- In this episode, James takes a look at yet another Mario game in the Nintendo mega franchise. The game "Mario is Missing!" was originally released on PC, Mac, NES and SNES, but at different times. It came out in 1992 for the PC and SNES, both developed by Mindscape. However, the version that James is playing is the NES version, published by Nintendo, released in 1993. It's also the first game to feature Luigi as the main character, which wouldn't occur again until 2001's "Luigi's Mansion", and for a good reason.

That's because the nerd doesn't review bad games in most of the time, and he said that he couldn't find any bad Neo Geo game. He said so in one of the James & Mike mondays chapters.

What about Urban Champion? Earthbound? Donkey Kong? Pokemon? WarioWare? What about the modern urban environments in those? Nevermind they have plenty of development teams so saying "the Nintendo team" sounds ignorant.
On top of that, this wasn't developed entirely by Nintendo, they were developed independently by other companies - they just licensed it.

The only thing I liked from Mario´s Time Machine was the music. It has some good remixes.
The awesome music track from the abysmal Mario's Time Machine is the track for the last hub world of that game.
I liked the game as a whole. For pc anyway. I liked Megaman Legends too, and they are two legitimately liked games so I don't see the deal.
The graphics were also impressive for a NES game that tried to be like a SNES game

I wouldn't really call something a game if the player cannot lose. I would label that under experimental experiences but I would be hesitant to call it a game. Only possible one I can think of that would counter act this is sim/sandbox games? But that is based off creativity, if you wanted to be abstract here you could say "losing" is the lack of creativity?

Classic episode. I remember as a kid going every weekend to Blockbuster or the local video/game rental store to rent some games and I got tricked by both games and that was one weekend wasted.

Nerd, you should review the DOS version of Mario is Missing, it's comedy gold, also, it created Weegee and Malleo.
You should make some more "revisited" videos where you review games you didn't review yet, but you already done their theme, there are many Simpsons games, Spider-Man games, TMNT games, Transformers games, and others, that you didn't review and should get another chance.

I owned Mario's Time Machine on the SNES... and I actually thoroughly enjoyed it as a kid. Didn't know there was a NES version, but it looks worse. The surfing parts aren't as hard as he makes it out to be. Because score mattered at the end, the best strategy was to go once, learn all you need to know from talking to people, solve the "quiz" and then leave, and then re-enter, solve the quiz and then quickly go to the person you need to see to give back the item to complete the level. I managed to beat it as a kid, and I spent many hours playing it and had fun. Though, as an adult now, I probably would have no interest in playing through it again. So, I guess it worked for its target audience?

It's funny that so many people hate Mario is Missing on the SNES, cuz it's actually a game I really like. Though, it's probably just because of the childhood nostalgia and the music in the game. It's interesting how much effect childhood memories can have on ones judgement.
Luigi's Mansion holds a lot of awesome memories for me. I played that game at least 20 times.

When I was a kid I had both the SNES and PC versions of Mario's Time Machine - I remember I had a really hard time figuring out how to even play them.
In Mario games I always preferred playing as Luigi.
