I love sardines! I like trying new foods. I don’t understand why some people won’t eat anything that doesn’t come in a Kraft box. She has such a pleasant voice. I could listen to her all day.
Probably because the smell is overwhelmingly bad for some, not me, can't smell at all, but i'll hear complaints about it which is how i know it can smell atrocious, lol.
I was raised eating sardines. My mother would buy the Mediterranean ones and serve it to me in the can with some white rice and diced onions or sometimes a fried egg. It was one of my favorite meals.
I used King Oscar sardines in olive oil, 2 tbsp of sweet onion, 4tbsp fresh chopped parsley, lemon, and regular mustard, with 1/8 salt. My four year old boy loved this dip on Wasa multigrain crispbread. My six year old boy ate it with Murray's Italian mix Olives from Kroger Deli. And the few bites I got to eat, I ate with sauted radish leaves. Next time I will make a double batch! I can't believe my picky four year old who normally lives off sugar puffs said he would even eat sardines for BREAKFAST! It also helps that Daddy was working out and told Bennie that it would make him grow muscles. Lol Thank you for this video! We are hooked on canned sardines now!
Many years ago I worked at a restaurant that had something similar as a starter with the addition of chopped hard boiled eggs, chopped pimento stuffed olives and finely diced apple , it was delicious ! I had forgotten about it until I saw your video, thank you for the reminder !!
Thanks...I am about to have my salad with lettuce, kippered sardines, avocado and olives. I add some pickled beet slices. I may try the diced apples. Why not?
Thanks! I just want to tell you how grateful I am to have found you! You have taught me so much. You have shared such incredible information. I was able to purchase your first cookbook last year at Barnes and Noble-it was their last copy in the store!! For others like me whose mothers were NOT cooks (never mind good cooks) I am so thankful for your educating us and kind manner in general. Now, a Huge "Thank You!!!" from my family who has benefitted from your knowledge as well. BLESSINGS TO YOU AND YOUR FAMILY!!❤🎉
I will try this for sure! I love sardines! I sauté red pepper, onions and garlic and fresh herbs and lemon and add a can of sardines. Then I add this to some angel hair pasta topped off with some parmesan cheese.. I always look forward to this!
I grew up eating anchovies, kippers, pickled herring and sardines. In college a friend introduced me to sardines in mustard sauce. He put it on a toasted bagel with a slice of raw onion and a slice of swiss cheese on top. Then he put it in the toaster oven to melt the cheese. It was delicious!
I love your recipe and can't wait to try it, coming from such a sardines connoisseur. My go-to Sardines quick lunch is a can of sardines in oil with diced shallots, a little squeeze of lemon juice and maybe some dried wild oregano - on toast or flat bread. Simplicity itself and still allowing the aromas of the seas to come through. :-) Quality canned sardines with shiny skin and solid yet delicate flesh, it's just amazing the unique sweet umami flavour they possess. It's one of those ancient foods of the world from antiquity till today.

Its so good to see this recipe. Sardines are the only protein a lot of people can afford. I feel blessed to be able to appreciate their taste and texture. Love your channel and your personality. Ty, for being there and encouraging us.
My great great grandpa came from the Netherlands and he grew up on Sardines with macaroni noodles and sour cream and a sprinkle of salt. He then passed it down to my great grandpa who passed it down to my grandpa who passed it down to my mom who then passed it on to me. It’s definitely a quick easy and comforting meal ❤️ I’m definitely trying your recipe!
When I lived in Alaska sardines were my go-to lunch when all day berry picking. Sesame Wasa crackers, cream cheese, fresh basil, tomato slices and sardines. SO good and so sustaining. I always worried a bear would come and ask for one.
I love sardines. Usually eat them right out of the tin. Plus, it's the only thing my husband WON'T eat (and olives) that I can have all to myself. I've GOT to try this. Thanks, Mary, for yet another great recipe. Be blessed and stay safe.
Mary, where have you been all my life? I’m in LOVE with your content. And so grateful! Thank you! I’ve been on TH-cam for ages and subbed to plenty but you’re officially the first person I’ve ever hit the notification bell for.

