You did actually do everything other then sleep, and with that wind, something tells us you wouldn't have slept even if you had stayed the night! Nothing wrong in bailing when it isn't happening. Nothing wrong with bailing. I do it when needed. I bailed on my last trip. A series of bad things. I got really sick, then the person with me got sick, broke hit trekking pole then at night his hammock tore. Oh and we were in a huge electrical storm. Made for great stories. Not sure I learned any lessons though. lol.
