Now in Lao .... Vlogging Laos !!
Music:
Origin of squiz: First recorded in 1905-10; expressive formation, perhaps blend of squint and quiz. Noun: a quick, close look.
Ok, I'll go with that. A squinting quizzical quick look at something. Sounds legit 👌
@@NowinLao Yep, I thought so, but had to look it up.
@@Swaggerlot did it say where it was first recorded?
@@NowinLao Cornwall is the favourite start point. Not much original comes out of Oz and NZ, most of it comes from England.
@NowinLao Todd, how about an optic nerve with the omelette lady? I'm not sure the market in Vientienne looks great. And the omelette, too.
While children in Lao work the fields, American children whine about their phones. Thanks again for the wonderful black and white stills and I'll be around for BIG WET E22. Thanks, Todd!
Todd .. your doing us Aussies proud man .. thank you :)
The Big Wet Tour has been quite impressive. The beautiful drone shots of the greenery farmlands. So Beautiful. And how cool is that floating across the Mekong in a truck. We love it.
Hope you guys are doing ok. Say Hello Mina for us Jim and Harriet. Richmond, Va.
1st hello Todd
I love seeing your drone footage of the villages like this one it’s always interested me the layouts seeing them from a birds view
🏆
Nice work Mr Todd, Nene and Mina...bless you all from Sydney. Australia is running itself into the ground following the US. Laos is the place to be Todd. Nice place man.
Great vlog, everything looks old but everything has a purpose. The girls picking young rice cleaning dirt that way. Ferry ride looked like fun. Enjoyed all the drone flyovers so beautiful! Stay safe and healthy Todd Neenee and adorable Mina.❤❤❤❤😮😮😮😮😊😊😊😊😊
I wonder what happened to the boys and men in that village. I've heard stories. 🤔 Haha. I'm not surprised people think Mina is you and Neenee's biological child. She is happy with you two and calls you and Neenee mom and dad. 👍👍 Well done as always. Thanks for 35 minutes of entertainment.
Such an awesome dynamic to the channel❣️❣️🌈👍🏻 I sure hope Papa can springboard learning his Lao from Miss Mina learning English 😉No less credit to Neenee as well...

Take care.
18:30 ... AWESOME drone shots!!!!!!!!!!!
Hey Todd, been there Don Det. Nev
The ride across the Mekong looked fun as the town on the other side was a nice little city with a nice market. Loved when you gave it a whirl at harvesting rice, sorry Todd but I had a good laugh mate. thumbs up for trying, but those ladies and kids were really fast at it, amazing! Love the black and white photos at the end, very nice touch to the end of the video👍 The island was very nice and seemed peaceful with very kind people everywhere. I am guessing this trip is during the rainy season, everything is so plush and green. Bless your hearts for stopping were the kids were harvesting rice, so many kids as I was shocked so many live in such a small place. Life is hard there and so many struggle but seem happier than the greedy people here in the states, dang shame Todd. So glad you left them some items to help them out 🙏 As you say, every little bit helps and I agree. I try to buy things that are from Lao, Cambodia, Vietnam, the stuff is built really good and it lasts so long. I would rather help the countries that need it the most. I eat a lot of rice and Lao has great rice as does Vietnam, but it is hard to find and we have only one Asian store where I go shopping for my sauces, sprouts, and sea food with other items. I can never leave without paying $100 dollars each time and it is once every two months. love to Mina, Nenee and you Todd, so see you on the next video as I have a lot of catching up to do, so far I am having a blast✌peace
Good afternoon Roger.. so happy to see you're enjoying the videos. You mentioned in a previous comment about wanting to know how we came to have Mina. This video below will give you an idea about how it all started..
th-cam.com/video/Gnt1d7F8X-E/w-d-xo.htmlsi=pSoHAq1Hp8WREl5K
But this was only the start. We never seen Mina for another 8 months after this. Once the wet season arrived and school was off we decided to go visit and take Mina on a trip with us. This trip you are watching now. Little did we know what would unfold. If you continue the series from here and the videos that follow, you will learn about how she came to be in our care permanently.
Hope you're having a good day my friend. Take care Roger 🙏
Our houses are built of bricks or stone but not blocks mostly used for story buildings.
Thanks Todd, Neenee and Mina......another beautiful video to watch on Sunday arvo
g-day all
When you're in Thailand Chong Mek to the South - a stack of new looking pick-up Ute's all come through the jungle out onto the road from the Laos direction. Could be a border run or something
What is the maths for 1 x grain of rice planted?
3 plants then replanted to make 9 plants each with 300 grains of rice so 2,000+ grains of rice from a single grain
Loved this video... makes you think you can have little but still be so happy
Yah always gotta have a sqizz at things to keep the masses confused
Another Sunday Night with the Laos crew, good vibes!
hopefully all those beautiful place is not falling in to the Chinese hand looks awesome guys 👌
According to the Oxford Dictionary, “squiz” is a noun that means “a look or glance” and a verb that means “look or glance at”. It is an Australian slang term that was first recorded in the early 20th century and is believed to be a blend of “quiz” and “squint”. Bloody luvya work mate. 👍 Gold Coast, Australia
It's settled then! Nice investigative work mate 👍
Your film is the highlight of the weekend. Thank you very much !!!
