Fun Fact: This manga also canonizes (as long as we're viewing everything in it as canon) a ton of side story units like the Blue Destiny and Pale Rider (and mentions the Augusta NT Lab, which was shown to have a GM Quel in NT, which means we're a step closer to canonizing AoZ) and even mentions the Hi-Nu, a unit that, until now, existed in a completely separate continuity.

Eeeeeh. Seems unrealistic and childish. Where is the buildup of propaganda that dehumanizes the other side and escalation. They just go straight to full on genocide and babies in blenders.

I hate the Thunderbolt and now Red Giant trend of: Take an MS and slam 6 extra weapons and 3 shields on it and pretend it would function and looks cool. It is illogical in canon and perhaps worse lazy design IRL. Especially when you look at the odd but often well thought ideas in the original MSV book. There are so many units that almost never get screen time but were canonically built and deployed. I think a great Gundam series would be an "operation paper clip" type event about Zeon engineers being abducted and bribed by some precursor to the Titians. Forced to design new suits like the Hi-Zack and cyber new types and test them against their former allies. All while witnessing extrajudicial forced labor and executions.

The Strangest gundam manga for me is Despair Memory Gundam Sequel. The Newtype have evolved they have power like regeneration of lose body part.

Fun Fact, Front Mission is basically only known in the west because after the cultural phenomenon that was FFVII, EA wanted some of that sweet, sweet, Final Fantasy money for themselves and set out to strike a deal for the US publishing rights to Final Fantasy VIII. As part of the deal to get FFVIII Square made EA publish a few other games as well, Brave Fencer Musashi, Parasite Eve, and Front Mission 3.

Too bad you cant buy a manga book that’s isn’t Japanese or French it’s total bullshit that such a good manga isn’t available for English readers except through translation websites which arnt bad but not the same as holding the booking and reading it

Glad someone finally made a review that explains the good parts of the show. Part of the reason the suits feel weak defensively was explained somewhere, possible F91? To put it simply, beam technology outpaced armor, so it because pointless to make big and heavily armored suits, so the suits were made smaller, lighter, and faster, eventually light enough to fly in atmosphere.

when i was reading this manga i couldn't shake this feeling that it feels eerely similar to Gundam Thunderbolt, even though the story and setting is completely different. now it all makes sense once you mentioned the author is the same person

i do think you were harsh on thunderbolt 2... it depicts the religion as an option to war, all the monks and the monk dude at the end as the savior of all, it develops sooooo well after the movie in the manga, i highly recommend you to read it all, it was hard to find but worth the search currently translated 165 caps, if you want i can bring you the internet sauce to it

"Dog Life & Dog Style" has a special place in my heart, unfortunately related to my IRL experience that changed everything for me. First time reading this manga, I met it as a good written, but a sci-fiction. Because these kinds of conflicts are not possible anymore in our world, we have an “End of History” and all of that. Little did I know, that this manga was a prediction for me. A year later, my mother proposed me to go hang out with my sister in Prague a bit, as she was going to leave us back for her studies up there. I declined as I only got 2 mouths ago job of my dreams - game designer, and didn't want to take any vacations this early, plus that would be strange a bit. 2 days later after she left I regretted my decision. Approximately 10 days later, after she left, I was going to buy drinkable water for family not far from our place. Crazy enough to myself, during that walk I find myself very related to Indusuka from manga, because I was hearing the second beautiful thing, that I ever heard in my life. (First one was the singing of an orthodox priest, when my grandmother was dying of Cancer). It was a symphony of the Russian and Ukrainian artillery and machine gun fire slowly approaching the city where I lived - Kiev, capital city of Ukraine. Their approach was clear - every 2-3 days during mine food/water resupplying routine I clearly was hearing as the front was getting closer and closer, to the city. At some point, I even was able to identify different kinds of artillery systems that worked out there. Hearing this was comparable to a sex, you will never understand all mighty of heavy weaponry till you hear it for yourself, even from a far. At that moment, enjoying approaching sounds of a death, I said to myself: “Not a sci-fiction anymore, huh?” Crazy time we're living in. P.S. Please do not try to discuss politics here, it will not change everything and only make me cringe a lot. Especially if you heard about Ukraine first time in your life after 24.02.2022. I just wanted to share my experience. P.S.S. Thx to NopeMechs a lot for your content, your videos helping me a lot during developing of mine TTRPG “Broken Lances” based on Mecha Hack and inspired by Front Mission & Gundam & Metal Gear Solid.
