Bought a used hot tub got it home, got the electric service connected, filled it up, switched it on and nothing! The breaker tripped and nothing happened. Found this video, followed the troubleshooting steps and discovered that the heater was bad. $79 for a new heating element and less than an hour of work following the video instructions and my hot tub fired right up. This video literally saved me hundreds of dollars! Thank you, thank you, thank you!
Your video was , by far, the best video I have ever used! Very direct, to the point, nicely filmed, no corny jokes or comments, no screaming kids or distracting background noises, and IT SOLVED MY PROBLEM! Your video would make a great "how to make a TH-cam video" video! Thank you VERY much! You Da Spa Guy!
Thanks for an explanation of why the GFCI trips as the hot tub ages. My circuit board had problems, too, so I just replaced everything for half of what my local store wanted. This video helped me to decide to call a parts distributor who sent me exactly what I needed and let me bypass the local guys who overcharge for simple service calls and for the same part I was able to install myself. Four years back I bought the "demo spa" model to try to save money, so I should have expected to have the problems that come with wear-and-tear of a slightly used spa. Your video and others saved me enough cash by using skills demonstrated and products from internet sales, so the rebuilt unit I have now is almost like new and is also easily repairable - now that I've been though the experience once. Your DIY video is a godsend for savvy handymen who enjoy solving new fairly simple problems while saving money. Thanks again.
After going without the use of our hot tub since February because the heating element went out, we finally repaired it ourselves following your video. Though we didn't have the electric test kit we could tell the element was bad because of the rust around one of the terminals. Great Video. Thanks a lot! Saved us a lot of money. Our hot tub is 13 years old and nobody wanted to work on it. Found parts easily enough. Stephanie
That’s my problem. My hot tub is older and I don’t like the newer ones. I like mine but yes people do not want to worry w older models. Last guy swore he couldn’t find the parts on line because the Morgan spa was an older model. I think I bought it in 2005
Great Job spaguy! You are really helping people that habe to figure out these issues and dont always have the $$ to just call your local spa guy out. So really, thank you.
What a great video! It took me longer to take off the tub cover and the electronics cover than it did to figure out that the heater was bad. Now the next step while I wait for the parts to arrive is to see if my slice valves actually work but if they don't it's outside so I get to water my brown grass! :) Thanks so much for a clear and straight to the point video!
I just want to thank you for posting this. My breaker was tripping and I assumed I needed a new pump. It was the heating element, wayyyyy cheaper. You guys are awesome, thanks a million!
Thanks so much for the video !! I found one of the heater electrodes leaking and then noticed the wire lead had melted . I just had the heater element changed...guess the repair guy didn't do a good job installing it. We went and bought a new spa since this one is 15 yrs. old. Was going to trash this one but will keep it now and use it at our home, the new one goes to our rental cabin. Just needs a new wire lead and element sealed with silicone....
My GFCI plug has been randomly tripping for years. I thought it was a burned out ozonator, which I replaced. That seemed like it fixed it for a bit but the problem continued. I watched this video and realized I had a leak on one of the heating element contacts. Replaced it for $30 and the tub works great now. Thanks
This helped me find the problem with my tub which was the heating element and then i ordered a new element from them and received it in 2 days with free shipping unbelievably fast thanks one of my favorite channels on you tube many thanks.
I live in the great white north and found that my GFI kept tripping when powering on. Tried troubleshooting pumps, lights, heaters etc. with no definite issue. I ended up looking at the GFI breaker panel and found that it was packed with wind blown snow. I cleaned it up, dried everything up and SUCESS! Check to see if you have moisture in your GFI panel as well. 👍
...wasn't sure if it was the heater or not tripping the breaker, because the spa would run for hours and then trip. So I disconnected the heater element from the board, and let it run for 2 weeks. Breaker never tripped again, so I ordered the part and will replace it today. Thanks for the video!
thanks for the details on getting my tub back running again! installed a titanium heater instead of the alloy one as recommended. my old heater didn't show any signs of corrosion on the posts, but tripped the breaker whenever it would want to heat. cheers!
Thanks for this great video. I used silicone grease for brake pad caliper pins when installing the O-ring. I love fixing things especially when I really don't know what I'm doing. You tube always helps me figure it out.
I want to sincerely thank you for your video showing me how to replace a balboa heater element. My breaker was tripped and spa dead. It is 12 years old so time to get a new one right? From another TH-cam video I diagnosed bad heater and followed your directions. Had my first hot tub soak last week. Great job SPAGUY!
