For whatever reason I REALLY enjoyed the concept of finding ten magically hidden chests a week, with new positions for each phase of the Curse cycle (similarly, I'm also a fan of finding the Worm Chest worms in Garden of Esila, and I'll always recover the Badge of a downed Corsair), and would grab the chests every week on all three characters as a sort of time trial, usually kicked off by doing the Ascendant Challenge first, then running for the chests with whatever time remained on my 30 minute Ascendance buff.
I was very frustrated when Bungie scrapped the individual trackers on emblems when they implemented the Stat Trackers system, as the 'Secret Victories' emblem tracked ascendant chests opened, and I was shooting for 1,000 on it. I was somewhere around 850-875-ish (?) when I lost the ability to track via the emblem.
Dreaming City had so many collectables. Cats, secret timed events, a patrol that was just a VA reading Lore, plus the 3 week cycle of chests. Bungie and the other studios really swung for the fences with this location.
Definitely don't mind content like this, breaks the usual content mold

Datto was right in thinking there’s a chest where he first looked in the Divalian Mists, but he went to where the regional chest is located. The ascendant chest is floating in the sky away from that cliffside after you pop a tincture and do an “invisible” platforming puzzle.
If they don't end the Dreaming City curse after The Final Shape, I'm never going back to the city
Isint there a whole lore thing behind it not being lifted

there really are sooo many collectables, the two sets of cats, the eggs, the bones are just what i know of totaling 77 different collectables (not including the sycophant starcat cuz idk if the kitty is still bugged as i haven't found it yet) and thats just the dreaming city. Also im in pain seeing him get so close to the mists chest TwT
I'm getting hit with nostalgia for the dreaming city, to this day still the only title I've ever bothered getting because it wasn't just grinding content

I saw this quest and through this whole season. The same thing of I don't follow/remember what stages all theses things that place in anymore, and just remember the time of actually knowing theses and the acendent challenges week by week.

the funniest thing is that every area datto says there's something, he's correct, there's an ahamkara egg or a cat there, or a random activity chest (three arc balls), or a standard chest, or an ascendant challenge, and you can tell he remembers where they are because he describes it while he's there. He just doesn't remember what goes where and i don't blame him, i think it's impressive that he remembers that much from five years ago.
I tried to do this off the top of my head and I also went to that first chest thinking it was an ascendant chest lol
It's ironic, I watched datto's old guides to find the old chests because I couldn't remember myself. Seeing him struggle to find all the chests again was hilarious

dude the sheer amount of crazy location regional chests there were when dreaming city came out was insane i still remember it took so long to get some of them as i had a skill issue with jumping puzzles hahaha reading his chat is halarious btw lol

The thing that did my head in was the different curse levels. I reckon I would've had a chance otherwise. I went pretty much the same route as Datto did from the off and upon realising the locations change weekly, I threw in the towel and looked up a guide.
This was so fun to watch. I give Datto credit because I looked for maybe 5 minutes and was like, “My brain is not good enough to remember chests from 5 years ago and not get them confused with region chests and other collectibles.”

I followed no guide as well, 1 in each lost sector, some in the out of players locations and last one was the entrance of blind well.