Love sardines, when Aldi first opened here they had sardines for about 49c a can, hubby stocked up on so many that we won't have to purchase any for the next 12 months. Love that man :-)
yes grab them all so no one else can get them like toilet paper rush last year. and feel proud about it too. such greed and avarice is the recipe for diabetes and other autoimmune diseases.
Your hubby sounds like my self I would of bought a hundred dollars worth of them I'm the only one that will eat them I love them in mustard and hot sauce. God bless you and all of your family amen
Hi Mary! I've been a sardine nut since my grandfather, and I shared them when I was a small boy. I am in my fifties now and still eat them a couple of times a week. I can't wait to try your recipe. Thanks!
My dad just loved sardines … Mom sent him to the backyard picnic table before he opened them! I’ve bought sardines, and I’m all set to try them! First, I’ll need flat leaf parsley and a zester for the lemon, something I have intended to purchase for a while! I also LOVE red onion, or any kind of onion, really! 😊 Thank you, Mary! You are a sweet friend! 😊
Mary we Polish people make a salad with sardines onions and diced pickles it's delicious. you can even add a teaspoon of horseradish :) And Mary Please be careful, read the ingredients, some sardines and sprats are made with GMO cottonseed oil.
Would you kindly post your recipe? My best girlfriend was polish and I just loved everything her Mama made for dinner. I really would like to try out your recipe it sounds yummy 😋
Grazia J. This sounds fantastic! I am going to try it to put that together. I love horseradish and I am always looking for things to put it on! Please post the recipe if you get the chance.❤️
Thanks Mary, I must say that you are such a sweet lady! You always seem so happy and I simply enjoy watching your videos. Keep up the great work. God bless...❤
Hi Mrs. Mary. I switched to a weston a price diet a couple of years ago and so happy I found your channel. Sardines are an available nutrient dense food here in Cairo, Egypt and I really would like to get to love them. This recipe w that red onion looks good. I am not a fish person. I was watching your yogurt video and almost fell off my chair when u said u live in texas! (I saw the heb products). I was born and raised in San Antonio and just moved out here 3 years ago when I married. I miss texas soooo much. Any way I love watching your videos so much, u r the sweetest and I appreciate all the info u give because I didn't grow up eating most of these foods. May God bless you!
When I was growing up, my mother made tuna this way. I didn't have it with mayonnaise till I got to college! We used far less parsley and we made sandwiches either on Italian bread or on toast. It was so refreshing in the summer and so satisfying with a mug of soup in winter. Of course I have to make some soon
I absolutely love SARDINES, and having many health issues it’s one of my dietician’s recommended foods that we have no difficulty agreeing upon. I eat them, mostly in wraps, sandwiches, or added into stir fries, at least three times per week. Thank you Mary, and may I send you my very best wishes from Northern Ireland ☘️🙏🏻
I’ve always eaten sardines just with chopped onion - thanks for the idea of adding lemon, herbs and thank you commentators for suggesting other additions🙂💐
You're just so adorable. I HAD to subscribe!!! haha I love the joy and smile on your face as you teach. It shows you love what you do. Thanks for sharing your time and gift with the world. Blessings!
I was born in France. We ate fresh sardines at least twice a week with bread and butter. I loved them; so much better than canned. I do like the canned ones, directly from the can as a snack.
Thank you Mary! I'm looking forward to making this and adding these nutrient dense Sardines to my diet. I grew up loving smoked Oysters that my mom would give me on a cracker with Swiss cheese, so I bet I'll "grow" to like this on a cracker, too! God Bless!
@@MarysNest i was glad you mentioned putting it on a salad. I cant do crackers. But all those tastes sound like they would be awesome on a salad and you wouldnt even need dressing. Definitely going to be trying this
My dad always ate them right out of the can, with some saltines on the side. I would eat them with him, but as an adult, I can't eat them like that anymore. This sounds wonderful, and I do also love onion. Since I have many times been prescribed vit D, I have tried to eat more foods with it, but haven't done a good job of it. (I do go out in the sun more with less sunscreen, people will tell you I am the tannest I have ever been. I am still really pale naturally, but the contrast between now and 5 years ago is noticeable, so I AM trying to get more vit D!)

Love your recipe. I'm from UK and have eaten sardines all my life. Delicious! Especially whole Cornish ones simply grilled stuffed w/ lemon and parsley. Tinned are also a favourite, on hot buttered sourdough toast. OMG! New Subscriber. Greetings from Liverpool.

