hi Todd
A long time follower of your channel.
That is a beautiful '67 Mustang fastback.
Any classic mustang fastback is a holy grail for the mustang fan.
Oooh I thought '66. I was close
In America 🇺🇸 we Hmong celebrate Hmong new year starting from September all the way to December it’s still tradition celebration.
DATES CONFIRMED! Ok, I knew this would happen, just as the video uploaded the government released the dates for the Hmong New Year Event to be held in Phonsavan. Opening on the 10th January 2024 and the big days 13th - 17th January 2024
Who's going? Hope to see you there!
Is it always held in January?
@@Jaromexxxx No. Last year it was from about the 20th December with the big day being on the 25th. There's a lot involved with setting a date, from the full moon to when the rice harvest has finished and the elders, Shamans, the Governor and officials all agreeing on it
Todds lawn tasts the best ... 🐮
Okay. You busted me up on the _"psychedelic green"._ 🤣
A Mustang in Laos is about as useful as tits on that bull you chased out of your garden mate.
Brilliant video as always, mate. Nice to see Papa and Mina bonding. I’m excited to hear Mina will be going to Oz to meet the rest of her new extended family. She will be the focal point and favorite, to be sure. Always stay safe and healthy. Make sure those dogs stay away from our little princess. She’s getting more beautiful in each video. Take care and cheers, mate.
Just knew you'd love that one John. Thanks for all that you do my friend. Take care 🙏
🤗🙏🏼!
What a trouper, riding all the way, stepping on a pile of poo, didn’t get to play, no whining 👍
Enjoyed the video, thank you.
Take care.
China is similar to Lao when it comes to dates. It seemed that every year I was there the New Year was on a different day and sometimes a different month. And then you had the, "I'm not sure when it is." Hard to plan trips or holidays at times, but as you said, that's Lao culture. Here in the States, we have little to no culture anymore. Thanks again, Todd.
Great video lovely day out together father and daughter time is very precious.
Todd informative and fun as always
The cow just wants a new home lol 😂
All u have to is milk the cow when it comes to visit mate
The mustang was great but what about the upgrade to the sport pick up truck
Todd u should have grabbed one of everything as u we’re being dragged along
It’s good seeing Mina happy and her English is really improving 😊
I totally understand Todd. Nobody can expect the Lao culture to be accommodating when comes to Holidays rooted in tradition. Some Traditions are to be cherished. the supermarket is huge. Mina is handling herself so well on her bike. Will MIna be getting a passport to travel outside the country soon ? How does that work? The bond you and Mina have is so precious. Father and Daughter . As Harriet and I have said, One day we will might it to the Hmong New Year. Thank you for the wonderful video. Hope you guys are doing ok. Jim and Harriet 🙏 Richmond, Va
While it is true that there is no set date for the Hmong New Year, traditionally ---- because it used to be that each village would set its own New Year celebration --- it is generally between mid December to early January. Traditionally, by mid December or so, most families, of most villages (in the high lands), likely have finished harvesting their crops.
The January part of the celebration coincided with the blossoming of a local, highland shrub/plant. From around December to early January, this white flowering plant dominated the landscape of most highland villages Hmong used to live in; and it's the most ideal time to do the Hmong New Year celebration.
Anyway, I hate to bring in "heavy" or "heady" or politically incorrect thoughts... but I think the Phonesavan Hmong New Year is more of a "victim" of local-provincial politics. First, Laos is a Communist country, so the big honchos at the top get to dictate who gets to do what, at what exact date. Second, I think there's been a struggle between the Vienchang leaders and the Phonsavan ones, with the folks down by the Capital having more say. They also have a big, lucrative Hmong New Year down there.
These two cities, Vientiane and Phonsavan, where tens of thousands of Hmong live... are jockeying for the best time slot (THEY WILL NOT TELL YOU that that's going on; you have to extrapolate this information yourself).
I believe the Vientiane folks/leaders want the Hmong in their province to go first, so most of the IN-FLOW of cash from the thousands of Western Hmong --- from a population of up to 500,000 Hmong in the US alone --- would flow into the coffers of local business owners in/around Vientiane, first...
Millions are spent each year, by Hmong in both Laos and the West, on these Hmong Lao New Year celebrations, the last 10 or so years. They are big businesses for local hotel and restaurant owners, because each Hmong from the West who goes to Laos likely spends between $5,000 to $10,000 on a 2-4 week vacation.
Again, Vientiane's leaders/travel industry officials know if you're the first city to cast your net upon these many thousands of newly arriving tourists from outside of Laos, you "hauls" are much larger. When they arrive in Phonsavan, for the biggest Hmong New Year in Laos.... by early January ... most tourists wallets are a bit thinner, so they naturally spend a bit less.
So nice to see you cycling. Minas brake handles are 90° degrees that is not easy to grab, should be 130-140° degrees
She does look good with the red hair!
Another great video Todd.Cheers man.
How great it is to see u riding bikes with that sweet little girl blessings from North Texas ❤
Not that I'm into Ford's but that looks like a 67 Mustang fast back to me , the same model Steve McQueen drove in the movie Bullitt .
Thanks for the update...
I love it when Jar Jar visits you. So funny.
Always great 👍🙂
That is one sick mustang 😊
Another great video day to day life in Laos........you always make us feel that we are right there with you all ❤

Beautiful mustang.

