    Blizzard: Scraps the Demon race, because they wanted them to be shapeshifters, but that would be a lot of work.
    Also Blizzard: Creates the Druid class.

    • @alienbounty5457
      @alienbounty5457 4 ปีที่แล้ว +23

      While this isn’t fact. I believe that the Druid class was made to shapeshift with that fact that they knew what animals there would be and how limited the class would be. The demons would most likely just start with shapeshifting and that would be really over powered. People would just start using demons. The Druid class is most likely what the demon racial would have been if the animal forms were earned. This isn’t me not getting a joke. I’m just giving my theory.

    World of Warcraft's Game Masters have a semi-strict uniform policy in game, where they wear a distinct blue and black robe and hood. These items are in the game but unobtainable by players, among which are the Gamemaster's Hood, Gamemaster's Robes and Gamemaster's Slippers, respectively. Additionally, these Game Masters you would see in-game tended to be developers or higher-ranked quality-assurance staff. Your average Game Master is sitting in a booth in Texas or California, accessing World of Warcraft's in-game chat via a unique command prompt window outside of the game. This window allows them to be outside of game while still being able to assist you, which additionally allowed them to assist multiple people at once if absolutely necessary, there is no longer pressure on staff to juggle reaponses. Additionally, when you are mailed an item from a Game Master, an invisible Blizzard Ledger item is put in the mailbox from their end and sent, giving the trademark Blizzard watermark on official Game Master mail messages.

    The Emerald Dream zone file was independently located within the game directory for the longest time, existing in game but remaining inaccessible to players due to a lack of instance triggers to go to the zone. This is how we have the initial file. The Emerald Dream was, again, worked on and updated to a small extent during Legion, with Druids battling Demons in the open expanses. This was, however, scrapped yet again as the zone was far too expansive, and as they wanted to tie it into the raid.

    Within undeveloped areas, Blizzard placed Infernals named "Guardian of Blizzard" (Infernals were originally referenced as Baelrogs internally). These mobs ran at mach speed and could instantly one-shot a player in hope of steering players away. Eventually these were scrapped and replaced with other means, chief in Mount Hyjal the famous "No Man's Land" debuff, which teleported players to Winterspring upon entering the Mount Hyjal zone.

    No lying here, I've been playing on a private server recently, and the exploration behind the huge dungeons like BRD and Maraudon are so much fun because they are so big. Deciding were to go and were this random passage way will lead. Whereas the smaller dungeon system is far too linear for my liking and becomes repetitive quickly.

    • @aussie870
      @aussie870 5 ปีที่แล้ว +61

      I did specifically state that I was playing on a private server, so I don't really care about how M+ dungeons would work in classic content. I'm simply stating that the designs of dungeons like BRD and other long and sprawling dungeons are simply much preferred in my books. There is no need to get pissy just because I stated an opinion.

    • @vanyadolly
      @vanyadolly 5 ปีที่แล้ว +34

      Yeah I think they might have underestimated that if SM was popular it might partially be because it has a great lore concept and design as well, not just due to its size. The variation between dungeon sizes in vanilla was refreshing.

    • @wowlover16
      @wowlover16 5 ปีที่แล้ว +14

      @vanyadolly SM was definitely a favorite due to its lore, design, and unforgetable final boss. "Mograine has fallen? You shall pay for this treachery!" The frequency in which people pulled extra adds by being below level 38 and that awesome hat also helped in how memorable the dungeon became. RIP Interrogator Vishas.

    The first place Outlands was tested was within the Deadmines instance, where outside the caverns you can find a gaping chasm complete with floating crystalline trees, Dalaran bubbles and scorched stone. Development was halted here as they created a new zone file to continue actual development of Draenor. Initially, Draenor and Northrend were to be in the initial game but, due to time constraints and a desire to not cut on content, were held off for expansions.

I know I know, Garrisons are supposed to be the solution to that often requested feature, but real player housing should have been located in Org for Horde, Stormwind for Ally, not in some off-zone area we'll never have any reason to go to again. And now with so many different vanity items and the potential to make even more types where they to add the capability, I really could see this working.

      They were. Queen Azshara and the other Highborne were responsible for the War of the Ancients (the Burning Legion's first invasion of the world) due to some lies by Sargeras. In trying to summon him the Well of Eternity (the source of the Highborne's magic) imploded and and pierced the planet's core creating the Maelstrom. [From here the Azshara Warbringer tells the rest of the creation.] The aftermath of this led to Zin-Azshari (the capital city of the Night Elves) being sucked into the Maelstrom. Queen Azshara then made the deal with N'Zoth and he turned her and her Highborne into the Naga.

    Using player created dps meters instead of making their own. Yeah, that sounds like Blizzard. "Why make good clear raid mechanics when everyone is just gonna use DBM? Why make a customizable UI when everyone is just gonna use an add-on for it?"

      I don't see what the point in being mad about it is. Bethesda's policy is pretty much the same. There's a lot of things they don't give a shit about because they know their modding community will likely take care of whatever it needs to.

      @@Edrosty Just because a modding community exists does not mean we should give developers a free pass to be lazy.

      @@ahack13 its not a needed thing you dont need recount. honestly it help as much as having good ilvl requirments for raids because at that level gear / class is the biggest factor that affects a dps meter all it really does is show who the noobs are. I dont care if the dev use a fan made mod why should they waste time to make one an keep it up to date when someone else has done the work?

      It is actually smart, focus on where your strengths are. If you make your own system that means it is an extra system to support. Look at voice, it was added in Wrath(?) and hadn't seen an update until recently.

      If Blizzard made their own DBM or damage meters... everyone would just replace them with better more customizable fan-made addons. So Blizzard intelligently says 'screw it'.

    I used to enjoy bugging my way to the the underground of Iron Forge and going across the mountains to get on the old Iron Forge Airfield and so on! Stuff like that used to feel like real accomplishments once you pulled them off. To be honest going to the party at Shatterspear Village was probably the best memories for me as once a friend and I were done partying with them we killed them all to keep them from telling anyone about us lol. Man those were the good ol days!

    Yeah, I caught a 1-month ban for finding myself a way up to the Dwarven airfield.... and the top of the Ironforge entryway.... and figuring out how to fall below Stormwind and run back and forth between there and Ironforge below the tram...

      kinda fucked up how they didn't add female ogres but female Trolls, Tauren, Undead were hot enough(?)

    • @HellecticMojo
      @HellecticMojo 5 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      They struggled with that too. Undead originally looked like hunched humans with nightelf skin colors and female trolls weren't liked by the community and had to be changed into human women with tusks. Given the response to the trolls, they probably couldn't figure out a way to make an attractive overweight female model.
      Also this was way before THICC was in.

      Well now that we can play fat models of women with kul'tyras, this won't be an excuse anymore, and we may see ogres one day.

    The minute i saw the thumbnail I had to come here- Im not usually one to be picky about "what is or isn't in vanilla/wow", but the one thing that has stuck to me ever since i was 12 and started vanilla wow was that one gate in stormwind with the portal behind it that we NEVER got to experience! I NEED TO KNOW WHAT IT IS!!!

    Fans have made good models for female Ogres, though.
