2 pieces of advice I can give are:
-Don't feel rushed cause of the timer, going slower and playing cautiously while learning a strike is a great way to see what types of enemies spawn where and when they spawn.
-Find a "home base". Most areas in strikes have some sort of safe area that you and your team can call home and poke at enemies. This is a great place to assess the battlefield and plan an attack and if someone runs up on you, it gives you some time to prep so you don't panic.

Acquire options in the sandbox. What makes a GM easier for some versus others (experience aside) is having more options to work with. Get weapons for each element with good rolls. It might not be the meta weapon, but it might be the right weapon for a given GM if the surge and champion mods work out that way. Once you do that, you can run that favorite weapon of yours and use your options to fill out the difference.
    Example from this year alone:
Osmiomancy Warlock deals with Unstoppable/Overload by default. So you can run literally anything you want for those activities. If you need barrier, throw on a sidearm, an intrinsic anti barrier, or just run the radiant mod.
This is what I mean by options.

Love the video. I think commentary over GMs would help out new players see the lessons put in practice. I have noticed some of my less experienced friends get overwhelmed by the shear amount of things happening at once. I think that is part of what makes it so difficult for some players to learn spawns as they spend most of their time trying to desperately stay alive. It would also serve as a place for busy players to learn spawns and correct target priority without spending time on the game if they don't have that time.

Love hearing this stuff from you Datto. I have what you might call medium light experience with GMs, I have conqueror, but rarely get more than a handful of clears on more than 2-3 GMs per season. I can walk through the easy ones with zero effort, and the harder ones are doable if there’s a decent way to execute on them.
Would love to see some commentary on some of the “hard” (TM) GMs chatting through weapon choices pros/cons and dealing with some of the higher difficulty encounters. Maybe some Sportscaster Datto coverage of successful and failed encounters? I don’t think having a full end to end run of most GMs is super necessary considering that most GMs contain encounters that are fairly obvious as well as one that are much more deadly, maybe focusing on those deadly encounters keeps the whole video super engaging rather than loosing people on the “oh I know how to do this part” sections.
Love your stuff, best of luck!

One major tip I can give that I see a lot of players not do (As long as your team isn't using rockets behind you) is strafe!!! A lot of Pve enemies actually really struggle to hit you if you strafe it won't make you invincible but it will help reduce the incoming damage you receive.

Another thing to bring up for Strand suspend titan, as I just finished running through the GM list just to get the conqueror pip, is the new exotic Wishkeeper bow. With you already suspending everything in sight, you can just get large amounts of bonus damage on everything, while also making up for the suspend nerf by tossing traps along the ground and having a great time with it. It's no 'literally a special weapon' like quicksilver, but it at least plays to the strengths really well and feels quite nice.
Also the only parts about battle ground GM's I hate are the Savathun projections, want to talk about needlessly tanky bullet sponges that insta kill you? Those witches are the things to focus on. Literally 3 people throwing spears and you each have to do 2 near full spears before they finally go down for no reason other than to randomly make you die from getting to bored to pay attention to their obscene AOE blasts. They could get that bar cut in half and I would not be mad.
Rest of the experiences are pretty fun though.

Thanks for the video Datto. You kinda went fast over this part, but honestly I think the "no double primary" part of the video is one of the most important things. So many people I come across still use two primary weapons and a heavy, even in higher difficulty content. I don't understand the thought process, especially since primary ammo has been infinite for so long now. Get a good primary, get a waveframe GL or fusion rifle, and a non-sword heavy weapon and go to town. There's no need to waste a weapon slot on a second primary weapon that you'll swap to after your first one runs out of ammo.

Two things I like to emphasize to people: trust on your team mates when they make a call, and when 2 people go down, I will usually call for whoever is left (depending on which super) to just use his super. Most roaming supers have massive damage resistances and even if you dont kill a thing, it can allow you to reposition or get a res in a difficult position, just in general get some breathing room .

This video is golden even for someone who is experienced running gms. Still see a lot of people with clears that are fully content with double primary.
From my experience, you will survive more if you play boots on ground or close to. Use your lift or glide for momentum to transition cover. High ground is also good but don’t underestimate the enemies pushing you and surrounding you. In psiops cosmodrome when the brig spawns, you can go up on the shack to its right, your left about 10 o clock looking at the brig from the payload. It’s decent cover, however if you stay up there, stuff will spawn and sometimes they’ll jump up from your right or from behind you. Vandals from the skiff also can and will surround you, leaving you in a crappy position for your team to res you.
Being hyper aware of the angles enemies have on you is vital as well. USE YOUR EMOTES. This isn’t trials, you’ll actually go in 3rd person. If you don’t know what’s around a corner and you’re playing it safe, do a little hootenanny and 3 peek whatever’s over there. If blackout is on, you need to abuse this if you’re inexperienced.