Happy days 👍👍
wow...your place seemed so rural before and now it's really grown up around you....
Thank you still
555 fun video
hi Todd, a trip to oz will blow that little girl's mind. she will learn more than what she could in a month of Sunday's at any school. might be an idea to take her on a short trip on an airplane before you tackle a long haul flight.
That mustang was sweet, always loved the cars with the fastback rear window. We have found that Vientiane has much better food options than Luang Prabang but we miss the mountains and scenery up there
😅😮❤ God bless friends family .uhm beautiful hair style. Colour ..dressing up new year celebrations 🍾 😅😅 ka😊 enjoy ❤️ 😊
Can’t believe I’m watching you chase a cow! Love the channel, keep doing you! Love your viewpoint.
Haha I can't believe it😆
hello guys
talking about dates for Hmong new year and all the traditions , my Thai marriage date was picked like that, the only choice I got was i could nominate 3 month periods, it was all done in Nakhon Si Thammarat and the monks , village cheif and village elders decided the date based on my birthdate and my Thai wife's birthdate. Great video Todd, Mina is coming along nicely
They base the new year of the Chinese new calendar.
Todd I got tell you mate the cows loves your home. 😅😅😅
2lts milk in the uk is £2.50
... 1,90€ in Germany if low fat
Is Mino Hmong or native Lao?She’s a cute kid. She’s one lucky kid to be adopted by euy Neenee and you Todd.
Even though the village she comes from is predominantly Hmong, Mina is Lao.
Thank you
you will be able to show mina the big roo mice you have in oz
"Mina is just looking at the lady" . 😂😂 yeah Todd , it was mina. 👉🍺🍺🍺
You need to put in a cattle grid. Hey, how would book a room for the New Year festival?
Good idea!
Yeah, that's a tricky one.. tried to do it weeks ahead last year at our favorite spot up there and they couldn't wrap their heads around how to do it. They either have vacancies or they don't Lol. We finally did get them to keep us a room for a few days when we were about a week out. If ya want, let me know later if you guys are gonna make it and we'll get them to keep a couple of rooms. No hurry
Running need more beer l
Mina sure looks handsome in those wigs. Babysitting for day and bike ride with daughter had to get way to bond. She keep up very well. Surprising how nice that wall looked. Takes time. Sure you had great day Dad. Hope everything works out for passports, great learning experience in land down under. Stay safe and healthy new family (Todd Neenee Mina)❤❤❤😮😮😮😊😊😊
Thanks Gerald, always appreciate your kind words mate 🙏
they should build the road before build the houses
You need to invite Ja Ja to a BBQ 😋😋
Look at this bastard! He’s back! 🤣
Hey up Todd...
Dont think you gained too many brownie points from meena by laughing when she hooked her foot in the green mystery package....
But in your defense I'd do exactly the same as that's what us Brits do....
Keep doing what you do so well...cheers bud..Andy,Herefordshire England....
Hahaha yeah she wasn't impressed.. pretty sure she would've laughed if I done it! 😝
Cheers mate 👍
i think is fast back mayb wrong.
Hey Todd. Did you put your bike together or did a bike shop do it? I think it may have been put together wrong. That bar that is at the bottom of your forks (the fork thread), right above the front tire normally faces forward, not backwards. You can see what I'm talking about at 9:54. It might operate ok, but it's backwards. Unless bikes in Asia are designed differently 🤷
Ya know.. I think ya bloody right! Bought as is 😕
@@NowinLao I ride mountain bikes so noticed it immediately. If you're just riding around the neighborhood should be fine.
@@chadd9748 Yeah, mainly just to get me to the gym and back. No downhill racing
Im Hmong and I don’t think it has that much to do with picking suspicious dates for the New Year celebrations. Here in the US, the dates are almost always the at the same time/same days (minus a day or 2 to account for weekday vs. weekends) every year, as most celebrations are held in weekends due to people working in weekdays.
Hi Tina.. I think you'll find they do things a little different here in Laos.
Yes I concluded the same thing. Lol
Hmong new year is base on the new moon and harvest. Just that in usa we have to do it on American holidays for convenience to everyone being off work. - leng vang.
Howdy Todd,,that was soooo dang funny. Went from being a sweet little girl,,to a blue haired(or maybe purple,it looked purple in certain lights) a blue haired teenage rebel😂😅 that was good. She was a little trooper on the forced march bike ride. She's gonna stay tough. I'm sure she had fun having a day with papa! You guys take care! Damned shitty dogs! Lol Ttyl,,,Marlon
1:08😂😂😂
I have just one question............where's your wig?
Bloody Jar Jar beast!
Todd, did you ever have a pair of CIAK shoes in OZ? Step in dogs' business with those treads and all day with a stick running it through the grooves. AHHH what a nightmare!!
It's a dog. manpen ma ❤👍👍👍🙏
It's decided to be on Jan. 10th. 2024.
I am in Vientiane at the moment. I just spoke to a Hmong lady yesterday and she told me the festival was postponed till January. So it seems that Jan 10 is correct as you say.
@@sfdez01 it's the new standard here on. All hmong new year in Kaos is to be in Jan.
Looks like a couple of "Oompa-Loompas" escaped the chocolate factory. lol
Beware of a Aussie with a broom, running wild in the bush. You've been warned. LOL LOL LOL
Having a Laos girlfriend they do not paln
Bloody hell, your mum does not look 77.