I have been cooking for many years, Love this site for all of the tips and suggestions both of today and yester years also substitution's for items you may not have in your kitchen pantry
My mother was the fount of all knowledge and I see some of the ideas she was espousing over fifty years ago are appearing as 'new' discoveries. When I was pregnant with my daughter my mother told me to eat plenty of fish because, she said, 'It is brain food for the baby'. So I took her advice and, sure enough, my girl has been as bright as a button and a very high achiever throughout her life. Yes, Mica, our girls owe it all to the fish!
We love sardines. Mary. My wife has introduced me to a few unique sardine recipes too, from her Filipino upbringing. Love hearing information on them from you. God bless, Rob
I am 76 and my goal is to learn to eat sardines, so I am looking for recipes that will help me on this journey. This is a recipe that I will try. Subscribed.
Just found your channel and absolutely love it. Became a subscriber and look forward to following you. Stay well and thank you for your contribution to our health!
I love sardines, but I haven’t eaten them in 40 years!! My father would pour vinegar over them and we would eat them right out of the can. I must try your recipe. It looks wonderful!! ❤️❤️❤️
A fresh slice of sourdough bread topped with sardines, sliced raw onions and garden fresh jalapeño pepper slices is my fav way of enjoying sardines! Thank you, Mary for the recipe gonna give it a go!

Hi mary....I love sardines,,I eat them at least 3 times a week with raw garlic raw spinage with broccoli sprouts and then drizzled with Dr.Grundys olive oil....it's a nice saled.
just made this, with parsley and basil from the garden. and extra onion like you. really enjoying it. I've been searching for a good sardine delivery recipe, and this is delightful! (never would have thought to add the lemon zest, but love that in my chia pudding too.)
Oh my gosh! I've just found you Mary! Thank you for this amazing channel! How I have missed traditional cooking, and am so excited to learn all I've forgotten 🙏❤❤❤❤
I love your channel! I learn so much and find myself smiling much of the time. You’re so informative! I often wonder if you are/were a Home Economics teacher, but today I suspect you are a salesman, because you totally sold me on trying this sardine recipe! I’ve never even tried a sardine, but I now believe I’m missing out and plan to try this recipe this weekend. Thank you.
I used to eat sardines over rice when I was a child. Never tried this way, but I made it today, and it was very good! My husband and I ate it over rice and also with chips. Will make it again! Thank you Mrs. Mary.

Mary's Nest your not supposed to eat uncooked eggs???
Tarzan ...What egg?
Mary please talk less. Get on with it.
@@stephaniewallace8376 ... God yes, she waffles on & on for 50% of the video. It's only mashed up cold tinned sardines #ffs
We both live in TEXAS :D aye aye chef
I love sardines! I like trying new foods. I don’t understand why some people won’t eat anything that doesn’t come in a Kraft box. She has such a pleasant voice. I could listen to her all day.
Probably because the smell is overwhelmingly bad for some, not me, can't smell at all, but i'll hear complaints about it which is how i know it can smell atrocious, lol.
You have no idea...I came EXACTLY to say that. (the listen to her all day, statement) ;) THANKS Mary~!
I bet people are going to become less picky when there is no food 😏
Cuz people are close minded
Maybe culturally they have not been exposed to some foods. Exposure to foods also has to do with the family socioeconomic level.
I was raised eating sardines. My mother would buy the Mediterranean ones and serve it to me in the can with some white rice and diced onions or sometimes a fried egg. It was one of my favorite meals.
Love with rice.
I like eating them for a snack also.
Sounds good!
My dad always loved them, and I would share a can with him , paired with saltine crackers.
Where are you from .
Mary let me say you have a delightful voice and manner … thank you for your recipe!
Wow, that sounds good too!
Agreed 💯 👍
Thank you SO much!! Love, Mary ❤️🤗❤️
Oh I love this! Thank you I will try it tomorrow for lunch!
This is what I imagine a kitchen is heaven would be like ! Wonderful recipe! Thanks for sharing!!!

My God! Haven't seen soo much wholesomeness on the internet for a long time.... Love this content.
Thank you for sharing! 😀
Awesome. Someday I want to visit Norway ❤
My husband is Dutch & so creative in the kitchen. I’m spoiled 😀
Gloria A. - Hi Gloria, Yes, right out of the can is delicious!! Stay healthy too!!❤️🤗❤️
I was expecting her to put this in a oven... people really eat raw eggs?
This looks AMAZING 🤩 thanks Mary !!!😊
No eggs added so no cooking needed 😊

I've only ever eaten sardines on a saltine, but this looks fascinating. I will definitely be trying this. Thank you!

