18:34 To me, it sounds like CIG is trying to say why Server Meshing is NOT the final hurdle to getting features, game-loops, missions, progression, etc. into the game more quickly and in something other than tier 0 or 1 state. Despite the devs coming over from SQ42 and all that jazz. I admit that I am a pretty big cynic when it comes to the development of this game. BUT come on folks, read those tea leaves. It sounds like another reason they've given to excuse why increased developmental progress in Star Citizen the MMO won't actually be happening... It makes me mad and it makes me sad. @DaringDan sums it up succinctly in the comments. That said, credit where credit is due. I am more hopeful about crafting and in-game rewards after seeing what they've done with contested zones.
If course it has never been. They could have had back end server meshing like they have now right from the get go with lumbar yard they just didn't want to pay for it. If it really was the last hurdle we would have had a perfectly playing no desync build with like 20 people and then they could have added meshing and scaled up from a working product.
Im so glad that people compare SC to Eve, because the only difference between the two as far as content is the amount of time theyve had to do it. Eve is 20+ years old, and they had development time even before 2003 when this got released, so for us to complain and whine about Star Citizen not having features yet that are STILL planned but just haven't quite made it yet baffles me. We still have 10+ more years by EVE standards before we see this thing become what we want, so chill out, sit down and watch the magic happen. Let CIG cook, Rome wasn't built in a day.
This. It's exhausting seeing people complain that CIG haven't added in systems they said were coming. Sometimes content creators are a real chore to listen to because they either don't listen, don't want to listen, or want to farm views by pretending they can't listen.
Or hear me out people are complaining about features hyped up years ago that are still no where in sight or have been completely abandoned for a whole new concept, not only that CIG has a team of over 1200 employees compared to whatever elite had and yet still elite is able to deliver completed content rather than continuous tier 0 core mechanics to the game like SC. Hearing everyone trying to defend them and coddling up to Chris is what’s really cringe then hearing them whine that others aren’t enjoying the game like they are is hilarious

But let them cook... Sure
What a crap take, Eve started with 10 times more content than star citizen, and game development gets easier every year that passes. It’s not really about the components, it’s about the gap in PvE gameplay being more noticeable now Pyro is here and PvP is more filled out than PvE. As long as PvE is given a major focus over the next 12 months I think it will be fine but putting all in game rewards behind PvP content as well has having a barebones PvE experience that hasn’t changed for 7 year has pissed a lot of people off. Imo they would have done better making improvements to PvE gameplay than focusing on PvP, because PvP will inherently improve as you improve PvE given the nature of SC, the same isn’t true in reverse. Why don’t they simply put the current PvP rewards into rotation at distribution centres, and finish that loop off with a focus on PvE content. Wouldn’t that make everyone happy? Even if completing multiple distribution centres in a chain only gave you a percentage chance of gaining one of the rewards, a whole ship or a single component. This would make CZ’s still be the greatest pay off for the highest risk but it wouldn’t feel like there was nothing for PvE players.
CIG can absolutely get away with another 12 months of a poor player experience. Static Server Meshing has only moved the "server performance excuse" on to Dynamic Server Meshing & when that is implemented it will only move it on to "Optomisation". There's going to be no phase change, things may improve & I certainly hope it does but backers have suffered through this for half a decade & they will continue to do so. I expect there is an absolutely frightening amount of refactor that needs to happen before there are big leaps in playability. If they improve the state of the product, sales will grow.
