Let me tell you a story. I had a chance to ask question to my SVP once during a conference call. She didn't even know what issues people were having or even we had some issues. The only people she regularly talks to are managers and above who always paint good picture without sharing bad news. Their bonuses depend on it. Unless management really interacts with people they are always detached from reality.
I once had a manager who implemented "shadow shifts" where each person was able to shadow the different duties of the other people. It was so great. But I have only ever seen it once. If people would just sometimes shadow one another (in different areas of the job) businesses would be a lot better off.

Recognition is good but CASH IS KING! Show appreciation and recognition with pay boosts. A free meal is NOTHING we could feed ourselves with a RAISE!
An even balance of both, where deserved of course, is the best for any business. I've witnessed it first hand. People enjoy recognition of their hard work, and rightly so! It goes a long way.

The company I work for treats employees really good, free food days, raffles, sometimes 5 or 10 dollars off a purchase for the employees that are really good workers, employee appreciation party (the ceo of the company even comes to the party for each location the city that I live in is a bout a hour drive from where he lives and works), pto, medical dental and eye insurance, 401k with employer Match up to 10 percent, and even a chance for pay increases first one at 6 months, 2nd one at 1 year, then after that every year on your hire anniversary. I am super lucky, I have been employed for a year and have gotten 5 pay increases because of how hard I work, with one of them being a cost of living increase.

Tedious and repetitive actions are always unpleasant but some people would truely rather not work than do such a task while others will accept such tasks for money. Considering he’s the owner of the business it’s likely he’s a very creative person making him hate repetitive jobs but it enabled him to create the business. So the way undercover boss works is they give out an ahead of time warning to whatever location the boss is going undercover in that a new hired employee is on a "new hit reality show" where they're trying to learn the ropes of setting and building up their own business. Some employees in the show catch on that it might be Undercover Boss or even recognize the CEO with the disguise on.

Undercover boss just shows how disconnected the owner class is from the working class. I truthfully don't know how anyone takes this system seriously. How they feel as if pride resides inside such an existence, or one actually gains while attempting simplistic living. One isn't even mentioned. Its as if this system attempts to create an individual whilst encasing said individual inside of producing and consuming. For, absent one you can't survive, absent the other you aren't unique. Creating an environment where as all is the same as they simply compete.

The current alternatives cause mass death or drastically lowers the quality of life for everyone, often both at once. now its fair enough for you yourself to see no reason to partake in all this and your mostly free to do so. but by giving up on the system you lose the benefits it provides which in all fairness i believe you dont care about said benefits
