Anita, if people can't find a way to eat them by now, they probably never will. You have done yomens work on sardines. Thank you for your dedication concerning the little fishies and everything else!
Hello, im from Uruguay, i dont speak english very well. I actually do Sardine Fast for de 4 week and i think sure, i do it for rest of my life !!! I love this !!! Im carnivore, then this fit me.
I found this just in time! Getting ready to do a Sardine Challenge starting Monday morning. I joined Dr. Lisa's, (CarnivoreDoctor) Summer weight loss challenge. Starts off with a BANG! of a 3 day fasting challenge.
I just jumped into the sardines - I hated them at first, so I ate 3 cans only on the first day. Then 3 the next day, by the 3rd day I liked them, they grew on me
Anita, I didn’t even get into video yet, but have to write in to say YOU LOOK AMAZING!!!! I see even more fat loss. You are on fire!! Congratulations!!! Now back to the video!
Try deviled sardine eggs with Primal Chipotle Avocado mayonnaise. Also sardines drained with the chipotle Mayo and dill pickle chopped up and a little sliced cucumber sliced for dipping.
You are a very strong 💪 brave woman! I don't want to, I don't want the organ meat either...I'm starting BBBE Saturday morning. I've learned so much from you and your vlogs. Thank you for sharing!
Who has time to troll a video presentation that doesn’t pertain to them? To those: get a life! 🤯 Excellent content! Thank you for taking your time to spread these good tips!
"I'm not the sardine police" 🤣 Good one. Too funny. Love your content. Thanks for the ideas. I did do a sardine fast and really enjoyed it. And yes, the bisque soup is delicious
My relationship to sardines changed when someone advised me to stop buying the cheapest ones and buy those packed in olive oil! Interestingly, these are not sold in major grocery stores but small delicatessens. And they usually come from Portugal and Spain. Anita, I have also lived in Vancouver and I would suggest walking down Commerical Ave. and checking out the small Italian stores there! This will definitely increase your variety!
I'm able to buy the King Oscar sardines in olive oil here in MO in all the major grocery stores. I can get wild caught ones in those same stores, as well as the water packed ones. I get mackerel in the major grocery stores, too. BUT--there are no delicatessens here, either, so maybe that's why. I'd have to drive to either St. Louis or Springfield, and they're such terribly high crime cities, I'm not about to go there!
If want to be mean to Anita please go someplace else !!!! Love this video I am still trying to find a sardine I "love"....lol. Thank you for all the tips and recipes.
I love this! I never ate a sardine before I saw your last vid on them. Bought several different brands and I like the ones I've tried. Tastes sort of like tuna to me. My next experiment will be with your bacon wrapped ones you fried today. Looks yummy! Thank you! 🙂
I like watching you. I admire anyone who can eat sardines. My Dad loved them and would eat them on a soda cracker. I don't know why I have such an adversion to them. I may consider the pate......someday. 😂 Also I use Aldi's Dijon mustard and there are no sugars or carbs in it.
I'm 70, and I had sardines for the first time just two weeks ago. I quickly found that I have to go with the boneless, skinless ones because of my aversion to eating skin, and the tails are a total ick factor for me (won't eat chicken skin, either, not ever, not even KFC (and I'm keto, so never eat KFC now)). I had a can of mackerel today for the first time, and I was amazed at how delicious they are! If sardines are that good, then I'll be an aficionado! I've only the first two cans of 'dines buried in a huge green salad, so didn't see them, nor was I aware of their taste. I do know the salad was more filling with them in it, and there wasn't any kind of bad taste, so I'll be trying them with a little apple cider vinegar as Anita does. I'm also going to get "brave" and try herring. I've watched and heard information stating that they're excellent for the health, are delicious, and come in small cans as sardines and mackerel does, so I'll try just one can initially.
I just checked my dijon mustard and as I thought and you stated there is no sugar in dijon mustard. I am planning on a Costco trip, maybe I will break down and try some. I love smelt but they were usually fried or sautéed and topped on this crusty bread drizzled in olive oil!❤
I made Dr. Weideman’s soup recipe twice last week. I was quite surprised at how tasty and rich it is…definitely a keeper…thanks for sharing these great recipes today😊
I just put bacon wrapped sardines in the oven just like bacon wrapped jalapeño poppers. Less mess and easier. And no toothpicks needed. Lol. Almost forgot. I use super thin bacon, it cooks and crisps up fast.