Very thorough video. Thank you for taking the time to make it. I changed out my pump seal and after reinstallation, refill, etc the breaker tripped at around the time the heater should kick on. Why the heater decided to crap out at that exact time is unknown to me.
Joseph sometimes when you let the water out and expose the back of the heater to air it does that.. Meaning it was bad already it just needed a pressure change to be exposed and cause a breaker trip.. I have heater elements here.. hottubpartsofamerica.com/search.php?search_query=titanium
Thanks for the detailed video. This is exactly what a guy that doesn't know what he's doing (me), needs. I determined it was the heating element and replaced it easily.
Just thought I would add to public knowledge. I had a situation where my hot tub wasn’t heating so I replaced the heater element. After replacement, the breaker would trip instantly. Tried 2 new elements with same result. Went back to original and no tripping but no heat. Electrically the new and old heater elements were identical (10 ohm resistance, no path from lugs to mounting nuts). Measured voltage at element lugs and zero volts. Turned out that controller board had cold solder joints to both heater relay output pins. Resoldered pins to board and no more tripping the breaker with any of the heater elements and now have correct voltage at element posts and it’s heating fine. Not sure why having those bad solder joints would cause breaker tripping with new heater elements but not the old (still working) one - but it did. Something to be aware of, Definitely caused some head scratching on my part.
First week of January (coldest day of the yr around -4f with a -20-30 windchill) outside jacuzzi decided to stop heating. I replaced the filters, heater, hi limit switch, and temp sensor drained and refilled. The only thing i can think of is the circut board is next? The top controller works fine and the light calling for heat is on. NO CODES. Jets work as they should. Everyhting is normal just no heat. The breaker never tripped and the fuse is good. The board has a few dark areas but nothing that looked burnt or out of the ordinary. I replaced the circ pump last year also. Thank you in advance -Jason
Thanks for posting these videos. I just took on my first spa client and I have no knowledge of spas. I will be liking all of your great videos! Very Impressed! Thank you.
My hot tub starts and all looks good, then a few minutes in the breaker trips. When diagnosing the issues my breaker is only tripping when Pump 1 is connected all other parts are good (based on unplugging and disconnecting each individually). I even plugged in Pump 2 into Pump 1 port on the board and ran it for a while with no issue. Once the breaker is tripped it won't reset for a while, if I wait a day and reset it we start back in the beginning with all working for a short time. I just ordered replacement seals and bearing for Pump 2 for a small leak and a new heater titanium element from your website, figured worth fixing it up a little while I am in there working on it. Pump one is an Executive 56 2 speed motor (also serves as circulation pump), Hot Tub is a Master Spa TS7.2. Help Spa Guy...trying to isolate where the issue might be.
Thank you lots Spa guy you help lots today troubleshooting my spa and heater element. As i could see on my element when looked at, the rubber o rings had almost cut in half because of the manufacturing of the hole, it left a burr, so i filed it down better so as to not damage my new orings, so i changed only orings and did not have to buy new element :-). CHECK YOUR ORINGS !!! Thanks again spa guy
You are awesome! I thought for sure I had a bad breaker. After watching your video I did exactly what you said and realized the heating element was the issue. I ordered the part on Amazon and just installed it. Took me roughly an hour to install it. I did have to grind down one of my wrenches to fit as a back up support. Not a big deal, but took a little extra time. Thanks brother, I I owe you one. 👍😎 definite subscriber
Thanks for this informative video. I had a circuit breaker that keeps tripping. I had already tightened the AC wires and unplugged all accessories. Your test at 2:30 shows me that the heater must be bad. Thanks !
Mine is a hydroquip, incoming voltage appears ok, indicators on upper panel appear normal, no error message, but unit does not come on, pumps are not activated... nothing....what next?
25:15 you have a what on the board? I think I have this issue with my pump1 output. 2 speed only getting 120v it seems like. Great video, think my element is bad.
Love your videos! I’m in the process of fixing up a coast spa and I’m definitely putting in slice valves to isolate the heater incase it needs future service
I'm so pissed I can't thumb this awesome video up 100 times. TY for taking the time to do all this. I have to help a friend with his tub and idk what to do, but I do now! Thanks my friend! 😉
Thanks for the videos Spa Guy! I was able to get a new (to me) tub up and going with help from the videos. Just wanted to say thanks for posting such useful info!!!
Could you put some kind of cap on the pipe where the slice valve's are at...so the water wont come out..??? Do you think a balloon or something similar cap will stop the water from seeping past the slice valve, in other words cap off where the threads are, where the heater connects.
