      Macan without a doubt. Love the interior on the Polestar though.

      I configured both. Polestar 4 ended up at 860K SEK. Macan easily went up to 1200K SEK... So although I fancy the Macan more, they really arent that comparable.
      Edit: Besides, although both seems really nice, if I were to spend up to 100K Euros on a car I would probably wait for the A6 e-tron anyway...

      Macan EV is easily the most head turning futurstic design I've seen. Plus it's interior is obviously in another universe compared to a polestar or tesla

    I'm ok with the no rear window design but it is a little bit too wide so that it's not easy for parking. Besides that, it is really the one for me.

      China obviously. Plus the lack of rear window might be explained by the Chinese PR team of Polestar, but obviously it saves money and this must be the only true explanation.

      This should be the middle car (between 2 and 3) and a competition for Model Y. But the price suggest otherwise. If you look at the 3 and take the same options on the 4 their is only a 10000€ price difference. Don’t understand their price range, originally it would start at 42000€, now it starts at 65000€. That’s just to expensive.

    The interior is completely animal free but the seat made with 100% recycle pet.

    What is it with the current obsession with HUGE wheels? Every single modern car is presented with absolutely massive wheels, that are both less aero (thus reducing range), and increasing unsprung mass. No need to mention extra cost for wheels and tires as well. Smaller ones with aerocovers would not only look more decent and not so much "in-your-face", but also improve ride quality imho.

    Don't get me wrong; huge room in the back is impressive but I think its often overrated. How often do you see 4 tall people in a car? I'd rather have a back window and a little less (but still enough) legspace.

      Me, my brother and my Dad are all 2 meters tall while our mum is 1.8 m so we take all the rear space we can get.

      Large leg room is status in China and that's what the car is made to accommodate. Europe is not priority any more.

      That could fix the outer looks, but it is pointless not to have it even for light to get in. Relying on a single camera looks to me like a bad decision. Plus electronic things can fail. If they made optional, the car overall looks pretty cool. But to me is a deal breaker. @@stevi7215

    I drove a refrigerated transit van with no rear window for uears. You use side mirrors to change lanes not the rear view mirror

      In extremely light traffic maybe but on the highway, you must check your rearview mirror especially if you want to enter the fast lane to know how fast the car behind you going

      Swedes designed this car so I suppose they thought of it. With the high placement I doubt it will become dirty, and it has a little hood to keep water away but we will see

    Let's be honest guys: in these times this is one of the freshest and most curated car designs that you can throw on your face. The proportions together with the details make great harmony. That rear end is just modern and balanced.
    Now, for 84k I'd rather get a 6cyl Diesel Benz tbh 😅

      If you've driven vans with no back windows you notice real quick it is not really necessary, but vans usually have big side mirrors.

      @@Guuggel Except, for me I find it pretty necessary for my dog; who rides in the boot. This probably is the deal-breaker that means I, and many other big breed-owners, might not buy this car.

    In the Polestar 2, the instrument display behind the steering wheel will show a modified view of maps/your route as you are driving. Does that feature carry over here? That is probably my most favorite QoL feature from the P2 over other vehicles.

    I don't see how not having no back window increases the space inside. I tis just a metter of using a different material. The extra room you showed is because of the wheelbase.

      Lmao u need ur eyes checked. The macan EV look way more futurstic and head turning while also being sporty. Porsches interior and fit and finish is in another stratosphere then this. Plus it's driving dynamics will obviously be better

    I'm quite conflicted on whether or not the boot can be used to transport your dog. I have a German pointing dog; who is very comfortable in the back of our Mustang Mach-E (which has a smaller boot than this one, at 407 liters). The boot of the Polestar 4 is quite bit bigger; and it is nice to see there is an opening at the height of the headrests in the back row. So that would mean daylight can reach the boot and we can still be 'connected' to our dog, occupying the car with us. On the other hand, no glass means it still is pretty confining in the back there. I'm curious to hear the thoughts of people who have experienced the car in person (and curious to see it myself).

    For safety reasons we can remove back door windows, improving the door rigidity, installing cameras. We can go even more and remove windshield ad sometimes stones can brake it and heavy objects may fly through it and damage people inside. Install screen and camera. Don't tell that ideas to car manufacturers. Adding screen instead of windshield allows to apply augmented reality projected onto the same screen, night vision, so many options you can't do with a convenient glass!

    An interesting preview, thank you.
    What is really interesting is where joint owner Geely is headed. It is likely to own more of loss making Polestar now Volvo has declined further investment. It has a roughly half share in Smart with Mercedes. It has its own Zeekr. It can run all these and its other brand bets in tandem and reinforce the ones which work, especially where platforms are shared. Of the present stable the one which attracts me is Smart with reasonable prices, the best of Mercedes, and none of the worst of current Mercedes UI/UX.
    As to this car I do not like it because of the no button UI/UX. I do like what it has done about sustainability.

