Correction: Sunrise considers the movies/shows canon. I wrongly assumed that since the manga was non canon and the vibe is so out there that it wasn't. Regardless, I hope you guys can enjoy the rest of the video. I'll try to correct such mistakes earlier in the process down the line and I'm sorry for spreading misinformation.
the POV fight in the Zaku is really, for me, the first time you get to see/feel how scary a UC Gundam is compared to it's counterparts. Like, imagine the original series doing a scene like that, just to hammer home how outclassed a Zaku is.
One unique thing of Gundam Thunderbolt is how they potray the Gundam pilot is more villainous while the Zaku pilot more heroic, at least during the 1st season.
If you can find the Thunderbolt manga, the story gets even better, so much character development and battles have forged both Io and Daryl so much that at the near end, both characters are nearly unrecognizable, Thunderbolt is one of the best manga from Gundam and it deserves a series of its own
You just reminded me that Thunderbolt: December Sky might be my 2nd most watched movie (behind Goodfellas). 2016-2017 was such a good time for movies and music.
After seeing this def going to give this series a try. Love your Gundam videos as I’m just now getting into the franchise and hoping you cover any of the seasons I’ve seen makes me want to come back and watch more of your stuff.
I am absolutely with you on Season 2. The problem is that it's such a "chapter 2" season that's building up a greater narrative... that we probably won't see until the Hathaway movies are done in production. At least. It's not *bad* per se, but it's set up and no pay off. It just kinda... stops. Season 1 works because it's its own self contained story. You can show someone who's never watched a Gundam show Season 1 and they'll understand everything they need to know. That's why whenever I recommend Thunderbolt to anyone, I always tell them to just stick to Season 1.
Loves Thunderbolt man. The machines... The story... JAZZ! Strange you mentioned it was better than Narrative... That's because the guys who worked on Gundam Unicorn worked on Thunderbolt!
Imagine if we could get the guys who did gundam the origin and thunderbolt to team up and remaster mobile suit gundam (the original) that would be like a religious experience for gundam fans lol.
Ya like Jazz? Now if only they could animate the rest of the manga so we could see Daryl's abomination of a MS - his high-mo Zaku with the parts of Fleming's busted Gundam from season 1, and the insanity going forward that the series has
the fact that Thunderbolt considered as non-canon is bothering me so much. i know Bandai/Sunrise consider the 2 movie canon (maybe that's also why they afraid to continue adapting the story), but even the Author himself said they want to separate themself with UC so they can tell the story without any constraint. i get what they meant, but man it's a shame because they borrow so much from UC, and i'm big with continuity. but other than that, i love Thunderbolt especially the first movie/series. they really convey so much emotion with little dialoge. so much left unsaid, with so much brutality shown. the second one not so much, and i agree with you. it lacks in plot, they really drag the whole cult thing like what are they smoking when they're writing the story. P.S : i know i sad i will watch every video you released but i haven't watch Fafner, Votoms, or even Gundam Victory so imma save it for later. love your video, cheers!
After reading the manga, i would say season 2 is the perfect setup for season 3. I think the manga has also progressed far enough for them to have a season 4.
You should take a look at the anime ova 'Break blade', the 6 episode movie version. It is a sci-fi mecha with a slight fantasy element; in how they power the mechs. The mechs feel like knights in armour.
S1 was good but S2 is overwhelmingly average, they keep making the same mistakes mainline UC did with focusing too much on Newtype aspect Also would like to hear yer thoughts on Blue Gender Brigadoon Marin To Melan GunXSword The Big O Gunbuster Patlabor OVA Yukikaze Gasaraki
i do think you were harsh on thunderbolt 2... it depicts the religion as an option to war, all the monks and the monk dude at the end as the savior of all, it develops sooooo well after the movie in the manga, i highly recommend you to read it all, it was hard to find but worth the search currently translated 165 caps, if you want i can bring you the internet sauce to it
That's fair, I think the more fundamental issue I should have focused on is that for the anime it hasn't led to anything for years. Leaving the second thunderbolt in an awkward position compared to the first, which worked so well on its own. My reviews are not highly scripted out of an effort to reflect my more genuine opinion. So I appreciate understanding on some discrepancies. As for the manga, I appreciate the offer but I can find it. Thanks for the criticism and thanks for hearing me out anyway, I appreciate it. 😄
Being canon doesn't mean it's the same UC. Canonicity in gundam just means that whatever is animated is always considered true and any developments in side stories are considered apocryphal unless they, too, are animated
I'd like to disagree with what you said about the south seas alliance. They're actually humanized pretty well as a group that mostly consists of disenfranchised veterans and overall victims of the one year war who've been roped into the newtype cult they serve under due to how vulnerable they are as result of the pain they've endured. Also, a lot of the stuff that delves deeper into them as a faction and the beliefs of their leader come after the events of the second season, which haven't been adapted yet.
As an example, the "zeon remnants" Io fights against in the first half of the season are actually SSA members, which they give clues for very early on.
@@NopeMechs oh, i wasn't correcting you out on the zeon remnant stuff, i just wanted to point out the guys fighting against the spartan crew were cultists, no worries.

