I have a D40 Dci manual 2wd. The engine shakes and shakes. The vibration seems to stem from gearbox. I changed engine and gearbox mountings but it still persists. Now the gear shifts are rough sometimes clutch not engaging. Please help!
I have nissan navara 2024, 2.5 my car after driving small distance I loose power sometimes to 80km/h on a stop. I have change clutch, diseal filter n solontor is the same
My macanic put new flywheel and clutch. The fly wheel was LUK but clutch was other brand . They both new but my new flywheel kill again the center teeth of my new unknown clutch. Do you think I should have bought same Luk brand on the clutch also. Becoz is difficult to get Luk clutch in South Africa. Or what do you think went wrong to this.
er, what about loctite on the flywheel bolts? and why dont you press in the clutch bearing carrier with the vise, nice and easy, instead if hitting the poor new bearing with a big hammer!
Ha ha I’m doing my first one Iv definitely learning here lol I’m told don’t bang it even the clips can snap released bearing remove fit new with grease check teeth doing this is not just quick save money help job just a small mistake is dangerous I’m still learning
Hi mate, I'm trying to change the clutch on my Mazda MX5. When I put the pressure plate up to the flywheel without the friction disc in it seems to fit flush on, but when I put the friction disc in it doesn't fit flush. Is it just the case of it needing bolting down? I just don't want to break anything.
Is that a DMF ? If yes then how come is so lose? You could easily rotated the smooth face plate w.r.t. the toothed wheel . The spring between both parts of DMF isnt so loose . And also i can see the clutch plate with springs !! How come? My luk DMF kit doesn't have a spring clutch plate. Its solid. Amd other flywheels that are SMF do have spring clutch plate. Can you please explain
How you doing I did my clutch swap motors everything about 10 months later a whistling sound it wasn't to throw up bearing when we took it apart to clutch inside the clutch on the spline was all worn out now the bearing in the input shaft is tight it's not that I'm thinking it's the flywheel is shot I think they're like a flexfly wheel or maybe when they put the flywheel on the first time it was wrong but all I know is a tunnels out in the center teeth with the input shaft goes what do you think happened please
I know some people have been doing SMF conversions from dual mass flywheels in navara manuals to try and get a longer life out of them, I'll need to do mine soon but I thought I'd rather just get a heavy duty clutch and stick with a DMF because I thought that going from DMF to SMF meant you got a lot more vibration? Have you had any experiences with any side effects of doing a single mass flywheel conversion on these motors? Cheers, jamie
Just a bit of input from someone who has put an Exeedy heavy duty clutch with SMF conversion into a 2010 D40 Thai model. I have zero vibrations, whether it be while taking off or cruising, and the clutch feel is just so much nicer. I would never go back to a dual mass now that I've felt the single mass. Admittedly I was worried about putting the SMF in after hearing some scary stories so I called Exeedy directly and spoke to one of their technicians down in Melbourne and he reassured me that i'd be happier with the reliability of the SMF. Needless to say I was very pleased with my purchase! Just something to keep in mind made!
I have seen it both ways, but Exeedy make really high quality parts so I have no reason to doubt you. But I have Audis and vws that just would not run well with a solid flywheel, and to be fair the science behind it is good, because a lot of drivers tend to treat the clutch like an on/off switch.
Des just uses the gun to speed up threading the bolts on, and snugs them up, and then he will go back over all the bolts, with a proper hand torque wrench, to get an accurate, proper torque, on the all the bolts.
Thanks for the vids, really helpful. My 08 Nav needs a new clutch. It was replaced by the previous owner and ever since has gently popped out of 5th when you come off the power. Any idea of whats gone on there? Also what would you suggest in terms of clutch/fly wheel set up? I regularly drag heavy stuff about for work so wants to be as heavy duty as possible. Ta