I got a platinum 2 hot tub ,its one of them costco ones its a 325 gallon 6 person ,my situation is when I reset the breaker it kicks it out immediately, so after doing a few things ,(1 ) I DISCONNECTED MY ELENENT AND IT DIDNT TRIP IT , BUT HOLD ON BECAUSE THEN I HAD CHECKED IT WITH MY OHM METTER AND TOUCHING ON THE 2 PRONGS ON THE ELEMENT THE READING WAS AT 15 SO THEN I CHECKED ONE PRONG TO ONE OF THE ELEMENT STUDS AND THE OTHER TO THE HOUSING IT WAS OL SO DID THE OTHER PRONG SO THAT EOULD TELL ME THAT ITS GOOD RIGHT? NOT QUITE DONE YET SO I CONNECTED EVERTHING BACK AND IT TRIPPED THE BREAKER again I then disconnected the ground wire to tub and didn't trip so I went to check the to tabs with my ohm meter when it fires it does so for about 2 -3 seconds with 240volts so my board should be ok Wright? So upon further research after that it shows its heating on my topside control but when I check on the tabs at the element nothing so I provided to do a jumper from the relay on the black hot side relay and heates fine but I can control the heating now with my top side control because I have it jumped, one more thing to throw out there is that I did order a new top side controller and installed it but wasn't exactly the same overlay but all 7 button functions are working as described , someone please help ,oh I forgot to mention that when I have the jumper on the element and the ground wire hooked back up I feel a little electricity in the water when I am barefoot and one had in the water.
Solved i wanted to thank the spa guy for all the information, I got out of work and just double ,triple checked everything and did find that the heater element was tripping it ,whats really crazy is the way this all happened, so let me start by saying that I got the hot tub from a realities that bought it back in 2006 and used it for about 5 years and he told me he really got his time In it but let me tell you its a platinum 2 hot tub ,one of them costco ones ,I was very skeptical to take it from him he literally had it Ion his roof of his house and don't even ask I we got it down ,he had a crane put it up there, and I guess I will share the story how I got it down so I drove a forklift from work about 8 blocks down alleys with about 20 pallets shaped down to the forks since I figured it wouldn't reach that hi when I got there he was getting his whole flat top roof redone and said he was going to chop it up if we can get it down ,I was very persistent to get it down in one piece ,so let's jump to how we did it ,we lifted it on some load bars to slide it over the edge of the roof with some tethering rope and about 6 guys pushing it over the side while I had the forklift about a good 12 feet from the top anyway I just can't get that out of my head so anyway we got it down set it in my yard and started to take it apart everthing was cracked all three faceplate covers ordered them found more cracks on gate valves ,both of them some of the hoses literally pushed of from freezing and didn't care about it so put it all back together filled it and was amazed it holds water ,next I hooked up the power ,I said beautiful let's turn it on , started to try and use topside control panel jets were going on but no heat so let me tell you I was like let me tell you I kind of rigged the wiring from my air-conditioning breaker first just to see if it works minus the ground it powered up but topside was acting up I took it apart had all kind of white flakeness around a few of the processes decide to order one ,got it about 7 days later suspense was killing me ,hooked it up and ,what do we know light up beautiful temp showing and here is the problem I then ran in to ,I set the temp and it started to heat ,I said nice left it like that for about 3 hours walking around it double checking everthing triple ,I mean countless times ,finally I said let's hook it up ordered a gfi electric box got it alm wired up AND THIS TIME IHOOKED UP THR GROUND WENT TO TURN IT ON ANX SNAP THE BREAKER TRIPPED ,SPA GUY PUT IT ALL GOID HOW TO CHECK IT ,I did the ohm meter checking took the board out no burns or lose connection I couldn't figure it out I checked the prongs on the element with ohm meter it was at 15 checked one prong then other lead from meter to element housing it said ol so that fine ,NORWALLT I HAD MY OHM METTER SET TO 20 ,IT TOIK ME buyout 3 days to go back and check it with my ohm meter set to 200 ,I probed housing of element and one prong and there it was it jumped ,I HAVE TO SAY THAT THE SENSITEVITY LEVEL OF THEse gfi breakers are really sensitive I mean sensitive so I wanted to throw it out there also I did have the shocking when I touched the water and one foot on the ground scared the shit out off me anyway if this were to tell you something is hook your hot tub up right before you cut corners like I did and take your time in working with 240 volt system but Nyway got the new element coming will let you know what happens , Thanks again to the spa guy for his time in making these videos.