Thunderbolt is actually Canon. The novel is an alternate timeline.
Sunrise/bandai: anything animated is canon...
Jazz and Gundam!? Perfect combo

Or at least, untill the ending of the first season
I think Twilight Axis tried doing that so well. But the story is meh.

Playing both PsychoZaku and Full Armor in that Ps4 game Maxi On while listening to the jazz bgm is pure ectasy

I'm really glad you enjoy my videos. I'll try to get to more main seasons soon. Getting closer to being done with UC!

Glad you enjoyed thunderbolt, the ost has such a fantastic vibe, sometimes i just put the ost whenever I read the manga.
There could be another Thunderbolt anime adaptation in the future as the manga it's based on is still on going.
Those Anehime Big Zam are terrifying
The OSTs they got are FIRE!!1!1🔥🔥🔥
Totally agreed, the first season/movie is basically masterpiece tier. 2nd is eh.. I wonder if they'll ever make 3rd part?
Also nice, Astebreed.
Loves Thunderbolt man. The machines... The story... JAZZ!
Strange you mentioned it was better than Narrative... That's because the guys who worked on Gundam Unicorn worked on Thunderbolt!
I would love to see your thoughts of 08 MS Team, one of my favs in the UC timeline!
The first minute of your Video gave me Goosebumps, espiacially the Music
This is the first ova that got me to pick up the manga cause so wanted to know more about it. The manga is a good read.
As i guy with mobility disability but will be getting a below knee amputation that was totally preventable yea Io was a crap talker but.
Yeah ❤

great video on gundam TB, i hope to see more of your thoughts on other shows!
Gonna do the origin soon!
I hope the rest of Thunderbolt gets animated
A shame about the second season not being as good cause I actually really like the idea of a newtype cult
After reading the manga, i would say season 2 is the perfect setup for season 3. I think the manga has also progressed far enough for them to have a season 4.
I always try to show people new to the Gundam series thunderbolt. I don’t think I’d ever start with the original.
Full Armor Gundam Thunderbolt is far my favorite Gundam variants from OYW along with Mudrock Gundam and Slave Wraith.
I think you’d enjoy 08th MS team if you haven’t seen it yet.
What's the game you're playing in the outro?
Astebreed Definitive Edition. It's a pretty short arcade like bullet hell with Gundam esque lore. Kinda fun but get it on sale if you can.

Blue Gender
Brigadoon Marin To Melan
GunXSword
The Big O
Gunbuster
Patlabor OVA
Yukikaze
Gasaraki

It’s too bad that we never got more seasons and gunpla out of this series.
Quick question, where can I watch season 2? I NEEDS it.
fun fact thunder bolt anime halt at ss2 cause the author is sick but he good now so SS3 when?
I just dont understand why Sunrise is making more One year war stuff... Can we get more G Saviour period?!?!?
Thunderbolt anime is considered anime canon while the manga/novel is alt.
Please do talk about gundam witch of the mercury when you get a chance

This is good info on SSA; I admittedly am not far into the manga yet. I'd like to clarify when I said Zeon remnant I was referring to Daryl's gang.
@@NopeMechs oh, i wasn't correcting you out on the zeon remnant stuff, i just wanted to point out the guys fighting against the spartan crew were cultists, no worries.
what is the song in the background of the intro ?
From the Ace Attorney album "Turnabout Jazz Soul" the song is Godot - The Fragrance of Dark Coffee
dont call daryl beta or else imma get you boah..
Man I wish Bandai gave more love to thunderbolt idc shut up and take my money make into a p Bandai if you have to!
I like the music. Reminds me of Cowboy Bo Peep & Rocksteady.
