Re: jungle. The PU monthly report mentioned planet tech v5 and jungle “Alongside this, the revamped material scattering system now supports physically based distribution, allowing for denser biomes, such as jungles and forests, by eliminating distinctions between small and large mesh ground covers.”
I disagree with the opinion that all tractor beams should work the same as the mech. Or that you can switch modes.. This is what kills the whole purpose of having the mech if the small tractor beams can do it just as good. Why?? And then people will complain that the mech is useless and has no functionality. No shit, when the ones complaining about the game is removing uses for vehicles aswell. That's my opinion. Handheld tractor beams for tactile finer use and the mech for heavy use.
The problem with this take is that the scrolling thing is a UX problem that shouldn't have been there in the first place. At least the max lift and ship tractor beams should have this feature and balancing should be done via weight and range. The max lift has reduced range, the mech has medium range and more max weight and the ship beams have long range and the highest max weight, but are stationary.
Why do you need a robotic suit to run a tractor beam? Isn’t the point of the mech suit that it provides you with the ability to do heavy lifting? It seems to me that it would be better to re-work existing tractor beams and use mech suits to allow for moving cargo in armistice zones.
@@AnswerTheCallSC for sure Mike, It was a joke and a reference to CIG pushing your buttons for having a C2 unlike everybody else 😆 granted, it may not have been a good joke..
Yeah, never made any sense that banging a cargo box against the cargo deck or a door opening would result in the ship exploding. I can understand denting stuff, maybe breaking stuff, but the ship just exploding is crazy.
Things are starting to shape up for Star Citizen. I played 3.24 and the cargo missions are working. Early parts... I havent tried the later ones. Still there are missions that do not work like the RE-UP missions. (I love smuggling) The terminals were all removed for drugs (which is a bummer) but cargo is in a good place. I look forward to working with the Mech when its in game. So I did have a positive experience in SC. Still a lot of things go work on but still I see the progress. Way to go CIG! They should be praised for overcoming this hurdle of a patch. I am looking forward to seeing what 4.0 brings. The Zeus to me is not that big a deal for me. However the Mech is for me. The big one for me is Server Meshing... So LETS GO! Go CIG.
An EVA breaching/boarding exosuit would be cool if it allowed you to latch to a hatch, force the hatch, and then push you through the hatch onto the ship you've just boarded. Ooh. Crazy idea: portable exosuits that *fold up into a 1-scu crate* so you can bring it places in/on ships that only have exterior cargo or very low-ceiling cargo space.
Nah, on these servers you'd just latch onto the door, desync, end up half way in the ship, get the suffocation noise, ship would rubber band a few times then you'd die. No servers, no game. Fix the servers, CIG.
The point sikmikaniko made about the freight elevator placement is valid for a good amount of the ships currently in game, but I don't think it's something that can be prevented. There are ships that have their cargo loaded from the side of the ship (caterpillar, hull a, polaris). Since there is no standard as to which side of a ship cargo is loaded onto, you will end up running into this inconvenience. I think one way they could alleviate this inconvenience would be to use the trolley idea they had, but just apply it to the elevator platform itself. When the elevator comes up, everything could just be on a hover/wheeled platform that can be moved out of the elevator and positioned in your hangar as you see fit. You could still run into some problems depending on the dimensions of the ship compared to the hangar, but I think it would be convenient more often than not. As for the overall tractor beam modes discussion, I think you can justify the mech having both modes and the hand tools not. I think the ship tractor beams should have both modes as well. Basically you can write it off as the fast placement mode on a beam requiring a more stable platform than your legs.
I mean you can position the ship any way you want, just cockeye the cat and both sides will be visible to the freight elevators, don't they only spawn in large hangers?
I kind of disagree with him, as even if you have a rear facing cargo bay, and the cargo elevators are where they are currently, you only have to rotate 90ish degrees from the ship to the elevator rather than 180 if it was directly behind you. Having it where it is facilitates the best possible loading position for all ships, side or rear loading.
@@beavschannel5217 The thing is, where they are right now it does not facilitate. If you had the FEs on north/south parts of the hangar, you wouldnt have to park in angle (which is not intented in the first place) but it would be the shortest path to unload/load ships. Even the Catterpilar.
Prepare for Titanfall! I actually really like your take with all tractor beams like this It would remove some of the friction. I hope this isn't a store item, i hope it's in game or for rep and they sell skins for it. I hope they do more surprise stuff like this in the future because it's fun to have some things we don't already know about
I agree Argo is not military but it does not mean they can't co build something. I always thought argo should have a FOB pod drop ship. Imagine an argo raft, minus the bottom living quarters and have drop pods of different assortment that it can carry. Examples, an gun turret pod with size quad size 3. A missile turret pod that has 30 size 2 missiles. An area shield maybe size 2 or 3 that covers an area and can overlap with other shield pods. A medical pod, garage pod. A troop pod that has 2 turrets with 2 size 2 guns. Basically argo should be able to work with others to help the war effort
Oof. My A/C broke a few weeks ago, and you def dont want to run a gaming PC in a house with no air conditioning. 😂 Addendum - completely agree on the Exo being the first vehicle bought with in-game currency, or as a reward.