    Whilst I somehow always get a kick out of Thomas saying "4K, full screen, full Length, let's go", even that didn't sway me. 😊 Looks and features alone, I'm going with the Polestar 4. I also saw Jonny Smith's Late Brake Show review of it, and he was quite impressed by it. I like it because it's just that little bit different. Of course, no driving reviews yet.

    Volvo/Polestar really need to address their low rear seat bottoms. Not enough under-thigh support - even in their ICE cars, which I experienced in the XC40 and V60 CC. This has been a recurring theme from this manufacturer that is not good for taller people.

    no rear window is for cost cutting. compared to let's say Porsche Panamera ( a car that doesn't cut corners ) it eliminates the glass, the defroster, the rear window wiper, removable roll up cargo cover and the power rear sunshade. if you wanted to know how EV makers can afford to put expensive batteries in their cars - that's how. by cutting every corner possible.

    I watched the Throttle House review of the Cybertruck today and after seeing how useless the rear visibility was during a rainy night (basically half the year in NL), I am very put off by the idea of relying on cameras for that type of stuff. Looks like a really nice car otherwise but I'll be looking out the back 100000x more often than I'm carrying people

    Well the thing with camera rear view mirror is that if it rains hard (like in the PNW) it's gonna cover the entire camera with rain droplets and dirt, unlike traditional windshield you can just activate the wiper.

      I think since it’s high up on the roof, and has shielding, it should stay pretty clear. Not sure if it has a washing unit on it.

    I really like digital rear view mirrors. I think every vehicle should have it as standard equipment. For those that don't like it for all the reasons that they constantly complain about, no worries, just turn it off and make it a normal mirror. There's many times where it comes in handy. I use mine almost all the time. The lack of depth does take a little getting used to, but it definitely isn't horrible. It actually wouldn't be that difficult to make it more of a 3D image. Instead of one camera, use two for the binocular 3D vision and then have the screen with the ability to display that to provide the depth. If a normal one is standard on everything, then the 3D version can be an option.
    For this Polestar without the rear window, it would be nice if the mirror was a litte bigger. There's no reason why it needs to be the size of a normal rear view mirror. It can easily be bigger to provide a bigger screen to get a broader view of the surroundings behind you.

      This is not an accurate calculation, the car hasnt been driven but was used in the studio so it calculates rather AC use than driving kilometers

      Exactly. Especially sedans and suvs ususally have small and useless windows so high up you can only see the sky through them anyway. Now, for wagons it is different, especially older ones, but really most people dont have those

    Price wise, it is surely not in Macan league and surely not as cheap as Tesla Model Y Performance (its like 14k difference).
    It is more versus Fisker Ocean Extreme or Ford E-mach Mustang GT

      Model Y Performance in USD is currently $52,490, He said the polestar 4 as shown is $84,000...There's several other vehicles I'd currently purchase at that price point before the Polestar. I like it but it looks like a $45,000 vehicle

      @@Kailaniandkiara7165that’s fine, I think it looks way better than the model y, I’ve test driven the Polestar 2, and own a model 3, got to sit in a Polestar 3 when they had one at the local gallery, and Polestar absolutely blows Tesla away for how premium the interior is, and the Polestar 2 drove so much nicer than my 3. The 3/Y has the interior of like a $25k car, and the Y looks like a $35k car, which after tax credits, is about what it goes for, which is why it’s so popular. Polestar is in a class above Tesla. By a significant measure.

      You obviously havent talked to someone who sat in it. You loose no light because the glass roof extends further back than your head unlike other cars, and a window in a car like this is small and pretty unusable regardless.

    Recycled plastics in the interior is a very bad idea. With recycled, you have no control over the content of volatile chemicals, such as plastic softeners. These chemicals can act as endocrine disruptors or carcinogens. It's not very smart to have a tonload of materials like that in a small contained environment where you are poised to spend hours on end.

      @@theunown1912 The issue is much worse than bottles on hot summer day. At the very least, if you make your plastics from scratch, you know what you put in. You can make them food safe, at least in theory. But these recycled plastics contain unknown amounts of polymer additives, such as organohalogen compounds. That said, I have no issue with automakers using recycled plastics on the exterior; but to make a significant part of the interior out of this material is pure madness.

    Will it last? - The days of treating cars, and all other manufactured objects, as throwaway products needs to come to an end.
    To me, it is important to make cars that last longer and that people want to keep for 25 to 50 years. Building cars is very energy demanding. Safe, desirable cars with a long use lifespan would go a long way toward reducing pollution.

    The Porsche Macan EV looks and is lightyears ahead of this in terms of interior design and technolgy. Sure it is more expensive, too, but it is a Porsche tho.
    At least this Polestar is better than a Tesla Model Y, but that is becoming easier by the day. Is that the strategy of Polestar? To offer more than Tesla but less than actual premium brands? And the price is located somewhere in the middle as well
