    My thoughts:
    • Standing alone is easier than standing with the wrong people
    • Being logistically close to someone, does not mean you're not standing alone
    • Standing alone at the right time builds strength, resolve, and may attract the people you need

    • @TheDionysianFields
      @TheDionysianFields 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +6

I think you mean standing alone is BETTER than standing with the wrong people. But it's also less extrinsically rewarding in my experience.
The idea that it will "attract the people you need" seems like a slight bit of wishful thinking.

However much we find ourselves in a circumstance of being part of a cozy, all-trusting group, a cosmic mind as some people call it, as we grow older we will find invariably that there are reasons that make us different in some way or the other, from those that are our innermost circle. These could be lifestyle choices, a greater preference for solitude and reflection, or, the saddest of them all, a health issue that makes us less and less a desirable person to have close, or that even family find tiresome, irritating, or a sheer nuisance. If these don't form the state of being alone, then the most inevitable of all truths - death - does it in the bluntest way possible.

After surviving a negative relationship with a narcissist for 19 years, I know deep in my heart and soul I'm ready to leave and move on. I finally realize that I love myself too much to keep allowing someone to verbally abuse me on a daily basis. I just want peace of mind for my well being as a person. I'm not the horrible names he calls me every single day. God will guide me from now on

Once I heard not to place too much in your feelings. Not sure if that is correct. However Brene Brown is so talking to me. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

For most of my life, I had believed that my worth and value was based on what others thought of me. I have finally learned to have faith in myself, and although I have always been single and have lived alone, I am no longer lonely and am happy to let go of all else, to trust myself and my own feelings.
This is a lovely talk. Thank you. Yes, going through the wilderness, the fears and tears that brought me here, has been my healing. Best wishes to all! 🙂

I love her SO MUCH! And this is what I needed to hear today as I've been bummed out about something my manager said to me yesterday. I felt underestimated and misunderstood, like she didn't see all my devotion to the work. But I'm not going to let it get to me. I also saw a video from Abraham Hicks before this one that said, just be who you are and change for nobody. Then when people try to get you to be someone different (so they can feel better), just step back and watch the show. In other words, allow them to have their opinion but don't engage with it. I love these two ladies so much. 🥰🙏

When I feel the wilderness it is hard and question why why why....but it's my time of reflection without all the noise of what others expect from me. To find myself again! To become safer as a human being,
I had to risk letting go
of my need to be safe...
And I had to access and process the buried hurt,
anger and fear, driving this need...
    To become more loving,
I had to give up holding on
    to the unreasonable need:
to be loving, all the time...
And I had to access and process the shame, hurt, fear and anger
    that were driving this need...
To access a deeper compassion than ever felt before,
I had to let go of trying to live up to the expectation
    of having to be compassionate...
    To become more vulnerable,
I had to bring into consciousness
    all the programming and commands
    that kept vulnerable emotions inaccessible...
To feel more connection with other human beings,
I had to challenge the command
that I have to be alone, to be safe, and to survive...
To feel more love, I needed to stop seeking safety
and I needed to risk allowing people: to come close...

I must echo your sentiments & particularly the "tone of your voice" comment.
The tone, diction, and cadence with which she speaks, for me, is so comforting, if not mesmerizing. It's so disarming and nonathoratative that it allows the content of her message to be received and processed in such a productive way. It comes across as unscripted and completely genuine; not as her 'teaching', but rather as 'sharing'.
Beautifully done and a wonderful transfer of her message.

Her synthetesation of Ms. Angelou's work changed my life. I'm sitting next to The Gifts of Imperfection right now. It's still one of my favorite Brene pieces of work and a very healing book. Highly recommend.

I try to live by the only reason you should be looking down on someone is when you're helping them up. You taught me that Brene and I must admit I do have a generous assumption of people however people have broken that over and over again with me and I find it hard to accept and have been treated like a doormat several times because of asserting myself and then having others gaslight me and push me to a point where I then have acted in a way that is not living up to my morals and values or in my integrity and then I have to find forgiveness for myself all over again. Do what is easy life will become hard, Do what is hard life will become easy. 'Read that again'

and some of us have been truly blessed to be coming from the wilderness. We resisted that pier pressure & urge to 'fit in & comply'. We listened to what was feeding our soul by being comfortably to sit alone and absorb nature's energy. To many we looked like the outsider as we stayed 'isolated' from conforming to what is their normal. When Covid hit and everyone panicked because they didn't know how to sit with themselves, we didn't miss a beat and embraced the qualities and lifestyles that are our normal. It is more than okay to be different, be independent from those that are sadly crippled to feel ralled into a corporate way to be accepted. We have battled it from the opposite direction and as you grow through the seasons of life, you enter the final one of being carried and cared for because you honored that time of being content by yourself ❤

First of all I want to let my family know that I love them. They make sure to let me know when I am getting lost. I trust them. They trusted me cooking in all my social discomfort conditions. I am socially awkward. With other conditions. If we can share, maybe nobody will ever regret that night. Shout out to my youngest brother. Love you kid.

Brené Brown leaves us speechless, in awe,
With wisdom that strikes like a thunderous draw.
Her words ignite fires, deep within the soul,
Leaving us inspired, with a newfound goal.
In her speech, echoes of courage ring clear,
    Dispelling doubts, banishing fear.
For in vulnerability, we find our might,
Brené Brown's speech, an illuminating light. 😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍

Belonging to oneself is indeed crucial for a healthy and fulfilling life. When we prioritize our self-worth over external validation and societal expectations, we can truly embrace our authentic selves and live a life that aligns with our values and goals. However, it is also important to acknowledge that humans are social creatures and need a sense of belonging and connection with others. Striking a balance between individuality and social connection is key. We can belong to ourselves while forming meaningful relationships and communities supporting and empowering us.

Wow! what an interesting subject got me lost in my thoughts; I never belong anywhere, or to a group of people but i always felt being part of something bigger, i feel safer alone (as survival sort of speech) but this never altered my love for humanity and my soul purpose of empowering others. Thank you for this.

Believe in your vision of what you want to accomplish in your life. Don;t let anyone bully you, you have a voice and continue to use it. The tools that you are learning either positive or negative will help you in your future to make the right choice for your life. Believe me you might feel that you are in the dark right now, but the light will be seen, Just have faith, and remember that this too shall pass.
