@@jonathanerickson1543 I totally missed this, but there is definitely money to be made in racing even if you aren't one of the largest companies. I have experience both in the engine building side of drag racing and in the circuit racing part of the industry working as part of the pit crew for endurance and short series racing, building cars from the ground up, and repairing a wide variety of cars from Pro Formula Mazda and Ferrari Challenge to 1956 Devin Roadsters in classic series'. I'm sure others do it differently, but based on my experience service and vehicle sales are the big money makers for a lot of race shops.
@@ahmedracing1821 Honestly it depends entirely on the application, use case, tuning, and maintenance of each individual vehicle. For example, a small engine that utilizes a low pressure turbo to create just a little more power to improve drivability while maintaining good fuel economy will probably last longer than an engine that utilizes a turbo to create 1000+ horsepower to be used for racing. The same thought process can be applied to naturally aspirated or supercharged engines. A naturally aspirated engine that is making a lot of power through the means of bigger cams, increased stroke, higher compression, etc. will likely fail before a turbo engine that has the main goal of fuel efficiency. If improperly maintained or frequently run under heavy load, either engine could fail prematurely. So, all that being said, there are a lot of variables that determine an engine's longevity. When choosing or building an engine having a solid plan or goal in mind should be the first thing you do. From there, just make sure you keep up on the maintenance and any engine could theoretically last an indefinite amount of time (subject to natural mechanical wear and replacement of those worn parts of course).
@S N To be a mechanical engineer absolutely. Most mechanical engineering programs will require several levels of calculus and differential equations (linear algebra isn't usually required but can make other coursework easier). Additionally, most of the fundamentals of engineering are calculus based such as physics, various mechanics and dynamics courses, etc. On the race mechanic side of things, math is still very important but is not nearly as advanced in practice. As a race mechanic, you will need a basic understanding of algebra, geometry, and possibly some calculus (for the purpose of understanding physics). As a race mechanic, I mostly used basic math/geometry for measurement and fabrication purposes. The most important skills to have for this job are a good understanding of automotive systems, problem solving and diagnostic skills, computer skills for data logging/tuning/diagnosis, and the ability to not get burnt out. Yes
That means your passion lies with cars. You are destined to be a mechanic/auto tech. Hop to it my boy
Was thoroughly enjoying this oratory of dual blown screw jobbies and then nearly spit out my drink when golf club guy showed up to the party! Fantastic video fellas!
Great video! Suggestion, demonstrate a fuel injector operating with pressure on it... maybe get into pulse width... or the difference in larger flow rate injectors and the accompanying fuel pump and lines.
7:18 “HOT DAMN”
He he

for you guys information, I explained this kind of video to my daughter just because I can.
This channel is so great even my wife is here watching the supercharger mechanicals with me. She's not happy, but who cares
Again! I watched videos on TH-cam here years ago! And still awesome! I remember junk science and no one getting straight to the answers without numbers and possibly metal densities (lol) Anyway! Unrelated! I love the enthusiasm when you grabbed the part!!!! I am warming up to the idea that a super charger for my newly rebuilt 2000 wrangler 2.5L might actually be a functional option as the internals seem they might last longer than a turbo and I would get more power! Now is thier an affordable kit that has been tried, true and tested on vehicals! Seriously vehicals!!!!!!
Next videos RAMCHARGERS!!!
0:10 ye but turbos sound good doing it
stuuustututu

How to make 35 MPG in a half ton truck? Pre 2007
Do that.
Half ton is more like a golf kart. Most small cars are over one.
Hailstorm don’t think he was talking about how much the truck weighs
@@hailstorm7868 the truck understander has logged on
Engine swap
Or fuel injection and a less aggressive cam, and other bits could boost your stock fuel economy, at the cost of power
