The BBC has a lot to answer for, when a vastly experienced car guy like Chris is giving them a stark warning, and then that warning is basically ignored, it shows how rotten the organisation is.
Remember the BBC World production in which a diplomat's daughter acted out the role of a field hospital director giving interview while dozens of patients were being rushed in and then lined up on the floor and put under white sheets, crying children getting buckets of water thrown into their faces? The behind the scenes footage had the extras getting up from under the sheets, but NATO had all the ammo to go and bomb the sht out of Syria, "because evil dictator". Interesting you didn't point out the scientifically illiterate and pretty dishonest retconning of the truth Rogan did at the beginning. It isn't "green energy" companies that lobby for political influence, its literally the opposite (koch brothers, CATO institute the list goes on and on). Even if an EV draws 100% of its energy from a grid that is 100% coal, due to basic laws of thermodynamics and the fact that heat engines thermal efficiency scales with size, the CO2/km driven for that EV will STILL be lower than an ICE operating at even the highest rated thermal efficiencies (~35%). When you consider that a bulk majority of EV's exist in the state of california, and the state of californias energy grid is predominantly nuclear/renewable - that argument completely goes out the window anyway. Either way, EV's aren't the solution to AGW, they help... to a small degree, but the reality is major infrastructural and societal changes would need to occur to offset the footprints associated with our current energy growth output.
Brilliant interview. It seems like only yesterday that Chris was in the JRE before talking about the challenge of the next Top Gear re-boot. Chris, we’d love to see more collaboration with Matt Le Blanc on cars and a car test with Joe would be epic.
Chris, if you're reading this. I'm a mid-50s, Brit. Who is not the biggest petrol head but I like cars and enjoy driving. Top Gear with Jeremy, James, and Richard was the greatest TV creation. The next incarnation was a hotch-potch of 2 many presenters and 2 many egos competing against one super ego, but you were always the one bright spot. It calmed down after the super ego left, and you shined further, and then once it settled down with you, Freddy, and Paddy, it became a good program again. Though it was always going to be in the shadow of the longest running version. Throughout the whole run from when you started, you've always been the standout presenter.
Always had time and a lot of respect for Chris Harris. Used to read his articles and columns in car magazines and a big fan of him and his channel where you got a sense of what a car felt like in the hands of a petrolhead and a superb driver. 👍🏻
Honest guys having an honest and genuine conversation. What a beautiful episode this was. No bullshit no boring conversations, thank you Joe, you are a treasure!

Chris Harris and Jason Carisma are both one the best automotive journalists out there. Its a shame the BBC ignored Chris's warnings, but not surprising.
@@AkioWasRight If I'm honest, I couldn't care less about him trying to oversell some EV pick up to rich people trying to convince them its something extraordinary. People who buy it know what they are getting into. Most of us can't afford a Cybertruck, let alone a new vehicle so it doesn't affect most of us. I'm sure if we had to chance to drive one, we would have a fun time. Owning one and expecting it to last is another story, but my point is I don't care. The team he has behind him with the slow motion editing and fun banter he brings reminds me of what the old TopGear use to be.
Camisa has such a cheesy, middle school sense of humor. He just tries too hard. Harris is the exact opposite. No BS, just facts. Camisa is all BS all the time.
I remember when Chris Harris was added to top gear, so many people were hating on him. Chris Harris has more knowledge on cars and engines than all former top gear host combined ! Levels to this.
Thats great if Top Gear was a car show. However, Top Gear became way more than automotive review show under Clarkson Hammond and May. People who didn’t care and knew nothing about cars watched the show. If automotive knowledge and driving skill made a good show, Fifth Gear would be way more successful show with Needel, Plato, Butler and Smith.
The day I watched Chris's review on the Ferrari FF I called the local (only in state) Ferrari dealer to see if they would be interested in (at the time) my brand new 2015 Huracan with < 500 miles on it for any FF they had. A week later I drove home in the dealer's show car. The Huracan may have been the better car to live with on a day to day basis, but my FF made me feel an order of magnitude more special when driving it. Some news paper or website in Detroit actually spotted it while parked outside of the store I was shopping in and started to photograph it. When I walked out they interviewed me and even wrote up an article with a picture of it! It goes back to the car being SPECIAL. Thank you Chris (even though i was destroyed when It came time to sell it ;) )
Chris Harris is hands down the best automotive journalist. He's far superior too Clarkson, Hammond, May and the rest. His YT channel was brilliant and Top Gear missed a trick in not making him the main guy and letting him do the program his way!