They're both builds built around benevolence looping to keep allies alive
Also something incredibly cool about Pheonix Cradle is that you can use your super to throw healing hammers at people, turning it into an amazing super for support, Occasionally when clearing while in super I can chuck a hammer at a friendo whose nameplate just had an exclamation point appear over their head when their shield pops and not have to worry if my healing grenade is up

@Datto Let me first say thank you for doing this video to address this subject. I have to confess that the mentioned attitude used to be mine until I decided to ask myself how I can get better rather than dismissing my inexperience and not putting in the work. That alone has helped me tremendously as of late with doing more end game and harder content. I'm happy that there are those out there that find the end game content "easy" for them. I'm not one of them, but I do realize there's got to be a logic, process or strategy to figure out to finally conquer it. I hate that some that are out there choose to be more uncompassionate towards those who aren't on their level of "GM's, dungeons, Master Lost Sectors, etc; are easy!" . I appreciate your patient willingness to help those of us who want to "get good", if you will rather than simply just saying it like many others. The difference between those who are "good" and the ones who are not lies in two things I think; knowledge and experience/practice. So, all that to say, thank you @Datto and yes, please make more videos for the rest of us non-mutants who weren't gifted with the "good" gene at gaming birth, so that we can work towards "getting good" as well while enjoying gaming! One tip I use for gms is playing your life. While a death doesn't set you back too badly, if you're careless and rushing through, you're gonna waste your revives more often than not. If you have to run to a safer position to deal with a situation, do it

the only legendary scouts or pulse rifles i would consider bringing into a gm are those that have perks that make you stun champions extremely fast or easily, like adaptive munitions and under-over for anti barrier.
for scouts these are: doom of chelchis, randy's throwing knife, staccato or pointed inquiry (pair it with genesis for free reloads or shoot to loot, this gun is heavily underappreciated imo).
for pulses: the main ones i will recommend are insidious or ogma pr6 as they both have a bit more going on than other pulse rifles with adaptive munitions or under-over (insidious has demo, dragonfly or rapid hit to pair with adaptive, while ogma features both disruption break for more kinetic damage AND turnabout for an overshield).

  • @Schalaster
    @Schalaster 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

Another advantage of exotic primaries is that they have a higher chance to create ammo on kill. On that note, using Heavy Ammo Finder and Heavy Ammo Scout can make you the MVP. Honorable mention: Special Finisher.
My basic tip for harder content: Read the modifiers.
Knowing which elemental threat and what debuff modifier (e.g. Attrition, Scorched Earth, etc.) is active can influence your loadout and playstyle. Same with overcharges and surges, using a matching weapon can make the enemies feel less spongy.
Since the removal of Match Game, using damage types matching the enemies' shields isn't as important anymore, but it can help. Some people even write up how many shield types and champions spawn in each GM.

Something I would add is consider your weapon rolls under a different set of priorities, namely if a perk requires a kill activation or not, you're going to get a lot more out of a perk like Frenzy or One For All in high level content since these perks don't have a kill requirement to get rolling compared to your standard Rampage or Kill Clip which will in turn help your weapons to not feel so weak since they should have a damage buff of some kind active most of the time.
Some examples of this to somewhat go against what Datto just said, one of my favorite weapons is Doom of Chelchis because it can roll with Explosive Payload + Frenzy (Or One For All if you prefer) which compensates for the usually low damage of Scouts since you're getting to double down on those neutral damage buffs.
And another weapon I like is Chattering Bone, even though again it's a Pulse Rifle (Which honestly I feel like are at least decent now with the amount of buffs they got.) it can roll Kill Clip + Kinetic Tremors as well as getting an extra 10% damage boost for being Kinetic (Which matters for consideration in high level content.), Kinetic Tremors acts as a neutral damage boost which then helps lead into getting Kill Clip rolling.
As a quick note this is also why I would still consider Fatebringer one of the best Handcannons in the game still because it's Kinetic, and also rolls Explosive Payload + Frenzy so you have a constant damage and reload buff active all the time without even needing a kill.

