Pulley Changes to get it where they want it. -The Torque curve will be better than NA, but won't follow the typical NA hump. -Power numbers will look like a straight(ish) line with an upwards trend as boost builds -The power curve can also look like an exponential graph, if enough boost is dialed in -Driveability will be excellent because it's extremely controllable in lower RPMs. On the red car, with the turbocharger: -Boost should hit peak around 3,000rpm, and will hopefully hold through redline (assuming the turbo is sized properly) -The torque curve will be very similar to an NA car, but higher from 2,500rpm all the way to redline. -Power numbers will show more initial gains (2,500rpm-4,500rpms) and probably be very similar in total horsepower/kW. -It will feel a little wilder to drive, because the boost comes on harder, earlier. The red car will put down higher numbers on the dyno, and should (provided enough traction) out accelerate the black car in almost any test. The black car will be harder to tune, especially with belt/pulley changes.
The supercharger could be modded to have maximum pressure from before maximum RPM, if they fitted a supercharger bypass that bleeds off the boost at a set pressure. Then the supercharger would have maximum boost from lower RPM, it's not really any different in effect to the waste-gate in the turbo, so still a fair comparison
It's definitely possible - however, I doubt their kit will include that sort of a bypass - it's not common for the procharger/vortech/etc kits to come with one. Another consideration is maximum impeller speed. To get 20psi on a turbo, the turbine spins up, and then maintains speed as the wastegate opens. On a supercharger, the compressor is directly linked to the engine speed. To achieve "full" boost at turbo like response times (halfway to redline) you'd need to have a really really aggressive pulley - and then by redline the supercharger is likely to be over-spinning. Just a consideration.
I like the NA too, but I find the NB adorable and really good looking. Technically I think the NA, NB, and ND are very closely matched, while the NC is a distant 4th.
SO SOLD ON HALTECH!!!! I was a car guy from my teen's to early 20's. Now that I'm 35 and a decade into a good career, I'm looking to get back into car's. I have to say that I will certainly find something that can benefit from a haltech. Would love to tinker with a boosted car so much.
Found your channel recently and just wow! You guys are amazing everything from these shorter episodes to your fantastic longer full features! Amazing to find a show with this quality on TH-cam really good production! 😀
Don't forget to compare things such as fuel mileage. Most cars i threw a turbo on got better mpg. Willing to put money the supercharger gets worse mpg for normal street driving. Keep it up!
They were out of rego when they started the series - that's why they're making track cars and not road cars. They mentioned at the end of the last video on that series that it was going on hold for a while, while they did 'another big project' (that's clearly this series). They didn't ever say they were scrapping them.
What size wheels and what are the tire sizes? Im really interested in how they got t that meaty sidewall look to the tire. @ 12:51 you can see what I mean.
0:42 Mazda did make turbo MX-5 from the factory, called the mazdaspeed 5. It was a marked improvement and really balanced the car's performance nicely. 2004 model year upped power from 106 kW to 133 kW under 8.5 PSI boost. Yes I did have to look up the numbers in kW since I live in USA and am more familiar with HP where it went from 142 to 178
One hell of a job Marty and Moog! Very clean setup. Nice weldig job Marty! Thanks for having this channel, very usefull and entertaining. Keep up the good work!
Zcypot it's a 2.0 or 2.5 depending on the car it's from. BRZ 2.0 or 2.5 from Legacy, etc. maybe from a turbo car? Hard to tell they all look the same now. Heck I dunno
What if you would build in a compressor, lets say an electric or gasoline, whatever, as long as it puts out a lot of air, what if you would lay down some air hoses and have the nozzle spray air into the turbo inlet, would that give you some extra oomf?
It's really been fun seeing these two go from using markers to blacken out their cars to doing some of the fabrication that would normally be handed off to Turbo Yoda or someone else.
I would be really interested in seeing how they compare for MPG averages once they are tuned. Could be an additional cool way to look at them since the comparison between them is strictly turbo vs supercharger. Maybe even another pricing factor for longevity of owning the car, which one can you beat around on for longer. Either way, great content and loving it!
