The bones in tinned sardines, pilchards and other tinned fish contains _so much_ goodness (minerals and trace elements) that it is mad to buy boneless (or to pick out the bones, as some people do). The bones in tinned fish are soft and entirely edible. Same applies to the sardine skin to some extent.

I happened to be a sardine connoisseur. Great Value sardines packed in water are my go to. They are bigger, 4 or 5 to a can. They have a good firm texture and are priced right. 12 cans in the display cardboard box. I buy a box a week. I've tried more expensive brands, skinless, boneless, all the flavors etc and Great Value packed in water win.

Thirty years ago sardines were at the top of anti-aging lists. Now hardly anyone mentions sardines! They are excellent because of the Omega 3's. I knew of a man who went on a fish diet and he got rid of his arthritis. Apparently, if you have MS and go on a fish diet then your symptoms will disappear. The other thing I want to mention is chia seeds. They are also high in omega 3's. Excellent for health also. Best wishes to everyone here! May we all find our way to excellent health!

I've done the Dr Boz sardine fast several times (I had never had sardines before in my life!) & had great results & found out that I DO like sardines! I like to heat mine in a pan with a little butter or bacon grease & lemon pepper, SO GOOD! I am planning to do another one this week as I fell off track a couple of weeks ago due to a work trip & am trying to get back in the groove of strict carnivore again (I will be traveling for work for 1 week a month, so I have already done some planning ahead for my next trip so that I will be less likely to fall off!) Every day for years I have eaten a can of sardines or brisling or mackerel or salmon (heated) in Meal-1.
My "Omega Quant" report shows a very good (low) Omega-6:Omega-3 ratio of 2.2:1
My HS CRP measure of chronic inflammation is 0.28. VERY low inflammation!
"Can a day" is an alternative to "fast a month"!
I'm nearly 76. Ketogenic from 2017. Near-Carnivore from 2019. No prescribed medications during my 70s.

I'm ending a total 72-hour fast today, and I'm excited to switch over to a 72-hour sardine fast, but rather than do one right away, for the first time I'm going to modify it by including Keto-friendly wraps, avocados, aged gouda, clover and broccoli sprouts, hummus, a Keto-friendly IQ Bar (six brain nutrients!), unsweetened Kefir, possibly some lean turkey and/or turkey jerky and other healthy "stuff".
Fortunately, I love sardines, so it won't a challenge in that sense, but I'm thinking for the first time it might be too abrupt a switch from no food to just sardines. That's something that I can and will phase in going forward.
I liked and subscribed, and by the way, I'm a guy, Keto Woman, so please keep in mind that not all of your viewers are ladies (I bring that up because the way you spoke it sounded as though they're the only ones who follow your channel). Yet everyone can benefit from your videos.

Thank you for this video. I had seen Dr Boz's challenge, but couldn't imagine eating sardines. Then watched your video & decided to try. I like them! Who knew. At first I fried in butter, but read that heat may lower omega 3, so took the plunge and ate out of can with salt & clean mustard. The biggest benefit is that I now have a set carnivore routine that I can stick to:
sardines for lunch, and meat & eggs for dinner...or the other way around. No dairy for me, and I couldn't seem to eat that much meat every day. But this works great, and fits in budget just fine.
I stopped my Vit D supplement, and just take electrolytes (NutriBiotic capsules)

I saw this video, and since I've always loved sardines I thought I would give it a try. My weight loss has slowed, but I only have 20 lb left to lose so I know that's to be expected.
I don't have a ketone meter, but I did buy some blood glucose strips out of curiosity and my fasting blood sugar was 120 - which did not make me happy. I was formally type 2 diabetic many years ago and lost 250 lb (low carb 75-80/day, not keto) which resolved the issue. And I DON'T want it back.
I've been keto carnivore (strict) for at least 2 years so I don't know what's going on with that.
Anyway, I did the challenge and thank God for your dressing recipe! It made the experience much more delicious and satisfying. That pop of flavor just did so much for me!
By the end of the challenge I was 5.8 lb lighter (I do expect to gain a little bit back when I start eating normally again) and my fasting blood sugar went down every day and today it was 76!
I wonder if having a tin of sardines every day would continue some of the good benefits I have like 40 tins so I guess I'll do that anyway haha...
As always, you're wonderful - you help us all so much and you're my absolute favorite. I hope that you're feeling better - I know you haven't been feeling well. I wanted to let you know how much you help me live a better life - thank you so much!

@@KetogenicWoman I just wanted to acknowledge that the calories are there. A tablespoon of either one does add 130 calories to the 90-120 calories in the sardines. The same thine is true for 110+ calories that are added when you get sardines in olive oil.

Though not consistent with challenge my new go to breakfast (inspired by Dr Boz) is a can of sardines in a cup with 2 raw eggs (risk of salmonella in appropriately obtained eggs is about risk of getting struck by lightning). The sardines help the eggs taste better and eggs cut the intensity of sardines- great macro breakdown (I know many are not fans of either ; )

@Jeannine1065 I also love sardines but I absolutely hated the taste when they were cooked. The other thing I realized was that these sardines that have the bones and skin taken off of them taste awful. At least to me. I lasted 1 day on the fast because I kept having that fishy taste in my mouth and it made me so nauseated the first night that I went back to straight carnivore. After I told my girlfriend that she said that she probably would not do 3 days in a row again, but would just eat them more regularly. But it did work for her.

A dash of Mustard for emulsified and there is a new dressing. Frying Mackerel or Sardines hmm not sure what that does to your Omega 3's might break them down Best to fact check that first IMO.