Great advice, I hate seeing people complain about good loot being locked away behind nightfalls and GM's. Even if you are a new player and get all the light subclass aspects and fragments fully unlocked and high to 100 resistance, you can do a GM. The most important things are positioning, pacing, and perseverance. Even if you don't have many exotic weapons, a legendary with explosive payload will be just as good as you will essentially have a permanent damage boost. Good luck to everyone!

Coming from someone who has duoed multiple gms and has a multiple time guilded conqueror seal: play gms like trials
It might seem odd at first, but peaking corners, ammo management playing engagements, talking with teamates, and bringing the right tools for the job are key
For builds: try to prioritize abilities or weapons that can do their special thing without necessarily needing a kill. Polaris lance, wishkeeper, wicked implement, quicksilver, wishender, lemonarque, etc
Make sure you have ways to regen health or get a shield. Play your life more than anything else. Perform more finishers than usual so you know something is dead

Well I was going to post that pheonix protocol is not nessasary as you see in the video at 2 minute mark you get your super back after the 50% mark extremely quickly anyways with team supers and killing, but as this is a new player guide I think its fine. Just reamember after you get used to gms to start experementing with other setups. Protocol is good but when you place a well correctly and chain supers with teamates you will likely get it back before it ends if you have enough things to kill without having to use the exotic protocol.

There are some exotics tho that are underrated. Strand mothkeeper+beyblades is fun and has everything covered. The blind explosions stun unstoppable and are good for ad control and the void overshield is good by itself. Plus, 6 moths are fun to watch. With that said, i totally agree with the choices made in the video. Maybe i would have added galanor for hunters, precious scars for titan and something like controverse hold for warlock wich is still good. Those are just additions if you want to shift a little bit from the meta, but i totally agree with the video

Good all round advice to beginners. As a top 50 Sherpa for GMs. My advice for beginners are:
1- focus on knowledge of the GM and the game over the loot. The loot will come for free in time. Spawns, champions and mechanics, good cover positions, knowing when to be aggressive and when not to be are examples.
2- a good player beats a good build. But a good strategy beats both.
3 - see opportunities rather than problems. E.g. A big wave if ads is not a danger, its an opportunity to make orbs, get super energy, get buffs, show off a trick/build etc... Last guardian standing- opportunity to practice survival, patience, turning the tide and really testing ur knowledge.
4- practice, practice, practice. Nothing will get you better than doing more GMs.

13:51 One thing to keep in mind is: while you must focus the adds to not get overwhelmed make sure to keep champions in check(mainly overloads and unstops), keep them stunned(not kill, only stun) as long as you can to buy time for you to kill the adds, sometimes your team is to focused on adds and unstops/overloads can easily kill your entire team because you were too focused on adds and let them free for far too long

I run a Quick Silver Storm or a Final Warning and swap between the two when I get board with the other. With a strand build and I get threadlngs for miles. The game almost plays itself if I get it right. The Final Warning will stop a champion’s shield from regenerating if you mash the fire button and once it’s stunned then hold the fire button and aim down sights for increased damage. It took me a bit to get things right about needs some practise and Divilian Mists I. The dreaming city is a great place to practice as you get waves of lots of monsters and you can pick up chests etc to get engrams while your practicing.
With my current strand build I can now solo legend lost sectors but I am still a noob at GMs but what I have done seems to work ok just my play style lets me down. So more practice for me.

It doesn't need to be a full play by play, but maybe an intro with what builds you and your teammates did and why, and then some highlights of the encounter. So not like a 30 minute video, but like 15?

I don't bother farming GMs like I used to. I'm a Conqueror x11. Have 384 GM clears apparently (just checked lol). But these days I just run them the once to get the completion for gilding my seal (maybe a couple times if I'm helping someone and enjoying it)
The rewards just aren't that enticing, most of the weapons aren't great and I'm already comfortable on golf balls etc. Last time I remember really going hard for weapons was the Double reward Hothead farm. That was a good time. Easiest GM (Inverted Spire) and 2x Adept Hotheads each time. Got many a god roll lol. Ahhh memories.

  • @TheDanielKemper
    @TheDanielKemper 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

I have gilded Conqueror 10 times at this point, and whether I'm with clanmates or blueberries with no mics, 2 things are always key to a GM. First- Cover is your friend. Any time I go into a new encounter or section of the arena, I always take a couple moments to look and see where all the structural spots are. There are ALWAYS more places to hide or put distance between you and the ads than you think, and this way if you're low health you're not panicking to find a place to recover. Second- always play your life. Get into the mindset that if you die, nobody is coming to res you. It will do wonders for your decision making about when and how to engage, and when to break off from a fight.
