This was awesome! I first tried the sardine fast after watching your first video on it, but I went over to Dr. BOZ and watched her video that leads us up to a 72 hour water fast by first doing beef & butter for 5 days, then just butter for 3, followed with the sardine fast for 72 hours. I was then ready for a 3 day water fast. After that I followed the whole thing by reversing the fasts and doing the sardine, then the butter, followed by beef & butter, then back to my normal eating a keto diet. I felt my very best on the days I ate only sardines, or just had water. Interesting experiment for me. Thank you for this video. I believe it will help a lot of people get in touch with their own bodies.

Some of this talk is because you’re giving information out there for us to use but I feel most of it’s because you got such a negative remarks and that’s just so sad. Wouldn’t it be nice if negative remarks just got bleeped off. Lol. You go girl!! I am one of those people that would not do the starting fast if it wasn’t for your part one video that gave me some ideas that still pretty much keto for sure and carnivore. So without you, Anita, it wouldn’t be happening for me, and now it is, you are an awesome person and an inspiration to me. ❤

You are so sweet to offer all of that detailed explanation about the sardine challenge. Your encouraging words about it the first time made me try them for the first time as well. Though I'm not over the moon about them yet but because of health benefits I will be adding them into the rotation. Your various recipes helped and also the recommendation about the brisling ones. Because of you and your videos I did the 3 day sardine challenge. I don't love them but I don't hate them either. People are such babies sometimes. It's food. It beats water fasting for 3 days. I like this as a reset from time to time. Even on carnivore you can get to a point where you eat too much dairy. So thanks, I'll be doing this challenge again for sure.

    • @KetogenicWoman

I can finally go later in the day to eat. I am doing ribeye and sardines and really I eat 8oz then give the rest away and drink a glass of hot tea. I checked my weight it is the same as measured In doctors office all same. I do feel slim and svelte. Going on trip so It a cabin with kitchen . My friends and I are doing it economically so sardines will be going.

  • @RV-there-Yet
    @RV-there-Yet ปีที่แล้ว +10

I have found sardines to be quite filling/satisfying, & can only eat two cans a day~ whether it be one can at lunch & one for dinner, or even two at the same time. That's it for the day, for me. When I've bought the water-packed variety, I usually add some melted butter or even bacon fat~ which also adds flavor along with the fat. I do this because I find them a bit dryer in texture than the ones in olive oil. Hope this helps someone, & I hope others feel as amazing as I do when I eat them! *Also, my glucose drops 10-20 points, & my ketones at least double~ if that interests anybody.

I have been eating sardines & doing several sardine fasts so my doctor tested me for mercury & heavy metals. I didn’t have any. Yay! I have grown to love these little fishes! My favorite is just to sauté them in butter especially at breakfast. It’s become a comfort food. Strangely, I’ve never eaten a sardine before this year. Thanks Anita for your recipes!!!!

It always amuses me how we as humans can take a very simple thing and make it complicated. I have not done the challenge but am working myself up to trying sardines again. I have never been a fan of fish in general even though my parents loved fishing and cooking their catch. At least I know I can filet a fish if I need to. Lol. Tuna, Salmon and Mackrel we had as a sandwich or fried patties and I don't mind those so maybe sardine patties..? Since Dad ate them on crackers maybe my 63 year old mind still thinks thats the only way to eat them. I may try the fried sometime 😊 Love your videos Anita!

I tried sardines for first time tonight, but I am crazy about seafood so I didn't think it would be an issue. I just dumped a can of boneless in olive oil on a plate and sat down to try it. My cat, a black kitten I rescued a few months ago, went nuts, lol. Jumped up on me, on my plate, tried to steal one. The dog, who she usually gets along with, rushed over to sniff and see what the big deal was about, she hissed at him (which she never does, they get along), then she snatched up a sardine and ran away with the tiny fish in her mouth. Had to put her in her cage so I could finish because she kept coming back. Other than meowing for her meals if I'm late, I have never seen her go nuts like that over food. She doesn't even like treats! She's gonna make it hard to prep for this challenge, let alone take the challenge! So funny.

I just watched Dr. Boz talk about sardines she’s got a couple videos, I can’t remember which one but she does that you would have to eat tons and tons of sardines before you even need to worry about it. And if you don’t feel comfortable with the plastic in the can then she put up a picture. She said you can buy them in a jar glass jar if this is helpful.