BTW, good choice making the red one turbo and the black one supercharged, it just seems appropriate. Turbo is much better suited for the drag strip which is a showcase venue No Doubt. While supercharging is more apropos for track or daily driving, making black a much more suitable color... Good choice gentleman...
the oil restrictors are also there so your engine can keep oil pressure. without them all you oil pressure ends up in the turbo, and you'll "run" a bearing as your crank runs out of oil.
FWIW, you're not going to hear much of any whine out of a Rotrex. Supercharger whine is generally associated with positive displacement superchargers, not centrifugal superchargers. The noise from the Rotrex on my Miata was far less pleasant than the traditional "supercharger whine" while air was recirculating, however when you transition from boost to recirc you get that nice "PFFFFF" sound that is more often associated with turbos. Similarly, I think they will be a bit surprised at the torque curve of a Rotrex vs a positive displacement supercharger. It's more of a straight slope rather than the instant onset of torque often associated with superchargers. On the plus side though, the Rotrex is fun because it just keeps pulling harder and harder to redline, so it will still put a grin on your face.
The MX5 NB8B models have almost perfect room for turbo chargers because the SE model DID come with a stock turbocharger. So it would make sense that the space is set up for one in a NON-turbo spec from the factory.
Flyin Miata will happily put a LS motor in a MX5, make it street legal, 50 state emissions compliant, and do everything necessary to the suspension and chassis to make it handle the power.
Sorry Moog and Marty, not really enjoying these types of raw videos. Bring back videos like: how to wash your car, install a steering wheel. Season 1 type of videos please. But anyway still support you blokes
What i love about a charger is that scream you can get from them. Foot to the floor and you get that initial "Whizz" and when you hit the top end the charger is just screaming to go further. Turbo on the other hand. It's the whole dump valve sound that makes you feel like a kid again. MCM Next after this. Please mix them together. Set the charger to run low down the revs up to say 4k then have the turbo kick in at 4k and enjoy the insane amount of boost right the way through the rev range. Similar to twin turbo just without the smaller turbo spooling up faster.
Being a centrifugal supercharger, you'll experience a little lag, but not like the turbo. Centrifugals aren't "positive pressure" pumps like a roots or a screw type blower, so boost comes in as the RPMs pick up.
"he's got the bends" lol.... " That's going to be rather difficult because we don't have Radiohead " HA ! LMAO. I laughed so hard. Dude, you guys are hilarious. I didn't like your show at first ( just being honest ) but it's because you guys drive all these garbage front wheel drive cars over there and shift gears with your left hand, and drive on the wrong side of the road. Even your "good" cars are front wheel drive. All wheel drive.... ok, fine. cool. But front wheel drive cars that have blender motors set to liquify and a fart can for exhaust to make it sound as wimpy weak and fragile as they truly are.... they just, well.... they suck. lol. You guys should move to Canada or USA and build some real cars. You guys would THEN become international super-stars. Ditch Aussie land and start phase 3 of your plan. And... " what are we going to do today brain " ?? " The Same thing we do EVERY day Pinky........ TRY TO TAKE OVER THE WORLD !!!!!!! " lol. Love your show. Hate your cars. Rock on !
This is shaping up to be one of my favourite series of videos from you guys. A question that has been asked a million times is finally getting some proper answers. My only minor gripe* is that it would have been good to see a roots type charger in the mix as well as these two options as that does the supercharging thing and power delivery in a much different way. Still excited to see what you think of the supercharger as a guy that's fitted Rotrex chargers before :)
honestly the magic build is >flyin miata II kit, minus the electronics and turbo; $2000 >used garret GT2560R/GT2554R/GT3071R; anywhere from $500 to $1000 depending on condition, be prepared to do a rebuild on it with a rebuild kit >used megasquirt 3; around $500 should do you >a good set of higher flow injectors; around $300 so for $3300 on the low end you get all the mechanical stuff completely plug and play, no guesswork, and megqsquirt has a massive online database to learn from to get you on the road, then almost any tuner will happily get you up with a really good tune on a dyno for a few hundred
I hate miatas, mainly because I dont physically fit in one, but this is one of the most interesting series you guys have done yet! Can't wait to see the results.
I am pumped you guys are doing this right now. I am currently planning out my next project which is an Exocet mx-5 and have been going back and forth on supercharger or turbo. Could not have better timing.