Great chat fellas.
Bring back Chris Harris on Cars. Chris you're a talent.
Great session. I could literally listen to this conversation for the entirety of the day
Chris Harris was the only presenter that had the same charisma as the OG trio. He was woefully let down by the presenters he had to work alongside.
Cheers, Dave, appreciate it
That is a good point, why don’t you have guys like LeBlanc on? He’s one of the few celebrities with Russel Crowe that we actually want to see.
Availability and fees are probably the biggest stumbling block for them to go on
@@BLOODSHO7Lol Joe doesn't pay people to be on the podcast. People get enough benefit from being on the most popular podcast in history.
Always had time and a lot of respect for Chris Harris. Used to read his articles and columns in car magazines and a big fan of him and his channel where you got a sense of what a car felt like in the hands of a petrolhead and a superb driver. 👍🏻
Watching Chris Harris throw around a P1 like a Miata is insane absolute legend.
I’m not a podcast person usually but will be listening to this in it’s entirety!
Honest guys having an honest and genuine conversation. What a beautiful episode this was. No bullshit no boring conversations, thank you Joe, you are a treasure!
big fan of chris harris, the trio was great but the thing about Chris was that he didn't try to imitate them, he did it his own way and it was amazing.
Chris is the only one on new top gear i like watching
Yep - two comedians and Chris who actually knows about cars
Ofcourse because he is the only legit. Well, was.
Car lists that outshine my GTA garage... Deep.
What a great podcast. Cheers Joe, thanks Chris
The best JRE for years. Chris Harris is on par with Jeremy as the best automotive journalists of all time. Can't wait to see Chris back on TH-cam because he is at his best when he does it his way. I loved he had the opportunity to do Top Gear but he is actually above it. CH could end up becoming the greatest automotive journalist of all time.
Chris is one of the best car journalists out there.
Thank you Joe 2 out of 5 complete
Dave Chappell ✅
Chris Harris ✅
Jeremy Clarkson
Guy Martin
Larry David
(In no particular order)
Please please complete the rest 🙏🏻
Guy Martin would be a great guest but I doubt he would be able to sit still for more that half an hour.
Ģuy Martin and clarkson both would be amazing guests
Even Hammond and May
@@Pascie meh…
Joe just not-so-casually naming off all of his different cars one after another 😂
Kinda flexing until someone realizes he’s talked about all of them in length multiple times on his pod.
Would love to see someone do a tour of his collection.
I like to hear him flex
You’d only dislike all that if you’re broke let’s be real
I havent listened to JRE in years so it was cool to hear what he's got in his garage after he's gotten those massive spotify paychecks.
@@TC-lk2ev super unique way to tell everyone you’re gay
Chris Harris has always been one of my favorite motor journalists. You can just tell that he 'gets it' about cars. This podcast just reinforced my appreciation for Chris and Joe.
Legend of automotive journalism. This is worth a re-watch sometime down the line
What a great bloke. Honest to the core and a real expert.
What an incredible episode, I didn’t even realize three hours had passed!
I like Harris being humble about old top gear and himself. I believe is right up there man. I love this man
Chris seems such a good honest man, and a car driving genius
Harris, talking cars, is one of life simple pleasures
Haven't watched/listened to a full JRE episode in years. That streak broke thanks to Chris
Chris Harris is a good bloke
Brilliant. Just brilliant. Thank you
Glad to know you're also a car buff, as you have one my favorite channels too.
i've only seen clips of joe's show shared on social media here and there. never thought of watching through a whole podcast, but chris harris is such a delightful and insightful guest, that i can just keep listening to for hours. thank you for this
I’ve been waiting years for Chris to come back.
Ten, to be exact.
Chris Harris is a MASSIVE legend. Cherris him
Chris Harris is a legend. Could listen to him talk about cars all day. BBC set him up with an impossible task following Clarkson May and Hammond and he knew it. If you ever read this Chris keep doing what your doing 👊🏼
Never been more happy to sit in an hour of traffic

I took my laptop to work to listen to this conversation while I worked and got nothing done at all. What a wonderful and captivating conversation.
We need James May!
nah. Chris is much better.
And Ben Collins aka THE STIG
I think Joe is annoyed with the other top gear guys over the tesla fiasco
Clarkson would be a great guest
James May was on the Smoking Tire podcast a week ago go check it out
I’m someone knowing zero about cars but somehow enjoying this episode.
Just a great conversation isn't it
I love listening to Chris talk, he’s so well spoken but also funny. Very respectful and calm. Truly just a good listening experience, not to mention the interesting stories and insights.
Chris Harris and Jason Carisma are both one the best automotive journalists out there. Its a shame the BBC ignored Chris's warnings, but not surprising.
Camisa has become a bit of a shill, TBH. That Cybertruck "review" he made was a joke.
Camissa, are you high? Dude is the most unfunny incel on the planet
Yeah both of those guys are on the a-list. Not just from the content they make, but in the values and the way they communicate about "automobiling".
Camisa has such a cheesy, middle school sense of humor. He just tries too hard. Harris is the exact opposite. No BS, just facts. Camisa is all BS all the time.
You need Jeremy Clarkson on here
Never watched a full episode and Didn’t know Joe was such a car guy. New fan here.
I remember when Chris Harris was added to top gear, so many people were hating on him. Chris Harris has more knowledge on cars and engines than all former top gear host combined ! Levels to this.
And is by far the better driver. He does his own drifts while top gear Clarkson and may all used edits
@@vulcanus9384yep. stunt drivers
Idk man they knew a whole lot about like every car that existed
Ok but knowledge was not the main thing that made TG what it was. It was the three musketeers.
Thank you Chris (even though i was destroyed when It came time to sell it ;) )
Got anymore tall tales pinocchio?
@@GEODUCK9 I’ve left enough info in my original comment for you to find the article in question.
Absolutely love chris harris so glad he came back for a second interview. This is one of the best episodes of JRE
Harris is our national treasure, look after him! 🇬🇧
Chris Harris is hands down the best automotive journalist. He's far superior too Clarkson, Hammond, May and the rest. His YT channel was brilliant and Top Gear missed a trick in not making him the main guy and letting him do the program his way!