Did you do a resistance check on the old element? My breaker is tripping only with heater plugged in, soon as I isolate it, it doesn’t trip, but I did a resistance check, and it was good 14.9 ohms
Thanks for the video Spa Guy. It helped me to replace my heater element element. Do you have a video on how the replace the waterfall on a 2018 Jacuzzi J-375. I was loosening the screws so I could open it and clean it. But the screws stripped and now its loose with water coming out the bottom.
I can't get the new heater element tube in my existing tube. I had to cut the two electrical prongs off in order to get the original out. What's the best way to slide the new in the tube?
Helpful video, I inherited an older model Watkins Solana TX that has a bad heating element. Should I buy an entire replacement (tube, element, gaskets, connections) for $100-200 or just a new element?
Just the element.. hottubpartsofamerica.com/g-heater-element-4-0kw-gasket-kit-hot-tub-spa-part-m7-balboa-gecko-hydroquip-titanium-silicon-kit-best-value/
Good Morning Spa Guy! Just scrolling thru the Q & A's here is interesting and beneficial, particularly those from Headless Horseman... I was beginning to think we owned the only Coleman 455 ever manufactured! Here's our problem: changed the water, got the tub all spiffy clean, topped up and "poof" goes the breaker. Nothing new really as it's sometimes taken a few throws [or flips] for it to stay on. When not, as this time, it's usually the element, right? Not this time. Well, who knows... with the new element in the breaker isn't flipping anymore but nothings happening... no pumps, no lights and who knows about the heater. There's electricity floating around in there cause... well, let's say I got a tingle :) I've replaced the 3 fuses I can see... the larger 30 amp one + the 2 smaller 7amp glass ones... any ideas? The topside controls weren't looking too hot prior to this and I was thinking we should get the Maxx replacement part (Coleman / Maax Spas TOPSIDE, PANEL, C400 & C600 SERIES - 2003-5 (NO OVERLAY) - 103305) but haven't gotten that far yet. Could that be the problem? Thanks! Peter
Thanks for the video, unfortunately, my problem is not resolved. My gfci popped after 2 years of service.( hot tub and breaker were both new). I thought the panel was shot . But then I removed all wires leaving the panel and added back one at a time to find that the heater was indeed the problem. BUT there is no visible corrosion, and the heater ohms out at 15.1 (4K), and is not making continuity to ground? The gfci holds with heater unplugged which suggests its not the breaker? Any thoughts?
Replace the heater.. Your meter cannot sense the short to ground that the gfci can sense and you don't have to have any visible issues for it to be bad.. There are two ways a heater can be bad.. Open and a Short to Ground.. In your case you have a short to ground..
I think I have this exact problem on my tub. I opened up the case today and the terminal into the tube for the heater had one little drip on top (wasn't sure ehow it got there) and it trips out. I tried unplugging the pumps ect and it still did the same. I'll order heater and give it a go
I'm curious if the heater elements ever bang against the inside of the heater tube. I can't seem to locate a ridiculously loud banging noise when the heater motor kicks on high speed. It's definitely not coming from the motor. Thanks for publishing such a great video!
I have an old first generation Hot Spring Spa. Serial #10095 does not have a model type. The circulation pump was making noise but there was hot water. Would heat but would trip the GFI at the plug. I replaced the heater circulation pump and the water is moving fine now but the heater is not heating. Before I buy a new heater element (the most expense part) could it be the thermostat? How do I check if its that? Or the Hi temp sensor? How do I check that also?
started my tub up after years started warming the water (set low95ish) for trial. All was good went to bed and woke up breaker tripped. with everything connected except the plug to the heater seems fine as soon as I try to connect the heater it blows. tested it and its not shorted and reads 15ohms your thoughts please
Would be good to see you test the actual old or bad element to see the ohms before changing. Mine test good but still blows the breaker when it fires. Flow sensor is fine. When I unplug the heater I do get the 120 output but when it is plugged in it trips.
Thank you very much for this very informative video. I was able to change my element myself. It cost me 35$ total instead of the estimate I got from a technician , 160$. Great job !!!
He estimated $900-1200 and took 450 to order part and took off w my $350 Klein meter…and he never came back or took my calls. His father died and left him the POOL PLACE his father had serviced my hot tub for 10 years. Then his son screwed over so many of us in this area. Pools and hot tubs.
Do you need the same numbered wire like princes number eight to come out of the breaker from the main panel to the GFI and then from there to the hot tub I’ll have to be the same thickness of wire
The wire size is determined by the distance and also the size of the amp draw of the tub.. If it is a 2 pump tub you normally need #6 wire.. If it is a (1) pump tub and a short run you can get by with #8.. Whatever the incoming wire size is should be the wire size outgoing too..