Dump pipe? Cat-back... (Catalytic converter back-flow pipe). Look into solenoid controlled Cat-Back pipes. It's basically like installing an on-off switch for your turbo... Super cool.
A Flying Miata turbo kit uses the same GT2560RS turbo, does not require cutting the body and makes plenty of power. Don't be lame at the strip like last time. My '97 Miata with a 2560 on it went 13.46 at 103 in the quarter mile on only 10 psi. I managed this while running 195/60/14 tires on stock wheels.
Just heard one of the smartest things I've ever heard you guys say. You said it's replacement turbo so you can just hook it up to the existing parts. That is totally the way to go. When doing the turbo, don't treat it like a custom install, treat it like a replacement part install. Get a slightly larger turbo, that pushes slightly better stats than your existing Turbo, and just use all of the stock Plumbing. At that point the worst you're going to have to go through is getting better pumps and tuning your computer accordingly, systems like this can be expected to push somewhere between 50 and 100 additional horses, and that's it. But then again, this is for an increase in daily driver horses, if you're trying to build a drag strip or a track car you're going to have to redo all of the plumbing. It would also be wise to redo the ignition system, cables, plugs, all of the gaskets, pulleys and exhaust as well
At the very beginning Marty said "they should have had turbos from the factory". And to reply to that THEY DID. It's called a Mazda Speed Miata and have a factory turbo and front mount etc as well as different suspension and brakes. They had them for the NB and NC. There's talks for Mazda to make an ND one.
Awesome stuff. When track testing please go into any difference as far as bushings, sway bars, spring rates, ect. I am not sure if you all have already taken them to the track yet but please be as accurate as you can since I think both these cars are going to be pretty close on modest boost. Anything above 10psi and the turbo is just gonna walk away.
Aw yeah, cant wait for Tuning Fork to drop his endless knowledge on those.
It's gonna be awesome!
it's gonna be MADDDD...not awesome.. go home MCM you're drunk..
mx5's Turbos n superchargers,MAAAAADD day brightened!
HAHA! the USA rubbed off on you guys a bit, huh?
Tuning Fork is the man
Amazing how far the channel has come, from being paint hacks and pimpin' tires, to turbo/super-charger swaps and throwing honda engines into minis. I like the direction.
whats with the 6 cylinder boxer behind moog at @2:38
I wondered the same thing too. I've been asking that since they got the 180.
replacement for supergramps?
Supergramps already has a EZ36. it's all stock, so unless they're doing a closed deck conversion, it would be a waste
I know nothing of boxer engines other than their piston layout, perhaps they're sticking in forged components for more power?
the tribeca motors are not reliable at all, i would keep a spare too lol.
Someone on my block is reving the shit out of their project car, the exhaust fumes are coming into my place and it's adding to the experience while watching this show. lol. I aint even mad.
SmellTube.com
Can't wait to see the head to head running and the dyno. Team Turbo!
you guys went from looking at turbo yoda making a turbo car... to you guys making it your self. massive learning curve.. kudos to yous!
Dear Marty,
There was a run of JDM 1.6L mx5s that came boosted from factory. You can find the motors with the stock turbos on them still.
Just fyi :)
Ace content, you're killing it guys. Keeping petrol-heads the world over satiated with oily goodness. Thank you!
Production skills have improved over the years. Moog music has always been on the job. Keep it up boys
Turbo beats supercharged.
And summer tyres beat winter tyres, if you know what I mean :)
don't need them here
As you don't need superchargers while chasing high power. If you want everyday driveability supercharger beats turbo. Summer tyres are better in the summer, but winter tyres in the winter.
Each device has a purpose where it excels.
I just bought my Mazdaspped Miata today!! Im so happy that they start throwing Miata videos out!!!! :D
Its like Haggard Garage but with 10 times the brain cells
10 X 0 = 0
+Trygve Germo Fucking lol.
that is the funniest thing I've ever fucking seen
Seal Boy haggard garage? never heard of her??
Seal Boy haggard garage is a my squad boi shut the fuck up
We all know the Turbo car will go faster. Because it's red.