@@JA-mn1en what makes you think there wasn't plenty more for others? There nothing wrong with stocking up.
Your hubby sounds like my self I would of bought a hundred dollars worth of them I'm the only one that will eat them I love them in mustard and hot sauce. God bless you and all of your family amen
My kids and I eat sardines together with hot sauce all the time!!!! This should be awesome
Oh my!! Hot sauce!! That has got to be delicious!! Love, Mary
@@MarysNest it truly is!!! Also horseradish sauce goes well with them too.
Sardines with hot sauce is delicious.

Sardines are considered one of the superfoods. It has the ATP molecule, which gives you energy. Read Dr. Frank's No Aging Diet book.
jimmie200 - Thank you!! Will do!!❤️🤗❤️
@M.J .H 😂 😂
I always loved sardines but when I tried this recipe- OMG! This is to die for! I will serve this to any guest as a healthy appetizer.
Wow I love the way you teach. Even the tips on broth was perfect timing. I’m trying to make my own for the first time. Thank you 😊🙏🏽
Mary, I love your tips along the way, the substitution suggestions, the pace of the videos, all of it. Thank you so much!
Recipe??
Would you kindly post your recipe? My best girlfriend was polish and I just loved everything her Mama made for dinner. I really would like to try out your recipe it sounds yummy 😋
You talked me into buying sardines. We got them home and were afraid to try them. Hopefully this recipe works 😂
Grazia J. This sounds fantastic! I am going to try it to put that together. I love horseradish and I am always looking for things to put it on! Please post the recipe if you get the chance.❤️
Hi. I have 24% “Polish” DNA! My paternal grandpa was from Warsaw!!!
I just made this. It's delicious. Also I used fermented red onions. Thank you Mary for sharing wonderful recipes with us. Merry Christmas y'all.
I made this for dinner tonight and it is going to be one of our regulars from here on. It was delicious!
Thanks Mary, I must say that you are such a sweet lady! You always seem so happy and I simply enjoy watching your videos. Keep up the great work. God bless...❤
You are a wonderful speaker. Thanks for making everything so clear.
Mary thank you for this sardines recipe. I love fish sardines and kippers are my favourites.
Used to eat … Sourdough bread , sardines , sliced boiled egg , thin sliced onion and a mustard dressing . Delicious
Hi Mrs.
Hi Miranda, Thank you so much for the kind words! Glad you’re here!! I hope that you can return to Texas soon. God bless you too!! Love, Mary
Scrolling down your voice is very pleasant and calm definitely will be trying this recipe thanks for the detail video
Awesome. For those concerned about coming food shortages. Marys bean videos and here canned sardines is as good as it gets!!
Stay off the carbs - especially white bread. You'll experience a relieve in your health probs
Love sardines will try it thanks for sharing 👍❤🇬🇭
I’ve always eaten sardines just with chopped onion - thanks for the idea of adding lemon, herbs and thank you commentators for suggesting other additions🙂💐

Thank you SO much for the kind words!! WELCOME!! Glad you’re here!! Love, Mary
I just purchased 5 cans of Sardines and just used cracker , but now I will try your recipe.
God Bless!
Thank you so much!!! i have been looking for ways to eat more canned fish because they are soooo good for you.
Oh Robin!! I am SO happy to hear this. Canned fish like sardines are so good for us!! Love, Mary
@@MarysNest i was glad you mentioned putting it on a salad. I cant do crackers. But all those tastes sound like they would be awesome on a salad and you wouldnt even need dressing. Definitely going to be trying this
Love this thank you Mary, my timorese mother in law she beautifully gives me a few tins a week so I will enjoy this
"Hi sweet friends!" haha gets me every time! ah, you are the sweetest! your videos make me so happy
Thank you, Mary. I am sure you are helping a lot of people take good care of their health.
This is the answer to my prayers! My husband loves sardines!
I ran across your channel looking for a bread recipe... little did I know I'd find a jewel of a site with so much great content. Thanks!

love this recipe ....mine is MED Sardines ...thinly sliced green onions ...dried parsley and of course FRESH!!! lemon ...(must be fresh! not bottled) squeezed and soaked into this LOVELY dip along side with a BOX of town house crackers seasoned with sea salt and olive oil ...dont get the overly flavored crackers it takes away from this flavored sardine dip ...love it sooo good !! ...it keeps me outta the big bag of (addicting) greasy potato chips

I love sardines. I ate a lot of them when I was pregnant and my daughter is very smart, wonder if it was the sardines 😁
God bless,
Rob
