That would greatly reduce their content output. Since they don't choose which press vehicles are sent to them. The press vehicles generally are mid to high end to encourage viewers to want to spend more money on the extras. Manufacturers don't make big profit off making base model vehicles. Dealers want the more expensive models for the same reasons. IF consumers truly want to break this habit, they have to come together and stop buying anything other than base models and change the need to want ratio. But good luck with that.😉

Earlier this year we went to shop for a small SUV and every single Corolla Cross in a 50-mile radius of us had $5K market adjustment added to the price for every trim, even the lowest, and that's for the regular, non-hybrid version so I suspect the hybrids are going to be the same if not worse. We ended up getting the Mazda CX-30 for under MSRP.

@@tmwei396 I had a 21 cx30 for a while. Outside the inability to hold a rear facing car seat, I regret selling it. Only needed a headlight because the heatsink fan went bad, but it was far better than the rav my wife insisted in getting to replace it. Comfortable, quick, actual materials on the interior other than cheap plastic. Far, far better. I had a regular corolla cross as a rental and outside the powertrain and the seats, the thing honestly was kinda shitbox material. Built well, and got decent mileage, but man it really felt like low, low 20k range, not low 30s that they wanted for whatever trim it was

I had two corolla, they were both amazing. My 96 drove better than my FRS, because it was so light. If you want a car that is reliable and cheap to own, these are the ideal cars. Alot of new cars put too much fancy stuff that cost so much when they break. Corolla is so simple, that is what is the best part of owning them. Nothing expensive to fix and drown you in debt.

My wife just bought a new CC Hybrid SE 2 days ago, so my own impressions are based on under 75 miles of driving. It's a pretty basic interior, and that's fine. I suspect it will hold up well. I do wish the SE had a few more visual upgrades over the S. You get a few extra features, but the cabin of the SE feels the same other than a leather wrapped wheel and shift paddles.
Same goes for the exterior. I like the painted mirrors and roof rails on the SE, but I'd like to see fog lamps at least.
I do think the extra $1300 for the SE is reasonable. We could have sprung for the XSE, but fake leather is a no-go (as would real leather). We didn't see the value in that extra price.
It's a slightly bland appliance, but it rides nice and has good power thanks to the hybrid system. My wife loves it and I find it perfectly pleasant to be in. We're both happy and that's most important.

Seems like Toyota is particularly surcharging the Corolla Cross buyer: Corolla Cross base to hybrid upcharge is $4360.!! Rav 4 base to hybrid is $2450.-. (yes, that's going from FWD to AWD). The Corolla Sedan hybrid upcharge is $1350.- (yes, I know that car is FWD). This seems like a profit tax. Then there is the limited supply, this would make me look at other brands or if sticking with Toyota, then test the gas only Cross and see if it's satisfactory.

That's kind of asking a bit more it's not even an SE or higher trim level haha and yet this should be the cheapness smaller of the small CUV , I'm sure the reliability will stand by it.

How does Toyota want to compete with other brands when you can get a top of the line Chevy Trax Activ for $24,995. Yes Chevy May not be know for reliability but with newer cars lasting up to 100k with nothing more than regular maintenance why does it make sense to spend 5k more on a base model Toyota. I would even say that for that price difference you could even throw in an extended warranty to make up for any worries and still be underprice.

  • @A_A_J.

An AWD without a rear wiper is an oxymoron. Design the entire CUV to go more than just on asphalt and then in one minute you can no longer see out of the back. I get that you need to save on costs, but to lose your rear windshield? Also I hear that the front windshield doesn't have an intermittent speed. How irritating that would be, anywhere that it drizzles a lot.
