I am a mum of two. A Personal Trainer in a gym with being the only Female trainer as compared to my 10 male trainer colleagues. Winner of a Squat challenge , competing with 20 guys. I am proud of myself I chose this path. My children know the importance of good health. Ladies please hit the gym , you will realise importance of weight training only when you grow old. And you will look back and thank yourself . Good luck Ladies.

Indian female here, I have been weight training for the past 3years now. I am a thin person with muscles in places where I want them to be, when Indian people look at me, they think I am weak and comment on how I should be eating properly (by their proper eating they mean I should stuff my myself with pakoras and curry). In reality though when we were moving houses I was lifting all our 55 heavy boxes from one room to the other (each boxes weighed around 25-35kgs approx some boxes were more than this). Speaking from experience, weight training makes you stronger and burns fat even when you are not training. However you can outrun a bad diet, you gotta control that.
Additionally I am also a runner and play hockey. It helps with these two too. Thanks Ranveer for this talk. India needs to get over the whole 'girls' weight training stigma.

Congratulations, I believe woman who want to do muscle training, does not only have to surpass their own mental resistance to "doing something uncomfortable" but also, the societal judgement that you are doing something you should not. It's an uphill battle, so again congratulations on your strong mind, the most important "muscle" :)

I accidentally clicked on this video, i guess I should really really thank my luck. Every single word holds so true in a woman's day to day life. I was doing functional training for past couple of years and then stopped it completely after I marriage, which has resulted in mood swings, incompleteness and lack of discipline. after watching this video , i so wanna wear my track pants and hit the gym, right away.
    thank you !!!

Suhasini Kamlam that's not good at all. i got married some months ago and had to stop training midst moving and all the indian wedding drama but i started losing my confidence very fast and now I'm back on track. my body might not have changed much but my mind did.

So I've been going to MMA classes and it's only been a month or so, and I'm the only woman there. In the span of just one month I noticed changes in me. I was suffering from severe brain fog and overthinking, I couldn't look someone in the eye and talk to them. I had several issues; but I slowly realised the importance of discipline and started getting my act together. I started feeling better mentally and I'm still going on. I can't wait to see my final transformation. This video was very informative btw, I'll include more protein and iron. Thanks a lot ranveer

I am a 46 year old woman and started weight training 2 years back. I haven't been fitter in my life. I had the same incorrect notion that if I lift weights I will bulk up - that is such a myth. Haven't tried protein shakes yet but may try that too. However, I have not given up on my chocolates or other desserts as I have a sweet tooth. Yes a balanced diet is a must but if you have a good exercise regime, one doesn't need to give up on desserts but don't gorge on them :)

I have been listening to you for quite a long time and you have started amazing me 😘. This video was outstanding much needed for indian women. Even i used to play basketball in my school days as I started my college life i left almost all the physical activities that i used to do and then i always wondered what has happened to me I have become lazy other than that i have seen my will power go down my ambitions go down and i found myself on a tract which lead me to complete destruction of my life. But now as i have understood the importance of physical fitness I am trying my best to become more fit day by day. Thank you soo much for this video ❤️. And a simple thing i wanted to add "In a healthy body resides a healthy mind" even toppers need to be fit these days to top.

Thank you so much for this Ranveer! This is so inspiring. I agree with everything you said. I’ve been on and off fitness a lot these past 3 years. But I’ve noticed a definite change in my life. Working out (including strength training) has made me a lot happier in general, got me out of depression, and has taught me to set boundaries for things that aren’t good for me. I try to encourage everyone who’s close to me to start working out. And I’m so glad you’re reaching out to thousands of people who really need to learn all of this.

I would like a day when a woman is giving this talk. Someone who has actually been through it, for example, his mother would have been a better speaker and could have resonated with a wider audience.

    Hi
I don't know you but randomly your video played on my screen.
I'm so glad that you hear me.
I'm a mum of 3 grown up kids and I need help for myself.
I'm not getting what I'm looking for.
Your Tedx talk gave me hope, just knowing that someone can understand my pain and finally help me.
How can I get in touch with you.
    Please I need help
    Please darling.
You helped your mum there's another mum calling for help.
Looking forward to hear from you

It is astonishing how he is a mirror image of Alia Bhatt; not just in looks but also in mannerisms.

Completely agree with you! I am a 21 year old been going to the gym for about a year and a half and i love the benefits i am seeing. I probably havent acheived my fitness goals yet however the mental peace that comes with weight training and regular exercise is totally worth that one and a half hour i put in the gym. Also when you spoke about carbs being the center of an indian diet i could completely resonate as my family loves to eat a lot of carbs however i try my best to refrain and stick to my proteins. Cheers to @beerbiceps for this amazing talk! Much love :)
