    Eh, the lack of a rear glass doesn’t bother me as much as some. You can order a work van with no windows… I’ve driven a few Chevy Express vans with only the windshield and door glass. It takes some getting used to but it’s not a big deal. You just use your side mirrors.

    Since you asked in the video, I don’t think the Polestar 4 needs a rear windshield. I can hardly see anything in the back of my Model X anyway. I mostly look at the rear view camera. The wide angle of the camera view is great.

    Pretty sleek. Couped CUVs normally look hideously bloated and raised but not so here. Ground clearance doesn't look exaggerated and Romans' height almost makes it look like a proper Sedan or liftback 😂. I think the Polestar2 would be improved with some of this updated styling.
    Still waiting for something to capture the same essence as the Polestar1 tho.

    The whole reason these center screens have taken over is because it's cheaper to code the controls and have them run through the screen vs. actually mass producing buttons, switches, etc. I get it, there's so many features on modern cars, it makes sense to incorporate them into a single unit. But, losing the buttons to control the most used features is a definite downside.

    • @NinaJerry
      @NinaJerry 19 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      While cost is definitely a factor, some brands (like Tesla) also do it for design reasons. You could say the same thing about the home, back and forward button on smartphones.

    • @jaymelton2663
      @jaymelton2663 19 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      @@NinaJerry I completely disagree - Tesla made the decision from a cost perspective and then designed around it. Tesla is notorious for cost-cutting and relatively cheap build quality. And, the difference between smart phones and cars is that your smart phone doesn't weigh 5000lbs and go 75mph while your trying to navigate in it.

    • @craigm2
      @craigm2 19 วันที่ผ่านมา

      I never bought this argument - wiring looms to every corner, electronic actuators replacing dumb switches, months of programming to open a glovebox - how can this possibly be cheaper?

    • @jaymelton2663
      @jaymelton2663 19 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      @@craigm2 Because you manufacture ONE screen, and then program it to your needs. And, you can buy these screens from other manufacturers who already have the tooling done, etc. If you make a switch, you have to build the tooling for that switch. And every other switch or button you make. And then you get to do that again with any interior redesign, etc - that's where the cost comes in. The wiring would be there anyway. This is also why the F150 was such a cash cow for Ford back in the day, it'd been on the market so long the tooling costs were long paid for, once that was done their profits soared on them.

    The back not having glass is really not that big a deal actually. I have a 2023 palisade and it has the camera rear view mirror and in the year and a half that I’ve had it I have never looked back out that window 1 time. And yes I know it can get damaged or break on you and not work but then you also have the backup camera which is a different camera then the rear view mirror so chances of both breaking at the same time I just don’t think it will happen and then you should always have a good view. 🤷‍♂️

    P2 and C40 to a worse extent have practically no rear view anyway. No wiper either. Owning that and adding a camera mirror by default is a natural evolution. Arguably a safer solution if they insist on such limited rear glass anyway.

      No. It's Swedish. Geely Holding is a parent company like VW is a parent company but Polestar is its own brand that is heavily based in Sweden. The teams of people that are responsible for Polestars are mostly Europeans based in Sweden. Even the car it is heavily based on, the Zeekr001, contrary to what most people believe, is designed by European teams in Sweden, not China. The SEA platform's head engineer is an ex-Saab engineer from Sweden. There is some Chinese electronics in it and battery, but that's true of a lot of Western BEVs.

Their just simply priced too high, and with EV values falling through the floor, this loaded out $70k ev will be a $50k vehicle the moment it drives off the lot. even used EV prices are cratering. buy one of these in 2 years when you can get one for $35k coming off of a lease return.