Always nice to hear that Alfa.. Thank you mate
Great vid mate 👍👍
Hi Todd,,beautiful farms in a flat country. A couple cool older houses. Had to laugh at Mina,,she was staying separated at the farm full of girls. She probably didnt want to be accidentally left behind! Lol shes such a good girl. Smart beyond anyone's expectations. I've listened to the new Stones album the last 2 days,,all on TH-cam,,overall,,excellent!,,a couple songs not as good as the reast,,, but considering their ages , pretty fabulous. 3 Knights on the album,,,Mick,,McCartney and Elton John.. there is.a new cd from Van the man out too,,was that song at the end off of it? Lol take care Todd ,,Neenee ,,and Mina! Ttyl,,,Marlon
Totally different than up north ay mate. Still bloody beautiful tho. No, the Van Morrison song I used (Foreign Window) is an older one. This version Dylan's on guitar. Will have to checkout that new album. Hope ya been well champ, take care
Love it 👍🙂
The resort would be named sweet waters rather than Pon the river resort.
💯🔥💙👍
Amazing video! May really enjoying the drone stuff too it really does give you a rough idea on where you are going on the trip. Great content buddy 🇬🇧👍🏼🙏🏽

was watching on thialand and india they are starting to grow red rice called rasberry rice says it doesnt need as much water and is better for you
Good vlog and just wondering all these places you visit how would you see all this without a vehicle , are there buses trains etc to visit these places
Hi Todd & Neenee and shrimp,
I've been away for a couple of weeks and just catching up. Two weeks ago you posted a video about shopping for a replacement 4x4. Below are a few words of caution especially about extreme modified cars like that 80 series you posted. These are thoughts from this retired old mech eng who loves 4x4 and off-road, and, when I left school early 1960s I served a full six year apprenticeship in the motor trade before moving into higher level engineering. Just thoughts, not looking start a comment war.
Ref 4x4 shopping- The 70 series take a lot of punishment and will always get you home !
That 80 series or any other 4x4 with a crazy high lift kit like that one... Or silly big wheels and tyres or, anything with wheel spacers fitted to widen the track. AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE.
They absolutely destroy wheel bearings and the related bits, like hubs, brakes, UJ's, and driveshafts. The high lift totally screws up the vehicles geometry- the limits of angles that things were designed to operate at. They can also become extremely unstable on the roads you sometimes travel.
Extremely high maintenance and can be #loody expensive.
One of the very common failures on any make when a vehicle has a high lift done, if you happen to drop into a deep hole or drive over a ridge, the extreme angles can cause the Prop shaft to drop out of the output end of the gearbox. It's a sliding spline to allow for the suspension up and down movement but, it has limits of travel. If you're driving forward and the rear prop drops out, it can dig into the road surface and even cause the car to turn over. I have actually seen a car where the propshaft to the rear axle dropped out due to high angle flexing beyond design limits. The prop dug into the ground and the cars forward momentum actually smashed the rear differential completely. Huge damage and huge money to fix. The entire axle had to be replaced.
My advice- A good vehicle with good quality tyres, maybe heavy duty shocks all round and change ALL the fluids to avoid water contaminated oil issues. Also consider raising the breather vents on axles and gearbox/transmission so they're well clear of water you might drive through. Maybe have tow hooks fitted front and rear- it's better than crawling underneath if you do get stuck. And carry a good rope.
Without doubt Toyota is the best but don't rule out an Isuzu Trooper if you see a nice one.
Hope that helps, it's just years of experience.
Really needed to hear this.. thanks Phil. Nice to know I'm heading in the right direction. With a bit of luck we'll be in something different for our next big adventure. Appreciate the advice mate, thanks
@@NowinLao You're welcome mate, and good luck in finding a good one. Me ? my last one bought new was a 2010 Land Rover Defender short wheelbase station wagon (I'm in UK). Biggest problem was it had Land Rover disease... at 5 years old it was going seriously rusty, despite being treated before it ever went on the road. And don't quote me 😇, the new one that you looked at with a fridge fitted... serious reliability problems with the computers, main dealer fix only, wouldn't touch one with a 10ft pole.
I have a daughter, she's my wife's cousins daughter who we bring up as ours. I went to her school open day on Christmas Day 2020, I met some of her teachers and I was a celebrity with all the other kids. Afterwards everyone assumed that she was half Farang , and everyone thinks she is beautiful, because she is half Farang. Also her grades sky rocketed because she must be really good at speaking English with an English Father. She was so pleased that I went 😂. I didn't like the attention or being stared at by all the kids. 😊. Now she's at University
Yep.. I know that feeling mate, I pick Mina up every afternoon.. and the looks that I get lol. She grabs my hand and walks out, you can see it in their look trying to see the similarities 😆
Good onya mate 👍
Strange they think shes look kreung, she definitely looks full lao.
typical country town Todd, you mentioned this and yes it does and resembles many thai towns and villages that I have stayed in, can you imagine saying that about Straya, Cessnock? ok there is Morpeth, and designer places like Pokolbin, upper hunter beauties like Aberdeen and places like Musswellbrook and some great pubs in between, btw , I am now in Canberra working, sort of boring , too many people from Melbourne hear, they are still aussie , but its like we went to different schools together , Brisbane = Newy=Sydney
Yeah I know what ya mean mate.. they are a little more posh the Melbournites mate. Agree, never found Canberra exciting 😝
Haha Neenee says she is always right. Women are the same 😂 around the world.
In Africa we make bricks same way
❤👍👍👍🙏
No way you'd get grapes for that cheap in Coles or Woolies
I've been gone too long 😧
Coming in second is still better than getting pissed on the leg by a dog. How's it going, Todd?! ; )
edit. I didn't see all the other replies until I refreshed the video! ; )
Looks like the dog did piss on you Michael.. you came in 3rd mate 😝