Well, I've just started eating sardines, 3x's last week and this week, I've had them twice...at the end of last week I had decided to eat 3 cans a week...I've tried 4 different kinds and for sure the best one, by far, is King Oscar Wild Caught in EVOO w/jalapeño ...so I think I'm good with the 3 times a week, don't want to push it and not ever eat them again!!! 😅😊 Thanks again for your video recipes on sardines!!!! O, I follow Mary's Nest too!!! She's such a delight!!!!
Thanks for the different recipes. I grew up eating sardines as my mother loved them with saltines. I love them with just hot sauce but I have been making a sardine salad recently. The thing about adding the ACV would add another level to my salad. I saw the sardine bisque in a video, just haven't made it yet.
Hello!!! On end of day 2 thinking, “how in the world can I eat these lil nasties AGAIN for dinner and all day tomorrow tomorrow???” Pate?? Who woulda thunk. So GOOD! Thank you very much. Thinking I can actually do this longer than 72 hours now. Did a little variation; -1 Wild planet (drained) -1/2T ACV -1T butter -1/2t dijon -2tsp wagu tallow -few drops liquid smoke -dash franks hot sauce -salt & white pepper Maybe 10 small capers - (less than tsp). Smashed the crap outta it. No chunks. Will try tomorrow no capers. HAPPY HAPPY HAPPY! Mahalo again! Oh, and yes, I too would feel proud bringing this to a party. Give them their carb crackers and I keep carnivore ones in my bag. Make it part of a charcuterie board. Things I can eat on it. I am so new only 24 days in. Still lots to learn.
So many ideas! I too enjoy Mary’s Nest! I also make a salad which is a basic salad using a handful of endive, a little minced onions a can of sardines in oil and a little vinaigrette to taste! Makes a tasty way to get those sardines in!
Yes. She too is a really sweet and kind lady. What you both do that I find really helpful, is that you explain why you do what you do. That saves me from a few mistakes now and then 😇
Thank you Anita! You are so kind and I appreciate all you do. I like sardines out of the can but I'm looking forward to trying these recipes. Can't wait for part 2!
Love this and was eating a can of sardines for dinner! I added nutritional yeast, season salt and garlic to brisling sardines in olive oil and enjoyed it thoroughly. I appreciate these recipes because it reminded me I have three opened but Barely Used jars of capers in my refrigerator that I need to use and always forget. So I just ate a tablespoon with my sardines and it's a great compliment with lots of good health properties to I might add. I love your channel! Thank you for all you do
I just started the sardine fast yesterday! We had gone to Quebec for a few days and i was a little bit bad because it was my birthday trip...so i figured lets do the sardine fast. Never had one before. Tastes like tuna to me. Day 2 almost done and im getting a tad bored but will carry on
Mary from marys nest is my favorite channel. Shes taught me amazing things over the years. Sourdough bread, fermented foods, prepping pantry...shes a wealth of information ❤
I love the idea of omega Monday. Started eating sardines and other canned fish. I’m learning to like them. Trying out different brands to see which I like more. There is a difference between companies.
These look so great Anita. I love sardines. I wonder how Chris Cooking Nashville spreadable butter mayo that you made would be in the mixtures. It's also really good on your air fried sardine balls. Keep up your great work.👍
Anita… I haven’t been able to watch your videos for several months and I am blown away how AMAZING you look and sound SO happy!! It’s so great to see your videos again!! Thank you for continuing to share your journey and recipes!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Can't wait to try. Always loved sardines and only eat brisling. Alwsys used Club des Millionaires which are costly but not as fishy as the cheaper big ones. (Ontario here)
Thank you so much for this. I was one who was totally grossed out at sight and smell. With the help of your other recipes.. I lived through them ;) can't wait to try and share these.
I took Dr Boz's challenge. I obeyed perfectly, but only lost 2 lbs and then gained those back. I really liked the sardines with Frank's hot sauce sprinkled liberally. I think I should eat more at one sitting, next time around. I'm excited to learn from you. Tidbits are appreciated.
Sardines are the best travel food. At home, i add a chopped pickle slice and two chopped olives to a can (or a tablespoon of muffaletta style olive salad). Yum
Dr. Boz said if we want to do the sardine challenge her way, we're only allowed some keto hot sauce -- that's it, for 72 hours, if we want the results and the ability to use it as a bridge to eventual water fasting. It just depends what one is trying to achieve. This just isn't the sardine challenge, but it really is a good way for one to get used to sardines before the sardine challenge because I'm just sick at the thought of starting the challenge. Plus, a lovely way to open our minds to all these lovely alternatives. Thank you so much. A woman after my own taste buds for sure. Your work is amazing.