Once u go black... you never go back ;)
Cops will pull the red car over 1st., then the black one will win
Hercules Rockefeller cops will shoot the black one first... The red one will win
DaVon Clarence Touché
also the turbo car will be faster because you can adjust the boost, whereas the supercharged is limited to the pulley.
Okay but like.... why did they show the turbo install in detail on an MX-5 AGAIN, where they could have shown the supercharger install on an MX-5 and show something totally new?
They showed the supercharger last episode. And this episode was just an overview anyway.
For a detailed supercharger installation, check the Mini series
there is little detail to show in the supercharger install, it's a few bolts and a belt. We covered Supercharging in Detail on the Mini, and we'll show some more of this MX5 kit later on, it is however a kit that just bolts on and everything to do with FMIC pipes, air filters, injectors, engine management is the same between the two cars.
10/10 would be keen for an in-depth MX5 supercharger kit video
Can't find the super charger install on the mx5 / Miata have they posted it yet?
"I've been scuba diving...."
Hahah, Martin you crack me up mate.
Can't think of a better thing to watch on my birthday :D
Aiden Wilkinson happy birthday
Cheers man, and happy birthday to you stoner
Aiden Wilkinson awesome! Mine too!
Happy birthday broseph
Omg 😁 Thanks guys
I love the boxer tease! Keeping everyone hyped for future projects!
That spare Ez36 just casually sitting in the background though 3:14 Are we gonna see some more super gramps awesoness?
I want more!
is it a 36? it could be from a 3.0 legacy tho. Pretty much same thing tho :) :)
Dazzmond I'm assuming it's a 36, Marty has said he wanted to push the limits of Super gramps. So having a second engine as a backup would make sense.
or a fully built one?
I hope so, I suppose there is no reason for him to have a ez30. Cant wait for another episode on theSubaru :)
I would have probably taken the time to drop the sump to ensure all of the metal shavings from the oil return were removed. The time take would be good insurance as if there is any of this metal in the sump, you can say goodbye to you engine.
Other than that, love your work.
MX-5 with a 13b swap, Then you will see the car Mazda 'could have' built
can you guys do a rally car build?
Oh man. Have you seen their mod max? That's a RallyX build!
Outfap
@@jrichie333 Except they look like dick. ;)
I want to know where they find all these super clean cars. Every mx5 I've seen is a complete pile of garbage
should see the complete rotboxes in the uk
they were probably pretty expensive
found one for 5K in florida that was really clean. Needed brake, clutch and an oil pan gasket though.

CockatooDude i couldnt agree more..
I love em...
And the world needs all the sleepers it can get :p
No bragging, No showoff, just... "wtf happend" :D

i did too
Luke Potter the question is why?!
EZ36.....

Did anyone see the H-6 in the background? 2:45
xxxwhitelancerxxx Yeah I think they might be building it
Forged engine for supergramps methinks
HOLY FUCK, you spotted something coming :D
I wonder what they are gonna do with it?
engine swap or actual porsche? that's the question :D
@12:48 Aaaaaaah that sound when you get the MX5 into reverse xD So much memories of my old one :D Quick tipp: Stomp on the clutch two or three times before shifting into reverse. That usually fixes that issue ;)
turbo wins for 1 reason...
bwaaaap stu tu tu tu
reeeidiculous nothing like a supercharger "gneeeeeeeeeeeeeeee"
reeeidiculous they both have ups for sound, it depends if you like a scream or a hiss out of your cars 😂

they both have their ups and downs but nothing beats a flutter
I like that downward manifold, makes the exhaust flow better, just make sure the CHRA is clocked right!

I love NBs. Them and NDs are my favourite generations.

Na>nb because pop ups
I like the NA too, but I find the NB adorable and really good looking. Technically I think the NA, NB, and ND are very closely matched, while the NC is a distant 4th.
Which Miata is best Miata?
All but the NC.
at this time, they don't know the trouble they would be facing with the turbo in the Yaris XD
I cried when Herbie Hancock came up, I love you

would love to put together the same comparison except with a V8...
Invincible Extremes Muscle Cars Garage EXACTLY
well srt8 jeep one with supercharger anf one modded with turbos
Fuck yeah.
Ls swap dude!
