I remember exploring this game thoroughly in classic vanilla, using all of these exploits and platforming. I remember exploring Hyjal and just screaming for hours, "how could they just lock this away? they worked so hard on it and it's like a museum!!!" what a beautiful place. Don't think I'll ever experience something like that again.
This video literally changed my life, as a kid back in 2004 I always wondered what this big piece of land was on the map. Thank you so much for showing us! So incredible!
This is the most historical place in world of Warcraft history. Imagine? Seeing the bone of one of the historical character in WOW. Such an amazing video. Thumbs up
Just want to point out that the Blasted Lands are in fact a giant crater caused by the closing of the Dark Portal, I belive in the end of Warcraft 2. Both Blasted Lands and Swamp of Sorrows used to be 1 single zone. So technicaly that one is the biggest crater in game :)
22:22 you are probably right about that, if you use far sight with a shaman there is a helicopter crashed landed up there, maybe the pilot was in awe seeing the giant Archimonde corpse
The new Hyjal is pretty much the same layout as the old zone, just with updated assets in Cataclysm being used so it didn't look like a Vanilla zone. All the work they put into it back then didn't go to waste fortunately. edit - About your Illidan prison speculation, in Cataclysm they have the Hyjal Barrow Dens, full of the Watchers guarding a notable Night Elf prisoner. Thats likely his actual prison.
I just explored this zone yesterday after wanting to for so long. I was utterly mind blown the way, its all very cool seeing something so rich in law, especially as a staunt Nelf palyer. I came here to check what someone elses opinion on it would be on the zone and I really liked your video, you really did it this fantastic zone a lot of justice.
Can you imagine what Vanilla would've been like with Hyjal, Karazhan, Caverns of Time and Outland?!? They all had complete or partial textures and objects but they decided to gate them behind an expansion. I've always wondered how power creep would've scaled if 60 were still the level cap.
Imagine the Dark Portal opening would happen, because the Players set Illidan free. It would be an coherand Story. Players set Illy free, Illy flees to Outland, Players raid Kara to get Mediv opening portal. Everything makes sense.
Me and some friends found a way into that onyxia's lair looking portal with mage blinking and dueling and fearing through the gate and its a complete copy inside of onyxia's lair layout without onyxia ofc :)
Bro, this video is your masterpiece. The music you chose is absolutely divine! Sure you don;t know much about WOW lore, but heh, at least you showed us all these amazing places and you did it in style. I've heard a story that this was supposed to be a lv 60 zone with a neutral night elf faction similar to Argent Dawn that would give you quests to kill various demons lurking around the zone and also a long attunement quest chain for the raid Barrow Deeps (the dungeon entrance that you see in that valley in the video) which was the ancient prison build specifically to house Illidan Stormrage. It's fun to speculate what kind of demons there may have been in Mt Hyjal and in the raid, but i imagine it would have been similar to the Black Temple raid and enemies. What bugs me is that the zone was almost complete, in much better shape than the other unfinished zones, but they never finished it. I would say about 70% complete in fact. It was just missing the npcs, enemies and a few building assets here and there. The town of the neutral NE faction would have been where the temple from the end of the video was at and the other locations would have been populated with demon enemies, mini bosses and probably other npcs for various quests. It really bothers me they never finished it... Sure they gave us a version of it in the Mt Hyjal raid in TBC, but it's just not the same. The craters that can be seen in Hyjal were made by meteoric Infernals that were summoned by Archimonde as he was climbing to the summit. They were not made by the explosion of Archimonde. He was planning to absorb the energy of Nordrassil and create a massive invasion portal in the pool at the roots of it in order to summon his master Sargeras back into Azeroth, like it happened 10000 years ago during the War of the Ancients storyline. TY for making this!
Soupa, you do realize you’re a fantastic unintentional Asmr artist? Haha always awesome videos especially these, I remember when I must’ve been 12-13 doing this all day. Cheers for the memories
I really don't understand why blizzard decided to leave out this region from the vanilla game. It just feels so mysterious and mature from an art perspective. I feel like hijal is comparable to some graphicly newer regions like icecrown and storms peak, much more than the other mountain zones in vanilla which in my opinion look funny and oddly placed. Really hoped we could've played in there before cataclysm
Before you jump down from the cliff at the end, drink Noggenfogger to get slowfall.. You can then jump amazing distances across multiple zones , depending on the angle you take (you probably still need something to survive as the flight will take longer than the 2 minute duration of the potion!!! )
For how much i hate what direction they went with WoW today, these days are just irreplaceable. Especially when i was little, new to gaming, and there were no addons and everything was a mystery. There were barely any guides or information out there and everyone was just kind of exploring everything for themselves. Even until today i just have so much joy leveling through questing. Miss those days so much