Hi guys. I need some advice. I replaced my clutch master cylinder kit a month ago. New clutch & pressure plate in April this year. Today I took off up a hill 1st gear, got onto flat road, can't get 2nd gear. Switched t van off. Tried adjusting pin by clutch pedal, bleeded t master & slave cylinder. Van goes into gear, but won't slow down when clutch is pressed down. I put a new master & slave cylinder. Bleeded! Van is only selecting 1 - 3 - 5 Not selecting 2 - 4 - R What could be the reason for not selecting 2 - 4 - R?
hello i live in the us and dont really have a way to call. i have a few questions about a 2017 manual nissan versa. is there an email or another way to contact for any questions i may have?
That is a dual mass in the vid. Its easy to spot the difference in this one (if you know what to look for) in that you can see the front (trans side) part of the flywheel wiggles independent of the engine side (the part with the teeth for the starter). I’d say that the one he’s installing is worn out given how much play there is in it. If you search YT for “dual mass flywheel” there is a short video where the guy is showing the difference between a worn out DMFW and a new one (hint: the play we see in this video is the tell-tale of worn out). Hope that helps.
heya im deaf n my partner liam who is deaf too my partner 's nissan pathfinder problem steering wheel like driving go but hard rough n leaking oil n loudly noise n smoke back. i want to know and need information this is problem we did fixed it they said jeep is broken n wont go working i watched your video its brillant!! we are here dublin ireland thank you and let me know if u wil look at it n check his jeep
watching these videos for a while now and there are some poor mechanical skills at certain areas- assembled the friction plate BACKWARDS with gearbox side against the Flywheel, not leading the threads by hand, did not measure if flywheel is within specs did not talk about it either, smacking the bearing like that, did not explain what to look for on the pressure plate since its a self regulating pressure plate and there are some things to be said about it (hint- the small yellow springs), using hammer and dropping things doesn't mean you are good, my 2 cents as a certified Schaeffler mechanic. If you don't know who Schaeffler is then it's worse than it seems.
The friction plate on these can only be fitted one way round. The protruding side is too large to fit inside the recessed part of the flywheel so fitting backwards is impossible....Agree with the rest of the points you have raised though.
Agreed. Real shoddy workmanship. Just smacking things in, not aligning bolts properly and forcing them in. The list goes on. One of the worst ways to press a bearing on. In the end he should have said and that's NOT how to do it
You guys are a pigs to work, that dual flywheel plate has a lot of play and the way you removed the release bearing is not the right way to do it, and using power tools to fasten crank bolts. Damn 😐
Customer, why when my foot is on the clutch is there grinding noises and my foot is vibrating, workshop, I don’t know I definitely didn’t bash any bearings with a hammer 🤷♂️
You are spot on except for one thing - you aren’t supposed to resurface dual-mass flywheels. This one is completely shot given the amount of play. Probably didn’t replace it because they are ridiculously expensive.
Thank you very much for the video very educational and helpful 🎉
Knocking that bearing out and smacking the new one in will give me nightmares, yeeeeeeeeha cowboy

When fitting the fly wheel would it be the same for a d22 TD2.7

What u do if your flywheel doesn’t have an arrow

Long term it puts strain upon the bearings within the gearbox so i would stick with the duel mass. Cheers Jamie
Not to mention the engines seem to run rougher, with vibration in the cabin when you fit a solid conversion.
Well said

You said don't use impact gun on flywheel bolts??

Painful to watch.

What could be the reason for not selecting 2 - 4 - R?
You should have shown cleaning the mating face on the back of the flywheel, you may have cleaned it, but some people may not understand the necessity.
Is that 113nm or 130 for the T55 flywheel bolts?

A new clutch assembly on a used flywheel with high spots is a disaster.....

Use hydraulic press next time
You ain't teaching me nothing no more with a goddamn hammer

WRONG SIDE OF CLUTCH ALSO GETRIEBSEITE ON THE FLYWHEEL ....

This must be Yorkshire only, I don't understand a fucking word :O)

my lord
thats nasty clutch job, no flywheel resurce no cleannig
This video should be removed
Hitting a bearing ! You my friend are not a mechanics arse hole.
😳
You could have at least turn the damn flywheel damn what a wasted job.