Thank you Anita for another great lesson. I recently finished a sardine "challenge" and had the best results yet (I have done 3 other challenges). I have struggled to get my blood glucose below 100 (always in the low 100s) but this morning it was 89 and ketones 2.1 (normally ketones are around 1). Anyway, it just reminded me that our bodies do what they're going to do when they're ready and not before. It seems like the critics are just trying to find a reason not to do the challenge. OK ... don't do the challenge!😊You are so gracious about the negative comments.❤

Amazing appetite suppressant. I’ve heard people on Ozempic describe this and I feel I got it with these little fishes. Cheaper too! Mine were olive oil and I drained put on butter or bacon lard. Fat= ketones. I stayed the same weight but I am already at my low base weight. Been Carnivore since Sean Baker challenged 60 days had lost on Keto like 50 lbs. Never got off except holidays keto.

Hey Anita, lol I am on those people who do not like sardines. Well, when I was younger once in a while, I could eat sardines and mustard. I tried Dr. Boz sardine fast and it was just too many plane sardines I made it for a day and a half I was choking, but I have since watched your part one and part two videos here of different ways to eat them and I gotta say I love you you have given me hope to try it again, and this time to be able to finish. I am so sorry people give you hateful remarks. Thank you for all the time spent watching other videos and giving us recipes and linking them. I wonder if one would have the same glucose and ketone results using only sardines in water. I literally just tried my first sardine ever, preparing them with indigo's protein powder and air frying them. Totally doable this way. Now to venture forward trying some of your recipes. You never disappoint!

I think the only thing I would suggest with that is to add the fat another way. Either add butter or your own oil, it's the fat that helps to get those ketones up there.

At the risk of getting busted by the keto police, I will admit to eating a can or 2 of anchovies during my sardine challenge. I love the flavor and saltiness of anchovies and since they’re a little fish, I thought they’d be an ok substitute when the thought of another can of sardines just turns my stomach. Now that I watched the Thomas DeLauer video you posted, I feel so much better about doing this! He rates anchovies as the top type of canned fish. Yes, I’m eating them in olive oil because that’s what I find but I’m still ok with that. Thanks Anita. As always, you totally rock❤

I am so happy to have you on my side! I absolutely love to watch your your videos for your positivity, experience and your kind heart. I am continuing my sardine challenge this month everyday when possible. About 2-3 cans in an morning, afternoon, 6 hour eating window. I do still have to clean up my coffee. Tough one for me! Somedays during the month I eat carnivore because of outings. I am challenging myself to hold on to good ketones and glucose. Today was the lowest glucose ever! Ketones, we will get there I am sure. I am going for a walk and that will help. My weight came down a little. Years of yo-yo diets. And unfortunately years of being sedentary because of a car accident. Thank you. I cant wait until you have a new video. ❤ 😊

Thanks, Anita, for your videos. I am looking forward to seeing you in your new kitchen. are you going to use red touches in your kitchen? You don’t have to answer me…just wondering…anyway I enjoy sardines and have always done so, I have a tin of sardines most days as a snack and if it’s in spring water I drink the fishy salty water as well. I am mostly carnivore now for 10 weeks and have lost about 10 kg. I am Getting near my my desired weight so I watch your videos to motivate me …thanks again :)

Very informative! I'm an experienced water faster, but lately I've been stuck at 36 hours, so I decided to do the sardine challenge to strengthen my fasting muscle a bit. Looking forward to starting tomorrow!

Just wanted to let you know that I really enjoy your videos. They are so helpful and informative and you have a way with words that I think many of us can relate to. I personally have done several sardine challenges at this point (along with my husband), and we have both seen and felt the benefits, so we'll continue to include sardines in our diet. I am apparently in the minority of people who happen to like sardines, so I think I'm lucky in that respect. I can imagine that someone who struggles with the taste of sardines may have a hard time getting through 72 hours, but as you said, even just adding a can to your diet from time to time is beneficial. By the way, I just wanted to comment on how healthy your hair is looking these days. Due in part to Omega 3s, maybe? ;-)

I used cans marckerel with your recepts. That tasted very good. One can marckerel is also enough for one meal. And it also raised my ketones.

Hi! I'm in Québec, Canada. I tried a sardine challenge, but it ends with an eggs/sardines one!!. Eating just sardines is hard for me, but i will try a sardines only as soon as I feel like. Out of there, i'm carnivore since 2 or 3 months. Not to lose weight, but feel more energetic. (Hope my english is not too bad...)