I remember when wow was full of secrets and was worth exploring. Mystery and the fear of death made this game great, and now that's gone. I wish a wow with some of the new features and the old essence
They patched it. Blizzard doesn't like people having fun apparently. There's another way in but Blizzard has resorted to the ultimate patch of teleporting anyone who's in Hyjal for more than 10 seconds out of the zone.
hope you do the mount hyjal questline (cataclysm expansion). i could reccomend doing the old raid Battle for Mount Hyjal also, log on your rouge and head down to Tanaris/Caverns of Time for raidentrence. i think you will like it :) keep up the good work.
The place at 13:30 is the place of Fandral's wife's grave I think, I recently levelled a character through Cataclysm and the layout seems similar in some places; Also, the structure at 11:15, is where a Satyr is and is part of a questline in Cataclysm as well.
It's called Leyara's Sorrow and its where her and Fandral's daughter, Istaria's, grave was. However, Istaria died sometime during Lich King/Cataclysm, so it may have had a different idea behind it.
Wouldn't un'goro crater be the largest crater in Warcraft? I know there is nothing on how it was made or if some kind of meteor hit in that region. (As far as I can tell.) But it is a crater non the less.
Yes they enlarged this small piece of mountain so you can't jump up that cove anymore, sadly. But even if you could manage to get into Hyjal, you would get a debuff and find yourself teleported out of the zone in TBC classic.
@@bk-1337 I can’t imagine being the Blizz employees that insisted on ruining access, just to destroy people’s fun on discovering a secret/exploring it. Just really pathetic party pooper people to block it off - there’s no sound reason for them to do it. I played WoW from winter 2004 Vanilla to the beginning of WotLK (sooo many years ago now), but I totally remember wondering what this Hyjal area on the map was about, and if I’d ever see inside it, etc... I don’t recall anyone finding a way inside of it that I knew at least. I know I sure tried though! This video is so cool, and makes me so nostalgic. And Blizzard cutting off the secret way to enter it reminds me of why I left - because they were fun ruiners starting with the release of TBC in and of itself! They crapped all over the absolute insane amount of time I had put into getting my rank 14 in pvp/the armor and weapons that came with it. They made all of my hard earned gear totally worthless with the lvl cap increase to 70, and even made a mockery of my high warlord achievement and title with the new pvp (uber casual) system that was implemented, because everyone and their mother could earn the title and l33t gear easily with the changes. It was sickening.
SoupaSoka, if you're actually going to do something like this: you should really look up a video called a Paladin's Journey by Khamul. This dude is hella unknown, but i remember finding him out on warcraftmovies, basically showcasing (from live servers) places such as this since classic and adding amazing music. It was like an artistic journey. I wish you could have a better depiction, as his entire video got silenced when they first introduced the copyright bots way back in the day. I think you can still find some of his work on warcraftmovies, but this video literally reminded me of it.. and it'd be great if you lit the torch back up again.
at 11ish minutes i you start to see ruins and see how much of that was kept for cata.. thats the area where you fight all the elementals and save bear cubs on a trampoline
I wanted to know how to disable the forced teleport that the game does when I enter that area on my private server, I use trinity core is there any code or any file that I can delete?
You can get into the Cave at! th-cam.com/video/5kuJowGULAk/w-d-xo.html its an exact copy of Onyxias Lair! ( mage use blink to get behind entrance) but without any mobs ^^
I think a more reasonable theory for big cater , which make sense with the fact they have putted an orc camp there , is in WC3 after you acrchimonde kills a base he scourged the ground , maybe the aftermath of it is these craters . question is where is the human camp ?
i tried doing this on a private server, you can't just walk up that first hill. I wonder if blizzard changed the landscape at some point cause i tried this on a wrath client, i was unable to walk up the first hill before the pillar
This might be the case, I some of the paths in this series aren't doable in modern WoW for one reason or another. I think some changes may have been unintentional, even.
@@SoupaSoka When you were swimming down that deep water pit, how come you didn’t have issues with drowning? Just curious. :) Thanks for making this!
If a GM can teleport why would the GM need to do all that to get in? Also you just let GMs know a flaw in design to fix in the future because that is obviously not the correct way to go in lol

Would be a ridiculous amount of content, but in a good way.
Would have been worth the two extra install discs needed for them.
Check turtle wow
God I want to make a private server specifically dedicated to this idea.
I do think that is what makes TBC one of greatest expansions.. and to be fair I am happy that they done it like that.

I wish they had made classic exactly as they probably planned it. That would have been so epic.
It was planned to be a raid where we had to defeat demons so that they wouldn't revive archimonde

Epic finish to the movie. Fade to black.
looks like they changed the terrain on the TBC classic client, the slope is higher and too steep at 1:14
Thank you for sharing! Reminded me a time, when fun servers had this zone for leveling 1-255. 14 years ago. :ˇ(

Crazy how much it looks like the raid lol.. almost sad they didn’t include this in vanilla.
try old ironforge, if i remember correctly it's behind a locked door in the ironforge throne room.
