They didn't even get close to the North Pole. They got to the 1996 magnetic north, but they this was filmed in 2007. The 2007 magnetic north was 150 miles away since it does change every decade. They were 1200 miles away from the geographic north pole.
Also they didn't make it to the North Pole. They made it to the 1996 Magnetic North Pole which was about 150 miles away from the 2007 North Pole and 1200 miles from the true North Pole. When Jeremy says "We are the most Northern people in the world" he's incredibly wrong.
@@Chris-lr2qb But the magnetic north pole was what they said they were aiming for anyway, they never claimed to aim for the actual north pole. Also, all vehicles made it. The backup truck was the one they physically drove across the "finish" in the film, but you can still see the one they drove up until that point in the background in the final shots, as did the black pickup for the camera crew. And the other camera vehicle that followed Hammond got up there as well.
@@ChaosZero. It's not that amazing the cars that are designed for it made it, especially when they had two world class engineers with them on hand as well as million of pounds of BBC money. It's more surprising crusty Jeremy and James made it, they're not exactly pushing 30 with healthy lifestyles. That's more impressive to me that they got the medical clear to even do this.
It's funny to watch... ...but you have to realize that two overweight, untrained and mostly uncooperative men (one of which didn't even want to go) made it to the North Pole. A hundred years ago people using the best technology of the time, with years of physical and mental training and preparation, would fail and die on the same trip.
I love the way James was showing his anger in such gentleman way.
“I am unspeakably outraged with You”
“Seat the pole! ♠️”
Jeremy doing manual labor is truly something to behold
What do you mean you haven't seen clarksons farm yet?
Why? Is it now a racetrack?@@newjones1754
The first person ever to go to the North Pole… who didn’t want to be there.

Close enough lol 😂
@@ejkk9513 Fair play to them either way, but did they ever try driving around Crewe?
"Hammond. May. Bad luck..."
It sounds like he's just dropped his coffee when he's crushing a man's soul.
Top 3 best lines in old Top Gear.
"Princess Diana had one of these" might be #1
@@laszlopunaflex6625 My favorite is “Tell you what, if that Fernando Alonso swerves into our car, he’ll be buggered”
Richard the real mvp😃 James and Jeremy wouldnt last riding that sled
the dogs wouldnt last jeremy
One of the most beautiful shots in the show’s whole run is this. The sunlight looks almost alien 6:00
GREAT SUCCESS
5:35 i do james' dance here when im excited
When period cramps
If you pause at 10:34 u can see the backup car (which actually made it) cause jeremy had to destroy the real one with his driving
the amount of things that must have bern faked / embellished is probably pretty ridiculous. also there's no way these guys slept in tents in -40c
Yay! A part 2 to the Challenge!! Please keep doing this guys!!!
These were the real OG's of Top Gear. The show was never the same after them 😢
"you can't build a tent by shouting"
1:30 The amount of times I've used this in real life is worrying.
7:02 'I am never again complaining about the quality of a hotel'
Awk-ward!
So glad I still have the original showings of this and Vietnam saved to my PC...
been waiting for this!
This is actual history!
Would you have Spam at the North Pole?
Anytime's a good time for Spam.
some of the great british explorers right here folks
"Bad Luck" 😂🤣
Surprised no one mentioned that it was the backup vehicle that made it. The original failed.
It's all about male ego. Of course they didn't mention this.

It's also a TV show made for entertainment. It's not like you're watching an educational NatGeo special and finding out they faked it

The first real classic :D
Nah the caravan one was
Wouldn't mind visiting that C-47.
I really hope Hammond made it up there
Do the caravan holiday next
Ah good got the continuation too
it's the most wonderfull time of the year
8:54 de_survivor lol
"Seat the pole"
2:45 its like 3-year olds fighting
Well, from there things can only go south
I wasn't the first to arrive but as you can see, i have done this properly.
That’s what she said
More of this and less clip compilations please.
Team Dog 😂😂
Is this a reupload?
Complete reckless abandon by Jeremy and James

Am I the only one who thinks that the North Pole is at N 90°?
Hello my frend
Circle in sand abba
This shouldn't be called "Top Gear Classic". Change the name of the shltty version you made and restore honor to the name.
I'm sure the owners of the brand will listen to you.
I hate these cuts, butchering the show
Clarkson punched someone for not being able to get a hot meal at the end of a shoot at a hotel
That was a long time ago.
You have the choice of getting over it and moving on OR don't support them because you are Sooooo outraged.
He also punched Piers Morgan for being Piers Morgan. What a legend
