    • @andy-astro
      @andy-astro  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks Paul. After that big dump of snow, and seeing Skye had blue skies, it was too good an opportunity to miss. Usually with Skye on the coast the snow never lasts long in the glen. Cheers.

    That was a pretty spectacular video, which somehow I missed previously. Loved the scrunch of feet in snow, and the wonderful clarity of the air. Despite many visits to the Cuillin I was never lucky enough to have a day like that. But on the positive side I did do An Teallach in similar conditions. We didn’t have GoPro type of stuff in those days so I love your videos, takes me to places I won’t get to visit again ( too clapped out, gentle walks only nowadays).

    • @andy-astro
      @andy-astro  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yeah, it's not often we get days like this on Skye, with blue skies after fresh snow. With it being on the coast the snow in Glen Sligachan doesn't usually last long. I luckily live nearby so i'm able to grab these opportunities. Great day out. Cheers.

    Andy, Absolutely stunning - what a location, especially in these conditions! Those views are just about unequalled anywhere in the UK, though Mullach an Rathain on Liathach runs it close. You really feel that you are walking alongside hearing your footsteps in the snow. 👏

      I also love the sound your footsteps on your walks. It’s so calming punctuated with the silence when you stop. Such a contrast to load music on lots of these. After all most of us get out in the wilderness to experience not just the sights but the sounds. This walk has the most incredible views, especially right at the end. Thank you.

    Stunning Andy absolutely stunning👍 what a place Skye is with a winter coat. I still maintain that the views from the summit of sgurr na stri are the best in Britain. Top notch vid Andy, finding it hard to keep up with your vids at the moment😂😂
    I’ll catch up with the rest over next few days.
    How long there and back from Sligachan.?

    • @andy-astro
      @andy-astro  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Cheers Frank. Sgurr na Stri is deffo one of those 'wow' places. One hill I'll happily visit each year. Was a bit longer getting there this time due to the snow, it took me about 4.5 hours from Sligachan, then 3 hours to get back.

      Must compliment you on the simplicity of your vlog content; great quality but best of all the peace and quietness except for those sounds you experienced. Just wondered if a gimble/gimbal (?) of some sort might take some of the 'bounce' away as you walk which I personally find a bit distracting, but hey - I'm nit-picking! Great work :) @@andy-astro

    • @andy-astro
      @andy-astro  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@paultrussy4243 Thanks for the feedback. A gimbal would definitely steady the footage a bit more while i'm walking, but it would be a large piece of gear to carry and add extra weight. Most of the time i'm in the mountains so just having a small and light camera that i can throw in my pocket is perfect.

    Did you need crampons and axe ?

    • @andy-astro
      @andy-astro  ปีที่แล้ว

      I didn't need them, it was mostly fresh powder and very little ice, except on the water. I did see a few footprints near the top where someone else had worn some, their tracks headed off down to the Camasunary side.
