For the controversy around 7:20 I would say that I didn't actually see him pull, instead I saw his hand go up and then sideways, into the FDJ rider's side, in order to make sure that the rider knew he was there are if he kept going they both would likely go down, so it may have helped them both stay in the race.
The FDJ rider has a name: Ramon van Sinkeldam. The defending champion that year. He himself said Mathieu fairly beat him.
Part of the problem is the bend in the finishing straight.
@@peterdieleman303that's not his name. He's called raymond sinkeldam.
@@drunkensailor112 Ha we're both wrong, sorry I wrote this quickly.
It's Ramon Sinkeldam.
@@peterdieleman303 ah lol. Double bad
But back on topic: Sinkeldam would have pushed MvdP into the barriers if Mathieu hadn't signaled him with his hand. Pure self preservation. No controversy at the time and no controversy now. Such a shame you feel like you need to smudge this 'typical' great MvdP victory.
What makes him unique is his enormous capacity to recover during a race. So even when he has attacked, he's still able to win a sprint a little later.
A one in a generation talent with a kind heart and a good moral compass. Enjoy him while you still can.
Great job on yet another cycling documentary. Always glad to see your videos pop up.
Thank you 🙏
Rob Hatch will forever be my favorite announcer for that call and that call alone. Long live MvdP!!!
Absolute animal, sustaining wattages that would kill a mere human. Brilliant cycling filmmaking & narration.
Yet, he can't even produce enough wattage to power a toaster. 😅
@@psd9850 you aint too bright, u need to look up how many watts of toaster uses
@@user-xj5xp6qz5g 2 minutes at 1000 watts?
@@psd9850 glad to see you know how to google..so now do you see how you are wrong?
I hope many many people will have a chance to see this video, one if not THE best cycling documentary out there!
I appreciate it.
I am comparatively new as a viewer of professional cycling, your videos are just too good. Almost feels like crying when they win, you make their success feels mine. Amazing job Rifianboy..❤
Finally! Another documentary. ❤
Wow, what a great video.
So well done.
Many many thnx for this ! 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼

National geographic should hire you@@RIFIANBOY
I knew what happened already in all these races... but the way you made this video, the suspense was like watching everything for the first time. Brilliant!
What a great wrap up and graphical masterpiece this video is. Thanks for collecting the moments and highlighting them so creatively. !!!
Great job on this cycling documentary!
17:45 he was just taking a short breather before his final attack!
Long time no see you RifianBoy! We miss you!
I was hoping to finish this video by early March, but I never get things done on schedule 😅
Absolutely fantastic! And just to illustrate, my favorite cycling moment of all time was actually MvdP on Mur de Bretagne, taking yellow for his grandfather Poulidor with an incredible double attack; one to get the bonus seconds he needed, and the second for the stage win. ❤ But such a great documentary; great images as well; dankjewel Hamza!
I love that moment on Mur de Bretagne as well! I’m shivering down my spine when I even think of it🤣 let’s all enjoy this living legend.
amazing highlight! felt every moment VDP is freaking incredible
Always a great morning getting to watch a new RIFIANBOY documentary!
I'm not a VDP fan, but this was the most beautifull win of all classic races I have ever seen ! This shows hard working can be rewarded !!
Another great effort. Quality is 1,000% like always. thanks guys
Hamza, your videos are always excellent. Great job as ever.
Always happy when you upload rifian
Thank you for this majestic video!
Love videos like this. MDVP is my favorite cyclist even when he’s away from pro cycling.
Would love to see you cover wins from unexpected/underrated riders over the years
Amazing Video, Great documentary, hope to see more about van aert, tadej and more of the fan favourite pros
Best cycling documentaries on youtube!

Awesome content as always ,.🎉❤❤
Love your channel and MVDP and WVA 💯
SAGAN the legend ❤
so epic ! great works as every time !
Incredible editing and storytelling, loved this
7:30 van der Poel was definetly not in the wrong. He may have pushed his opponent out of the way, but he was going left and more left almost into van der Poel which is definetly wrong
What a legendary story, an epic tale retold so well here. 🔥😎✨
Wout and Mathieu are worth eachotter no matter how you turn it . They both big champions !
The quality of your videos are mesmerizing
legend video, again.
This channel is amazing