Hey, a Flyin Miata LS3 swap is only $30k USD, so let's get er done!
Awesome works, chaps!
You've come such a long way. Congratulations.
Any one notice the EZ36 on an engine stand at 16:35?
Don't forget to compare things such as fuel mileage. Most cars i threw a turbo on got better mpg. Willing to put money the supercharger gets worse mpg for normal street driving. Keep it up!
What happened to 2sexy and the 180????
dont worry it always happen wait a month or so for final episode
they were both scrapped, look at his instagram page, they ran out of rego and they scrapped them
They were out of rego when they started the series - that's why they're making track cars and not road cars. They mentioned at the end of the last video on that series that it was going on hold for a while, while they did 'another big project' (that's clearly this series). They didn't ever say they were scrapping them.
Thanks MCM! Now I want an MX-5 even more! My heart says supercharging but my mind says Turbo! I need one or the other! :)
What size wheels and what are the tire sizes? Im really interested in how they got t that meaty sidewall look to the tire. @ 12:51 you can see what I mean.
we need an answer
0:42 Mazda did make turbo MX-5 from the factory, called the mazdaspeed 5. It was a marked improvement and really balanced the car's performance nicely. 2004 model year upped power from 106 kW to 133 kW under 8.5 PSI boost. Yes I did have to look up the numbers in kW since I live in USA and am more familiar with HP where it went from 142 to 178
The turbo one will be faster... but that's because it's red.
I get the feeling this will become a classic Mighty Mods series in due course
Why didn't you use a roots type supercharger?
For sure but centrifugal is pretty wicked how relative boost matches revs.
turbo for low rpm and supercharges work best at high rpm. can't wait to see the next vid. good jobs guys
Turbo will win, all we know red cars are faster than any other colour :)
One hell of a job Marty and Moog! Very clean setup.
Nice weldig job Marty!
Thanks for having this channel, very usefull and entertaining.
Keep up the good work!
Where is that subie engine from? The one in the background with the bunny on top.
Zcypot it's a 2.0 or 2.5 depending on the car it's from. BRZ 2.0 or 2.5 from Legacy, etc. maybe from a turbo car? Hard to tell they all look the same now. Heck I dunno
J Tattrie it's a 6 cylinder 3.0 or 3.6
raterbeast yeah! I only saw a pic from the front, watched the vid again, now it's gonna get interesting!
J Tattrie yeah, they briefly showed the side in the beginning of the video!
Zcypot could be out of super gramps?
A maaaaad MCM Ep was just what I needed after my first HSC exam.
When u just finish ur first hsc exam and this comes out
lol, i just did my first english exam a few hours ago. i was gonna study for tomorrows one but mcm is life
+tytuu fuck it im already over it
MCM > Whales that look like boats
What if you would build in a compressor, lets say an electric or gasoline, whatever, as long as it puts out a lot of air, what if you would lay down some air hoses and have the nozzle spray air into the turbo inlet, would that give you some extra oomf?
Am I the only one that noticed the new music at 9:40?
not the only one..do you know where I can find that song?
it's not a brand new song. i first heard it a month or two ago i believe
Spotify
It's really been fun seeing these two go from using markers to blacken out their cars to doing some of the fabrication that would normally be handed off to Turbo Yoda or someone else.
So early and I live in Ireland
I also live in Ireland
MON THE IRA!!!
Marko C yay Ireland I'm in Dublin
God save the queen #kidding
same
Everyone on TH-cam is dong mx-5s but y'alls are actually nice
No supercharger install video, like this? Disappointed :/
Nic Wilson was already installed dude
Because too easy, shown in Mini episode :)
The Mini is a roots blower, not a rotorex. Entirely different setup.
Oh, sorry. I thought they actually bought the kit and installed it
I would be really interested in seeing how they compare for MPG averages once they are tuned. Could be an additional cool way to look at them since the comparison between them is strictly turbo vs supercharger. Maybe even another pricing factor for longevity of owning the car, which one can you beat around on for longer. Either way, great content and loving it!
3:28 is that a porsche engine?