I do feel it would be interesting if the ship and tractors beams strong enough could pull more then just one box at a time. Maybe have a mode that allows multiple boxs to be pulled but you can turn it to a single box pull also.
If feel neglected and betrayed by CIG having bought a Drake Mule with all the expectations of what the ATLS now provides. I still love the little thing and find it adorable.
Why doesn't the hangar have dedicated tractor beams? 1 in each elevator, who can move multiple boxes at once. and maybe in the top corners of the hangars
Yes, yes, yes!!! Please CIG make the Mech a reputation reward then sell skins to me...even if the skins are really expensive I would buy them! No more selling everything.
We need to have high value Volatile cargo that is unstable when moved by tractor beams. Gives the Mule and other tools a reason not to use beams for everything.
I mean, I think the Exosuit is pretty obvious and honestly somewhat a spoiler for Squadron 42. Quite a while ago in a few monthly reports for SQ42 were mentions of the Titan-Suit (if I am not mistaken). My interpretation at that point in time was that those were probably more Asset-Development (standing in the background) and maybe for NPCs (specifically for a Boss-Fight since it seems there are quite a few of those in SQ42). I really didn't think we would be able to control those ourselves in the campaign... ...but given how they release this on such short notice and the general experience also already working somewhat well I think this builds on SQ42 tech and that would mean we will be able to play with a Titan-Suit somewhere in the campaign (I honestly thought they will only do that for NPCs and maybe give us a Titan-Suit Mission in the Sequel). The ATLS itself I think is however something they developed specifically for SC with the tech they had from SQ42 since it's function is for Cargo-Hauling and I really don't expect we will do much of that in SQ42. But given that I now think we will have Titan-Suits playable in SQ42 the amount of variety in that campaign simply keeps growing (in this case the vehicle variety). I don't think we will be in that Suit for long (probably only parts of 1-2 Missions) but that now gives us: FPS-Gameplay, different sizes of ships (since I do think we will fly larger ships than a single-seater at some point) that also behave different in Space and Atmo, probably ground-vehicles, boats, Exosuits, Turrets. At this point I can't think of a different way of transport they could add in a sequel except maybe submarines 😂 What I want to say with this is that it enforces the idea somewhat that SQ42 missions are designed to be divers because one of the biggest questions around SQ42 is still if the Mission-Design will become to similar and boring over the playtime since we have only ever seen parts of one mission a long time ago and SC has nothing yet we can take as a baseline for SQ42 for this. (here I am again, the SQ42 person who sees something new from CIG in SC and immediately thinks about what this means for SQ42)
You don't even point out that the recent nerf to beams was a clear sign at selling this. This game will die in a pool of gamer piss. Sooner than later.
If this is a quality of life thing, if this is CIG reworking tactor beams because they realize their old concept doesn't work too well on fixed points, then this should just be provided for free in everyone's hanger. I don't really want to see something where CIG recognizes their tractor beam implantation kind of sucks. They experiment until they come up with this as a solution and then try to sell it to Caterpillar owners for real money. At the very least just make it dirt cheap and included with every ship that was supposed to have a tractor beam but really I say just make it a part of everyone's hanger. Ironically I didn't think the mech was worth more than 30 seconds of conversation or so but now here I am commenting on it.
The thing they need to focus on for this Cargo Empire patch is fixing the vehicules beams... They are still so bad, has anybody tried the caterpillar..?! You can't even see inside the cargo modules.😢
So Sorry Mike, CIG will never take outside advice aginst their own glorious monetization, but I agree it would be so much better to monetize cosmetics over functionality.
Please please please please don't sell it. Love Croncys idea of the exosuit beinf a rep reward! Maybe with the introduction of that shipping guild organization
Nah can't agree with you, Croncy. The Retaliator is hideous. It looks like someone stuck the cockpit of a blown-up Gladius onto the face of the Vanguard.
They're just messing around at this point seeing what they can do. Pyro, not to mention countless other features/regions/gameplay-loops, delayed or cancelled, but plenty of time to work on whimsical side projects like this. This is where backer money is wasted, how many side projects similar to this do we never see? Not impressed at all with this.
Hmm i dunno i doubt this vehicle was a huge investment? Fundamentallly they network code seems to suck.... We all just waiting to see if thry can fix it before they go bust
