    I am so glad I found this series! My family and I are heading to Britain from Seattle this summer and my husband and I need to keep our training up for a big ride when we get back. Thanks for sharing these - this sort of thing is never in the guide books. I can't wait!!!!

    of course I did. I was referring to the whole series in general, being impressed how it can help people new in the UK to find the best rides as well as helping locals to bring some new elements into their riding. I look especially forward to new rides close to London. Thanks Bike Radar!

    Glad you liked it. Have you seen Ep 1 of the series where Chris Boardman shows us his route? (there's a click through link in at the end of the video)

    Thanks for watching. They're all actual roads, just very very small ones. You'd be able to get a single large car - or, crucially, a tractor - through most of them, but when you meet oncoming traffic you have to slow down and look for a passing point where the road widens.

    Was great to meet you dude. Thanks for showing us round the route. The bar for cold meat snacks has been set. Will the other videos match this?

    That sounds great! We've already got our shortlist for the current series of Britain's Best Rides, but if you get on Cycling Plus' Facebook page and give them a 'like' then you might be able to enter your ride for the next series. Good luck!

    Thanks for the comment. Japan must be full of beautiful scenery and we'd imagine the mountains would be incredibly tough to ride?

    Enjoyed doing the ride and enjoyed doing the video, but god I sound 'Reet Cumbrian' dust that know! Just glad we had the weather to show my local ride off to it's full and true potential! THERE IS NOTHING BETTER IN THE UK!!! (Pending the other videos...)

    I also think the Cumbria Tourist Board should end you a big bottle of champaigne because I am now telling everyone to go and do this ride and spend time in the lakes...it is that good..!

    This is perfect for me, moving to Britain next month and needed a new set of routes since, clearly, I can't take mine from Germany with me

    Indeed, if nothing else the savoury snacking is second to none... It's technically a 40 booze/pie cruise around the 'shire' with a small hill in the middle!!! Welcome one an all, come to see for yourselves and pick a fine day!

    I am riding this in a few weeks time and need to plan the ride - so what are the GPS coordinates for a Garmin 800?

    Based on James's summary we booked 4 days in the lakes and eventually went last weekend and did this ride - it was every bit as good as he says...many thanks for the recommendation.
    I would love to know what rear cassette you are using, because I found a 12/28 wasn't enough?
    I think there are so many nice rides in the area and you can ride for 2 hours without seeing anyone...what a pleasure that is.

      Do you think it's difficult for someone who hasn't been on a bike for years?

  • @edwardhodgson3122
    @edwardhodgson3122 10 ปีที่แล้ว

    @bmdonlin: All the roads are 'open' roads. In the Lake District the vast majority of roads are like this, single file car width roads with the odd passing place here and there...

    I thought that my singing voice was awesome considering the climb I'd just done - look out for me on The Voice 2014! (I'm going to have to go with Will.I.Am...)

    The link in the description for the route map doesn't seem to be working... anyone have a working link, please?

  • @bikeradar
    @bikeradar  11 ปีที่แล้ว

    Why not set a ride up using the Bikeradar forum, or see who's interested here?

      +cherylscottibiza If you have a look in the video description there's a link to a route map. The GPX is available there too.

    The Broughton Wheelers Lakes loop link about isn't working so has anyone else have the GPS .GPX route file please?

    • @bikeradar
      @bikeradar  10 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's odd, it's still working fine for us in Chrome. Do you mean the link to the route page, or the GPX download link once you get there?

    • @flex10071
      @flex10071 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      BikeRadar Thanks for your note - the link works, but once you download the file (in GPX) it won't update to the Garmin 800 - it seems like the file is empty.

      Kyle Schembri At 40miles, it's probably best to work up to it if you aren't used to riding. You might get away with it if you're fit, but it's aways best to start with shorter rides.