Great video bud! Please make such short documentaries on cycling more often

What a wonderful documentary made for free on TH-cam :)
The endless loops of ups and downs, left and right, drains the body and the mind!!!
Allez!! You are back 😃
Epic, thank you
Sick video! 🎉
Wow to MVDP and your channel! How have I not found you before?!?! Incredible content and subject all around! 👏
Glad you enjoy it
Great video, you should do another of WVA and Pogi 💪
Geez this is TV broadcast quality documentary, crazy! You should work in the industry. Keep on!
Great Doku Button ------->
This was great written and made. Thanks!
I'm pretty sure Mathieu Van Der Poel just signaled the FDJ rider that he'd pass, he didn't actually pull the FDJ rider, but simply alerted the FDJ rider that he'd pass from the left side, and he needed to alert the FDJ rider since he was pretty close to the barrier
Great video epic moments !
Best cycling channel out there
Great job!
Thank you
That win in Amstel is Legendary!!
man, your documentaries should be on netflix. I would really want to see a series of episodes or a long form one, the way you deliver interests and narration is chef-d'œuvre
Thank you. Maybe one day.
Amazing video!
The most aggressive rider I have ever seen in history with four cycling discipline: 1. Cyclocross, 2, Road Bike, 3. Gravel and 4. Mountain Bike. Not many could match his performance and success in the modern cycling era.
super viedeo gemacht - thanks a lot
What a brilliant video. Kudos
Awesome video 🎉
BABE WAKE UP RIFIAN JUST DROPPED ANOTHER BANGER VIDEO
Verdadeiramente Van Der Poel ´´e um ciclista exemplar... pra mim ele é uma inpiração para pedalar , parabéns pelo esxelente documentario ficou otimo .👏👏👍
Excelente trabalho. Parabéns. Um abraço do Brasil.
Brilliant film. Please also make one for Pogacar, Pidcock and Van Aert 👍
Will try to come up with video ideas about them .
What an awesome video. 🎉
Inspiring performance!
Very well done 👍!
An awesome movie! Thanks
I love that your back (can you maybe do a documentary of Wout van Aert)
Thank you. Maybe later this year.
Thats good for me because i know that those documentaries cost a lot of time @@RIFIANBOY
Insane story telling and a clear story line good job
Thank you.
cool, like the short Lance input.
"Because I was cold" Legend.
Great video
First time see, it's awe-inspiring wow, very well filmed music ambience and wham magical mindful ✨️ tactics and courage. I came across video by accident. Wow is so can say. I'm originally from Europe and you were born to cycle 😊 take my hat off to these guys. 🎉
Very nice video about van der poel
20:00 min in and i want to say good job on the video, love the story telling
Goosebumps
"Cycling is a Religion." There's a lot to be said for that statement.
That’s mad man behavior… what a beast.
He didn't pull him, he was letting him know he was there. And the FDJ rider didn't even complain
I think that his biggest quality is that he can recover way better and more quick then his colleagues, next to all his other excellent qualities. Mentally he is very strong too.
Nice job 👌👌👌
LOOK at VDP in the last seconds - in NO way did he pull or shove ANYONE ! VDP simply guarded his lane to make sure the other rider didn't push him into the barrier. NO foul play whatsoever !
That’s was badass, putting an arm out to a guy traveling right to left to make space.
Best cycling channel for me 🎉
Thank you
The funniest sh*t even in pro cycling is that wout van aert's face hasn't ever changed. I guess he was full grown already right after the birth
Amazing video
1st 6mins of the video gaves me chills. he is GOAT! MVDP is GOAT!
Would have liked to see some of his off-road victories......When he blew Nino away in Nove Mesto in 2019.
I'm at 4:20 and I love the story telling.
well done
In the first part you missed the guy hanging out of the sunroof in the white car (who may have given the time gaps to Alaphilippe and Fuglsang) with the fist in the air.
Brilliant review, the type of performance is undeniably quite impressive and with all the Legal supplements available it’s evident that the performance of these young men are now the standard. Or is it? 🧐
Great video! Super high quality, showing how great MDVP actually is. One point of criticism: calling Alaphilippe a smart rider isn't quite accurate. He's lost too many races by making stupid and impulsive decisions or by being too stubborn to pull in the group he was in. He furthermore made some more stupid decisions in the off season (partying too much and not following his training schedule because he didn't feel like it). This led to him being under prepared for the season and that's one of the main reasons he hasn't been able to get a good result in a while. He really caused his own downfall. He might have been one of the greatest at his peak, but he surely wasn't the smartest. (This is a rant fueled by built up frustration, apologies)
Great video but how many times are we gonna see a different version of it lmao
Motorbike was moving, not stationary.
