One of the things I really like about older AVGN episodes is how he seems to sometimes stumble over his words. It lends a more genuine feeling to his reactions.
He's a bit more well-spoken now, and it kinda makes him seem less angry. I still love the new episodes as much as the old ones though

Don't know if anyone mentioned this but, the main reason this game exist is because Japan didn't get the original 86 movie right away, so there were some gaps in between season 2 and 3. To remedy this, they made this game to explain some things, like why Optimus Prime is dead and why it's Ultra Magnus. I'd assume that why it wasn't released in America.
Apparently the movie wasn't released in Japan until 1990.

It was actually based off Transformers 2010 (the Japanese version of the 1984 cartoon's 3rd Season), they explained that Prime died in The Headmasters cartoon, which also had a Famicom game

"mechagodzilla" is probably supposed to be trypticon the giant dinosaur that the decepticons rode around in.
Mechagodzilla is actually Godzilla's robotic counterpart that made its first film debut in 1974. It's Trypticon, of course, but it does look like Mechagodzilla in this game.
Billy Mitchell committed fraudulent acts, but he still was legitimately great at Donkey Kong for a long time. Unfortunately, jealousy and pride got the best of him, and he felt obligated to cheat to keep his record, rather than accept that he had a good run.

The very problem that I noticed with the Famicom, with the fact that you can't change out the controllers, imagine if one of your controllers breaks, then what would you do? You probably had to buy a whole new system, which was even more expensive than buying the controllers themselves. So I'm very sure that in Japan if that happened, they would have to cut the wires, take a different controller and re wire it.

Here's a random piece of info, the floppy version of Transformers for the c64 has an intro that includes quite a bit of speech.

+That Kid With A Camera The difference is that cassettes store only audio, exactly how I am not sure. The cassette player spins the two circular parts, which moves the tape. The player reads the tape as it passes through it, and transfers the data to a speaker. There are no file formats, so the games are stored as audio files which the computer translates to code. CD's, on the other hand, store binary data. A CD basically works like a USB flash drive in terms of how it can be used. Audio CD's contain a special type of file which technically can be stored on any type of digital memory drive (SD Card, USB, DVD, etc.), but they are just most often stored on CD's, for what reason is irrelevant. Therefore, saving a game on a CD is pretty much the same as saving it to a flash drive.

Yes! Just the other day I was reminiscing about that. The station I remember the most was LBC. Every Sunday afternoon/evening, they had a slot in their schedule for computer topics and would broadcast a game over the air, which you would record onto tape and then load into your computer and play.
You then had a week to play the game and reach the ending, in order to phone up the following Sunday and boast to the radio host and of course, your fellow listeners about your gaming skills by revealing the end sequence to everyone in London/the UK/Europe.
Looking back, for the time, that was a pretty cutting edge approach.
How well did that actually work?
