New Home BUDGET BLINDS - DIY or Go Professional?

  • I could have bought a small car for the number of windows I had to cover. This was the single most expensive item for our new house and I had no idea and didn't include it in the budget. With so many options out there these days and a lot of online stores, the question is why choose a professional when you can just do it yourself? I've ordered online and installed cellular blinds myself on our old house but for our new house, I explored different window coverings as well as some automation so after checking with many companies, I decided on one and went pro, was it worth it?

    Great review I'm glad you used a professional. I'm also glad that the end of three months you discovered it would be better to have motorization everywhere even though it's more expensive motorization brings more valued to the house with convenient energy efficiency and comfort.

    Congrats Brian, looks like a beautiful home! Brian if you could do a 6 month or even a 12 month update it would be great. However, really enjoyed this video. Cheers!

    Perfect timing! We just bought a townhouse and we are confused on what to do for window treatments!

    Oh yeah, blinds are no joke, they can get expensive quickly. 32 windows, that’s exactly what I think I have too. I have a friend that has the windows where the blinds are built-in in between the glass, that’s the best thing ever, if I build again that’s what I want.

      We have those on the French doors. That actually did come with the house.

    Your house is beautiful Brian! Are we going to get a home tour? What powers the motorized blinds? And what was the price for all the blinds?

      Battery powered. They have a USB input. You just plug in a long cable and it only needs to be charged once a year. Haven’t charged them yet

    This has video has opened an old wound ,my wife and I have been disagreeing about motorized blinds for years. She's just too cheap, 😁🤣 I also watch Julie Khuu so I have some idea of what I needed. Informative video, Thanks

      Unfortunately the ones we have everything is integrated including motor, battery, WI-FI module so it can’t be retrofitted for non motorized blinds. At the time it was $500 more per blind so not inexpensive at all. In hindsight I would have added maybe 3 more for blinds we regularly use. So nice to have them automated and worked into voice sequences.

    I'm in the market for some shades as well and I was shocked at the prices !!! Clearly I should buy stocks in a window shade company!

      Lol. No kidding. Seriously if you have lots of windows that are opened regularly or hard to reach, look into motorized.

    Even cheaper DIY plantation shutters for our 5 living room windows would cost $1,000. Probably more today as that was the pricing from 2019.

    Nice House and congrats! What sound system are you going to put in that living room?

    • @EverydayReviews2022
      @EverydayReviews2022  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Good question. It’s a very open and high ceiling so I don’t think anything is going to sound good.😩 Suggestions?

      @@EverydayReviews2022 If mounting on wall or want something slim, the Sonos arc is hard to beat, but expensive. The Bose 700 system is really good too.

    Do the zebra blinds have a setting that brings light into the house but privacy that people walking by can’t see in during daytime? Thanks

    How come living room top windows not covered like the lower ones?

    • @EverydayReviews2022
      @EverydayReviews2022  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      They’re north facing windows and a big tree that pretty well covers the view form the neighbors. No sun to block plus ran out of $$$. Would I like them covered as well, absolutely, maybe one day.

    Thanks so much for this video? What's the app that they use? I'm very interested in how reliable the app is. Does it directly connect to HomeKit? And how quiet are the motors?