AEBROS Dickson I think it's an ez36 (Subaru)
Patrick Dalangin Lol the rare engine out of a svx?
no, the 3.6 from tribeca
rudkacka OHHHHHH o.o
BTW, good choice making the red one turbo and the black one supercharged, it just seems appropriate. Turbo is much better suited for the drag strip which is a showcase venue No Doubt. While supercharging is more apropos for track or daily driving, making black a much more suitable color... Good choice gentleman...
Bring back the Honda S2000 unicorn 🦄
the oil restrictors are also there so your engine can keep oil pressure.
without them all you oil pressure ends up in the turbo, and you'll "run" a bearing as your crank runs out of oil.
Even if the turbo car is slower, I will still never be a fan of the whine. #whistleforlife
SUUUTUTUTUU > wahhhhhhhhHHH
I'm only a fan of supercherger whine with v8's
The centrifugal supercharger doesn't whine does it?
There is no whine with a rotrex . It actualy has the turbo flutter when you let off gass .It is almost impossible to tell if its a rotrex or a turbo.
The MX5 NB8B models have almost perfect room for turbo chargers because the SE model DID come with a stock turbocharger. So it would make sense that the space is set up for one in a NON-turbo spec from the factory.
3:30 anyone else think they should swap that motor in the back on the stand into a miata?
Kevin Duong No, that's most likely the new forged engine for super gramps or the old engine out of it. It's a H-6 engine so I doubt it would even fit.
But a ls swap would fit in a miata
Kevin Duong Yes, and? That engine isn't an LS.
anything will fittttt
Gotta be a built EJ36 for Supergramps.
Moog's disappointment in the bends joke was fabulous, haha!
I see what looks like a Subaru motor with a stuffed bunny on top of it in the backround @ around 14:06, future project possibly?????
To be fair, whoever TIG'd the exhaust... bravo. Great job
big fan of the MX5's. if you can. put a corvette engine in an MX5.
Daniel Fernandez toms turbo garage did a video series on that.
cool thx
Daniel Fernandez i saw an LS1 from a Corvette in a Miata at a car show this summer
nice! i just saw the ls1 build all the way through. i would give my first born to do a project like that.
Flyin Miata will happily put a LS motor in a MX5, make it street legal, 50 state emissions compliant, and do everything necessary to the suspension and chassis to make it handle the power.
Cars look good, boys look good, flat six in the back with the bunny looks good. Yep, we're all accounted for. Cheers, guys!
Similar to twin turbo just without the smaller turbo spooling up faster.
if you not already subbed to haggard garage do yourself the favor
MrFJtBaller305 get out
MrFJtBaller305 B is for build is much better
^^^this. dont bother with the hacks
Banks4004 what?
JSR cars is like the old OG haggard garage, they are better
Still excited to see what you think of the supercharger as a guy that's fitted Rotrex chargers before :)
honestly the magic build is
>flyin miata II kit, minus the electronics and turbo; $2000
>used garret GT2560R/GT2554R/GT3071R; anywhere from $500 to $1000 depending on condition, be prepared to do a rebuild on it with a rebuild kit
>used megasquirt 3; around $500 should do you
>a good set of higher flow injectors; around $300
so for $3300 on the low end you get all the mechanical stuff completely plug and play, no guesswork, and megqsquirt has a massive online database to learn from to get you on the road, then almost any tuner will happily get you up with a really good tune on a dyno for a few hundred
That Red Mx5 is one of the nicest I've seen, huge find on their part
Definitely one of the coolest series of episodes you've done. Can't wait to see the results! (I think I'd rather own/drive the supercharged one)
In Germany you always need to buy the kits, because if there's any chance to get the paperwork needed for registration (/TÜV) it is with a full kit.
daamn you guys are getting better making custom pipes! awesome!
Dump pipe?
Also, my turbo install was completed in 12 hours start to finish.
There's talks for Mazda to make an ND one.
marty has gotten really good at welding, good job mates
I'm enjoying the re-runs again.
That paint on the red mx5 is in great condition!!!!
Been waiting a while for this one, thanks boys!
CONGRATS ON 2 MILLION SUBS... WONDERING WHAT YOU'RE DOING WITH THAT SUBIE ENGINE IN THE BACKGROUND!
Nice installation. There is tons of room on those right hand drive cars. NA or Euro spec cars are a PITA.
