    She works 40 hours a week already & his grand gesture is to offer her a full time position with a $5000 raise. That's about $2.40 an hour. If she ends up working more than 40 hours it's even less. As for benefits - with the lousy wages he pays he SHOULD be providing benefits to his employees. He has nothing to be proud of here.

      The following is a GENUINE QUESTION, I am not just being snarky: When she was a part timer, was she working the extra hours as "overtime"? In America do you get paid a higher amount if you do overtime? (I live in the UK, and here employers do NOT have to pay a employee for working overtime - as long as the average pay does not fall below the national minimum wage.)

    • @Fluffykeith
      @Fluffykeith ปีที่แล้ว +1

      What I'd like to have seen is some indication of what the full time hours are like. She was working 6 days a week part time, which sounds like shifts, if that was set to full time would it be 5 days a week with normal store opening hours? That change could make a big difference to her work/life balance (in my own job Im currently training someone who used to work shifts at their old job, and now are so happy to be in a mon-fri 9-5 job that they have their weekends again). Additionally, he didn't touch on the wages for the full time job. Is this $5000 raise just on top of what she earns in the part time, 6 days a week...or is it a $5000 raise on the standard wage for the full time? There's a lot that needs unpacked.

    • @paulbradford8240
      @paulbradford8240 ปีที่แล้ว +2

Or at the very least give her a $10,000 raise, since she will only be taking home about $300 a month more after taxes are taken out, and guarantee her healthcare costs will be more than that if her kids are on it too . Idk maybe I'm being unappreciative but I feel like he was being as cheap as possible. Very disappointing. I see other undercover bosses do so much more.

    I've had numerous medical procedures for a seriously life threatening illness. My hospital stay and operation was more of a posh hotel suite, complete with a balcony with literally a million dollar view, (no kidding.) I've had several ER, doctors and specialist visits, PET SCANS, several Biopsies, and every medical attention and needs met, and all I've had to pay is AUD$380. In US dollars thats approximately US$270. Unbelievable that a single mum works six days a week, is a dedicated loyal employee, with a magnificent healthy productive work ethic, and until she was spotted for her worth, was uninsured. The US is only first world country for those that can afford it. Typical, 90% of the wealth is owned by only 10% of the population in the good old USA.

    • @SighNaps
      @SighNaps ปีที่แล้ว

      I agree with everything that you said. In order to provide context, I live in NY, USA. My sister was uninsured for a period of time due to her circumstances and I was helping to cover medical costs for my niece. A single visit to a pediatrician for bronchitis, the one time use of a nebulizer, and the necessary courses of steroids and antibiotics were USD $431.67. Years later, I had to pay for her ER visit after my sister thought she broke her arm. The ER visit, the X-ray, the costs for the radiologist and a "specialist fee" (my sister was insured at this time, but in the US a hospital may be covered by insurance and have staff that are not) was multiple thousands of dollars.

    Just watched the full episode on Peacock. He and this company should be ashamed at how they treat their employees!! And at the end giving them paltry $5000 each except for the last guy. If he got so teared up about Savannah and her three kids why didn't he give her a big chunk of change??? Big f***ing deal that he "restored the 401k"...should have been done a long time ago. They're a half a billion dollar company for God's sake!!! Cheap, cheap, cheap. 😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡

    Her reaction is so awkward. There is literally no benefit for her. 🤣 the 5000 towards her insurance will be a write off for the company. "Charitable donation" and they've got the video to prove it. 🤣🤣

    This is what's wrong with America. Most places like this pay crap wages, no benefits, 401k and 38 hours is considered part time. If you work 40? Then certain laws kick in for the employee. This company is pretty big. The goal is to pay labor the least amount possible to increase profit. The workers being able to pay their bills ect? Not the companies problems, it's not a charity. Everyone is expendable. That's the attitude.. But if some refuse to work at the wage offered? Then they are considered lazy. You have to rent from someone to live, pay to eat, car and insurance,, I-Phone, internet on and on. ....The answer is always to live with less. What a future for our generations. Basically work your butt off while young and be thankful if you get any wage at all. Then when older and worn out? Thrown to the curb.

    The 401k is the worst thing he did for her. Half of it belongs to the government then theirs a percentage the company gets. What's left is nothing for the person. He should've given her stock in the company instead.

    Yes, it's not impressive that Kendall-Jackson used 38 hour week week to keep her part time, or that they didn't have the 401K, but thanks to this, all employees will have the 401K again, and this employee will be full-time etc. So, it is good. I think that although U.B. is used for essentially marketing purposes, it also does good, and not just for the singled-out employee.

    Many large billion $ companies do this! Work PT employees to just under 40 hrs. to save $. Sad. But, she did finally get exactly what she should have. He should have given her an additional 10k at minimum!

    she literally could’ve opened a Roth IRA if they didn’t offer a 401k or could’ve opened a normal brokerage account and then done that instead

    I am amazed at how these ceos are still thinking the 401 (k) is actually a good investment...the 401K is a joke, a scam, and all of you who have them are going to have a very big wake up call when that 401K is gone...and it will be gone. Wait for the crash put you money away where is earns you good interests, and when the crash comes (and it is coming) then the smart money will be looking for the really killer deals.
