I've had my 2023 X3 30xi for a year now. The first week there was a software issue and the dealer quickly took care of reprogramming it. Since then, zero issues, and zero complaints about power, mileage, luxury, utility, infotainment, connectivity, or build quality. It's literally been the perfect vehicle which I wasn't expecting. If I had to gripe about something, I wish the backup camera was not always exposed. My previous car the backup camera popped out of the trunk lid.
BMW X5 F15 3.0 diesel / ten years old and bought new. I'm located in Belgium btw. It's a pleasure to drive, never a mechanical problem. Never. Maintenance every 10 000 miles / 15 000 km at an official BMW dealer. Maintenance and treat it with love.
I have a 2023 X3 30xi for a year and a half now. Besides running over a nail and had to get new tire and a realignment, everything is great, with no problem. I enjoy how it rides, its performance and luxurious amenities, and love the exterior design. We love it, and considering getting another one for our daughter who’s just finished first year of college.
I was leaning towards a Genesis GV70. As I keep researching I discovered these X3 automobiles are pretty cool. I am doing all I can to avoid a mild hybrid engine. The Genesis GV70 and GV80, both Porsche SUV’s, and the 2.0 liter X3 all come in a regular I.C.E. non mild hybrid version. I love German cars anyway so now the X3 looks to be my new top choice. Thanks for the video and all the comments.
@user-fjsrt The Genesis may very well be overpriced. It has good reviews, lots of shiny stuff and good power. I just couldn’t commit, and so glad I didn’t. Just took delivery of an X3 SDrive30i MSport package, Brooklyn Grey with gloss black 20” wheels, gloss black grill, a spare tire and a few other options. It was built and delivered in less than 4 weeks.
I favor the pre facelift look, too. Over here in Europe there are diesel versions available. I chose the 20d for my 2019 X3 and fine with it. If towing a trailer were a need, the 6cyl 30d maybe would be the better choice. Wouldn´t want a car this size motorized for sportive driving purposes. Before thinking of 40d/40i I´d first think of a smaller X1M or better something like a M2.
Volvo xc60 wasn't mentioned or compared. It has a very smooth and composed ride with good room in the 2nd row and trunk, supposedly much more quality interior than the x3.
@Downshift At the 7:09 mark you noted the "Halo Energy Sword tail lights". You are so right on. Just ordered an X3 M40d here in Europe... M40i is using way more gas than the diesel version uses petrol, that's the main reason. Even more than I'm pulling trailers around 1.2ton half week. And you're right, we have here the hybrid versions available, and full EV too. I have no probs with EV when possible regarding people personnal use of their car. But hybrid seems really restrictive in the use, do you agree that they are just good for people using their car on at least 80% of short drives? As when the batterie is empty it takes as much gasoline as you would be pulling a small trailers all the time due to the extra weight? I like to watch videos from overseas to get other point of view than all the time european guys 👍 thanks for your videos!
Canada is in North America and gets the mild hybrid and plug-in hybrid. Not sure why the US gets overlooked here (this isn't the only case where European makes don't ship you every model), but it isn't because they don't come to North America.

I like the xc60 a lot better. I did get an X3 however based on price and availability. It is ok, but the run flat tires are absolutely miserable and no spare tire. And too many plastic components in the engine compartment . Ugh. I like it but realize it is not very durable and won’t last.
Just gone from an MB AMG 5.5 n/a to an M40i, loved the MB but the dealerships and support are terrible where I live, and thats the main reason for discounting the GLC43 - although after having driven both the M40i was superior in ALL aspects over the MB imo. Coming from several MBs and VWs to my first BMW, I would say the BMW is second to VW on quality, MB is 3rd. Hard to believe that the M40i is better all round than my MB AMG, performance, economy, but it is.
As someone who works at a dealership. We have a 2022 GLC and I just picked up brand new 2024 X3 M40i. The GLC, has cheap interior parts and no storage. The screen is beautiful and not too difficult to use. The space is bigger than X3, and seats more comfortable. The driving dynamics is significantly better in the X3.

I’ve had my ‘23 X3 M40i for 3 months, and it’s fully loaded. I so satisfied and would never consider anything else but the Macan or Tiguan.
Why tiguan?

It is between the X3 and the Lexus NX for me. They are both very good and excel in different areas.

Diesel rocks. American bureaucracy hates diesel’s.
Stiffer ride = Run Flat tires. Related maybe? Replace those awful original equipment tires. The car will ride better.

In Egypt the X3 is cheaper than the GLC by 25%
X3 M40i of course! and btw it was good review :)
What about reliability. Would this be a good purchase or a series of frustrations followed by an empty wallet.
Shouldn’t have problems for at least 5 years but after that it’s anyone’s guess. Resale value is notoriously bad for all German cars for that reason
Yes, just keep it through the warranty then trade it in. It’ll be reliable for that period and even beyond.
Nice review! It would be good to see your face though. Take off the sunglasses!
I imagine an American Nico Hulkenberg doing the review
you forget the VOLVO CX 60 T8 Black edition. It's prettier, cheaper, more powerful, and more economical,. 455 hp and 710 torque...

Number one worst thing is they won't put the V8 in it
Too much plasticity feel. Very disappointing with all the shiny cheap plastic in a premium car. So surprised