Hi there! So proud of your weight loss! Just started watching you. I love your dish you eat your sardines out of. Keep up the good “weight loss” and healthy lifestyle. 👍🥰
Thank you for all you do! I tried sardines for the first time last night. I eat non starchy veggies cooked in the air fryer and then fried two cans of sardines in melted ghee. They were small so they fell apart a bit but they got crispy. I squeezed quite a bit of lemon juice on them and ate them mixed with the air fried veggies. They were not bad. I like tuna and salmon so I think I can get used to eating them on a regular basis but I doubt that I will ever do an actual challenge with them.
Anita, God bless I just can't eat them the taste almost makes me sick. I know Sardines are an incredible superfood I have tried to eat them and my husband loves them and eats a can a day.
Amazing video! Great simple recipes and all three made me want them even though I’m still not sure I can do 72 hours of sardines. 1st- I see more and more HATEFUL comments on TH-cam and other sites I follow. I’m sad that so many people feel they have to share their misery! Next I love Mary’s Nest too. She is a wealth of great info. 3rd I was screaming 🤣😂🤣🤣 air fry them for the bacon wrapped sardines! And then you heard me!!😂🤣😂 And you are spot on about trying different brands 1st before buying larger amounts. I bought a certain brand because it was a favorite of a doctor I follow. Not my favorite at all. But that just means I have a different palette and different taste buds.
small diced shallot and sweat until translucent in a saucepan or frying pan, then add a tin of sardines plain or in tomato sauce - all in pan, mush down with the already sweated onion - then add greek yogurt guage the amount according to how you like it, mix all together and season to choice… add to pasta (if allowed).
Anita, you are amazing! My first sardine fast and only starting fast. I only made it a day and a half, I just couldn’t eat that much without feeling sick, but watching you here has given me hope that I could not eat them just plain so I will definitely be trying several of your recipes. Thank you thank you from the bottom of my heart.♥️
I tried these today and they came out delicious.😋 I only had thick bacon so I was a little worried, plus I didn't fry them but made them in the air fryer. Awesome 🐟Next dish, the salad. Thank you
Anita, i always had issues with garlic especially raw, until I work for a woman who taught me if you remove the heart from the garlic you will not have digestive issues, if that's what you suffer from, try it Btw, you are looking fabulous! All the things you are trying seem to be working!!
I had already come up with the idea of adding capers & lemon juice to the sardines which made them delectable when I couldn't stand them before so the pate sounds great.
To easily find out if oil is hot enough, wet fingers slightly with water and flick at the oil. If it sizzles it's ready! Thank you Anita for the video, i am warming up to the idea of a sardine fast 😅
Day 1 and I'm surprised I really like sardines. No trouble for day 1, and I hope that continues! Right out of the can is great for me, but I like that there are other options if I get bored
Love this, you are so helpful!!! People who make mean comments need to concentrate on helping others and making the world a better kinder place with a hobby of spreading joy!!! Thanks again, you are a joy to watch!
I love the Tiny Tots brisling sardines in olive oil. However, they are $5.99 at my local Safeway in Northern California and at Foods etc. in the same town sell for $3.99 a can! Thank you so very much Anita! 💗
I think I would want to have it even chunkier, but that would require mixing all the other items and mashing first so the capers are more incorporated.
Thank you Anita you are awesome as always keep up the grate job love it ,I just finished my 72 h today feeling grate ,yes I am going to do it twice monthly thank you ❤
I just finished a 96 hr + sardines fast wild planet 😘 the best My favorite sardine respite is sardines with red onion chopped and fresh key lime salt. omg enjoy ps, for my 96 HR+ fast sardine only with salt Arizona 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
I love that Trader Joe's bag, Anita. What a great find! Thanks so much for the additional prep tips/recipes. DH and I are on our second round of the sardine challenge (the first round was a couple of months back), so your video is very timely. Variety is good. I've not seen faces inside a can of sardines yet either. I did see little faces in a can of sprats once, though, but that was a while ago. We have Millionaires brand brisling sardines in ON, and they're a bit more pricey than the Brunswick regular sardines, but they're tasty. Are they available in BC?
Thank you for all this info. I am seriously considering doing this challenge because of You and Dr. Boz. Great video. I would like to share a tip. You mentioned getting oil on your clothing. It has happened to me. The best way I have found to get oil out of clothing is to pre-treat the spots with undiluted Dawn dish soap. let it sit for at least one hour. I have even been able to remove oil stains that I didn't notice until after they have been through the dryer. Good luck.
Who in their right mind could leave a hateful comment to Anita? She is the sweetest most unselfish TH-cam content creator ever!
