Don't know if anyone mentioned this but, the main reason this game exist is because Japan didn't get the original 86 movie right away, so there were some gaps in between season 2 and 3. To remedy this, they made this game to explain some things, like why Optimus Prime is dead and why it's Ultra Magnus. I'd assume that why it wasn't released in America.
It was actually based off Transformers 2010 (the Japanese version of the 1984 cartoon's 3rd Season), they explained that Prime died in The Headmasters cartoon, which also had a Famicom game

The very problem that I noticed with the Famicom, with the fact that you can't change out the controllers, imagine if one of your controllers breaks, then what would you do? I've never played the old TF games, but the ones I grew up with and played are the TF film games (xbox 360; Revenge of the Fallen had easy controllers and mechanics) and War for Cybertron. Those were one of the golden nostalgias of my childhood game history.

Mecha Godzilla? Easy mistake to make but, no, that's Trypticon. He was a giant Decepticon whose robot form was a huge ass dinosaur, and his alternate mode was a Decepticon base. Think, Decepticon Metroplex, and you'd be on the right track. The toy for Trypiticon was pretty sweet, though. The thing was absolutely massive! And, it had the added bonus of being able to walk around on its own in robot form, when you put batteries in it. Even made sound effects like roars, and laser guns. Plus its eyes would light up, too.

I've never played the old TF games, but the ones I grew up with and played are the TF film games (xbox 360; Revenge of the Fallen had easy controllers and mechanics) and War for Cybertron. Those were one of the golden nostalgias of my childhood game history.

The player reads the tape as it passes through it, and transfers the data to a speaker. There are no file formats, so the games are stored as audio files which the computer translates to code. CD's, on the other hand, store binary data. A CD basically works like a USB flash drive in terms of how it can be used. Audio CD's contain a special type of file which technically can be stored on any type of digital memory drive (SD Card, USB, DVD, etc.), but they are just most often stored on CD's, for what reason is irrelevant. Therefore, saving a game on a CD is pretty much the same as saving it to a flash drive.

Mecha Godzilla? Easy mistake to make but, no, that's Trypticon. He was a giant Decepticon whose robot form was a huge ass dinosaur, and his alternate mode was a Decepticon base. Think, Decepticon Metroplex, and you'd be on the right track. The toy for Trypiticon was pretty sweet, though. The thing was absolutely massive! And, it had the added bonus of being able to walk around on its own in robot form, when you put batteries in it. Even made sound effects like roars, and laser guns. Plus its eyes would light up, too.

Yes! Just the other day I was reminiscing about that. The station I remember the most was LBC. Every Sunday afternoon/evening, they had a slot in their schedule for computer topics and would broadcast a game over the air, which you would record onto tape and then load into your computer and play.
You then had a week to play the game and reach the ending, in order to phone up the following Sunday and boast to the radio host and of course, your fellow listeners about your gaming skills by revealing the end sequence to everyone in London/the UK/Europe.
Looking back, for the time, that was a pretty cutting edge approach.