Exactly! I literally thought the same thing and saw your comment 😁. She is simply a delight!
RIGHT??? I want names because I would like to speak with those...idiots.
I came here to say that!!! GEEZ, she's the best!! People are such jerks.
It’s a litmus test, anyone who dislikes or says hateful things to/about Anita, simply reveals their character issues & inner 😈 troll.
awww, thank you! It seems to be a thing lately on other channels too.

Never thought I would enjoy sardines. I actually crave them some days. I make sardine cakes with pork rinds a lot and eat them with yellow mustard. 😋
First time I tried sardines, I did a double take, because I thought it was mackerel (which I like). I really enjoyed them.
Solid sardine offerings at COSTCO
Such great recipes, Anita. Thanks for all the ideas. Today I started a 3 day Sardine Fast. I’m believing that I’ll have good results.
I only had Julia Child growing up and her ingredients were too fancy and not available in my area,so grateful I found your channel.
Hope you enjoy!
Anita, you can pull and stretch a piece of bacon and weap it around the food. Its a quick tip and the bacon will not break.
Hello!!! On end of day 2 thinking, “how in the world can I eat these lil nasties AGAIN for dinner and all day tomorrow tomorrow???”
Pate?? Who woulda thunk. So GOOD! Thank you very much. Thinking I can actually do this longer than 72 hours now. Did a little variation;
-1 Wild planet (drained)
-1/2T ACV
-1T butter
-1/2t dijon
-2tsp wagu tallow
-few drops liquid smoke
-dash franks hot sauce
-salt & white pepper
Maybe 10 small capers - (less than tsp).

And then you heard me!!😂🤣😂
And you are spot on about trying different brands 1st before buying larger amounts. I bought a certain brand because it was a favorite of a doctor I follow. Not my favorite at all. But that just means I have a different palette and different taste buds.
haha, yeah I heard you! 😂 They were good but that was a bit of a hot mess!
I’m watching again for this June 2024 Sardine Fast. “I fished them out” 😂 That was a good line Anita.
LOL
Love your recipes Mz. Anita, your the best…🧡
Thank you so much!
small diced shallot and sweat until translucent in a saucepan or frying pan, then add a tin of sardines plain or in tomato sauce - all in pan, mush down with the already sweated onion - then add greek yogurt guage the amount according to how you like it, mix all together and season to choice… add to pasta (if allowed).
You are SO welcome!
I tried these today and they came out delicious.😋 I only had thick bacon so I was a little worried, plus I didn't fry them but made them in the air fryer. Awesome 🐟Next dish, the salad. Thank you
I wanted to try them in the air fryer, it worked well?
Anita, i always had issues with garlic especially raw, until I work for a woman who taught me if you remove the heart from the garlic you will not have digestive issues, if that's what you suffer from, try it Btw, you are looking fabulous! All the things you are trying seem to be working!!
Thank you, great tip!
Omg just started my 72hrs sardine fast!
Delish
Good luck!
Thank you so much!
Lovely video Anita, quite inspiring for me to go on a Sardine Challenge,
Thanks Anita for such inspirational recipes. I’ll definitely try some of these. ❤
I love the Tiny Tots brisling sardines in olive oil. However, they are $5.99 at my local Safeway in Northern California and at Foods etc. in the same town sell for $3.99 a can! Thank you so very much Anita! 💗
Thanks for the recipes. Good job! I just bought two cans and still deciding how to eat them.
I think I would want to have it even chunkier, but that would require mixing all the other items and mashing first so the capers are more incorporated.
We love the King Oscar Brislings. We also enjoy Bar Harbor Smoked Kippers.
Thank you Anita you are awesome as always keep up the grate job love it ,I just finished my 72 h today feeling grate ,yes I am going to do it twice monthly thank you ❤

Arizona 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Fantastic!
oh the second one looks amazing!!!!!!
So very helpful to me,so much appreciated, thank you.
Yes, I have tried them here! Harder to find but I love the tiny little ones!
The Sardine balls were yummy!!!! Thank you Anita ❤️
Delicious Recipes Anita!
Inam definitely trying these ideas
Thanks so much.
Love your Recipes ❤
Love these, thank you! I tried your sardine bites last week in the air fryer and really liked them! Can’t wait to try more of these.
Good luck.
I'm going to have to try that! I have so many shirts I like but can't wear!
Me too, I have so many shirts that I keep trying to rewash to get oil spots out. I have to try this, thanks.
California Girl (brand) sardines in tomato sauce are among the best.