Hey Spa Guy...my Solana TX spa is approx. 14 years old, 2 years ago I replaced the pump and all has been good, until yesterday when we had a power outage, this morning my spa was running on low which is normal, however the water was cold. Would not switch to high, so I tried to reset everything and got the spa back working as it should but now the heater does not seem like its working...no error codes, the light on the display shows heater ON, everything appears to be working as it should, does not trip the breakers, however the water is cold. I have not open the unit yet, will get around to that tomorrow, does this sound like a bad heater? How long does a heater last?
Great video. My hot spot hot tub keeps tripping. I checked all the items you mentioned. Nothing stands out. It ONLY trips every few days though. It doesn't just trip immediately. Any ideas? I suspect its one of the items you mentioned, but since it doesn't break immediately, I am stumped.
I have a cal spas with a Balboa 2100 and the only way I can get it to not trip the breaker is to do 1 of 3 things. I have a direct short somewhere between my black and neutral. 1 unplug the transformer, 2 pull the 1/2amp fuse just left of the plug for the transformer, 3 pull the 30amp fuse that's at the top of the box. I replaced the transformer as we did test it and it was bad however the problem persists. I see no damage or shorts on the board. Any thoughts or suggestions of where or whatI can look at next?
The heater on my spa works intermittently. When I initially turn the heater on, the heater light illuminates but goes out after a few seconds. The system still runs, but the water doesn’t heat up. Suggestions please
At the end of your video at 25:46 you say something like " If you do not have 240 v across both termials and it reads zero but if you test one termials to ground and it reads half voltage then you have a "cold ??? Joint on the board " ? To me it sounds like you saying" cold sodier joint" I have this very situation that you describe and I need to know what it is you said and what it means. Thank you your help is appreciated
Thanks for your help I figured out what it was he had said. I removed and inspected the backside of the board ( PCB) for bad solder welds made necessary repairs works fine
Spa Guy just watched your video and cleared up my questions but I can't understand what you said about a ground on the board. Getting half voltage while testing elements studs to ground not 220 as I should. Help me out here please.
Excellent informative video. Problem was not the breaker tripping but leaking. Found it at the seal at the end of the heater tube. As you described, corrosion at the heater element lug. Tested the element per your video with my VOM. The element tested OK. Question: Is it feasible to disassemble the element from the tube clean it and replace the seal if they are available? Not worth the time and effort? Buy a whole new assembly?
If the Element is leaking at one of the lugs there is not reselling you replace the element.. If it is a gasket at the end of the tube you simply replace the gaskets.. I have the element with the gaskets on the site if you need both as well as silicon to seal the lugs.. Thanks, Spa Guy hottubpartsofamerica.com/balboa-spa-hot-tub-heater-m7-sensor-replacement-temp-hi-limit-24-video-how-to/
"what was that last statement"? at 25:21 about a cold soldier joint on the forbes?.... can you repeat that statement for clarity and explain? Thanks... great video... I trouble shot my LeisureBay Spa in 5 mins after watching and determined my heater element was out......The GFI wouldn't reset.... disconnected the copper tabs, and it all worked except for the BAD HTR
I have a tub that the power terminal getting hot red side, tub runs but the plastic mount holding the terminals seems like it’s smoking a bit due to the hot wire getting too hot.
When you replace the manifolds on a viking spa that has the 700 degree foam blasted on it at the factory do you then re-insulate the manifolds that have been replaced ?
Question: I have all the symptoms of a bad heater, I removed the hot legs to the heater and the breaker stays on. Heater tests at 15 ohms 4k heater. After I removed it I measured across the hot legs I get nothing, I get 120 volts on the left one but nothing on the right. What would cause that? Is my board bad? Its a very old celebrity spa, I'm not even sure how old it is but I got it from a friend and we have had it for 10 years and not sure how long he had it.
Hi there Spaguy. I have had a low flow issue on full flow. Now l have ordered a new pump. I put in the old pump a new impellor and seals because most of it had disintegrated. This did not improve anything. I have a heater similar or the same as this one in this video ,same make also. I think that I need to take this apart and look inside just in case some of the impellor is stuck inside. I found very small bits in the hot tub, but there must be much more somewhere. What do you think ?
I am having the issue you described at the end of the video where I get no power across the heater terminals and half when tested through the ground. How would I go about fixing the cold soldered joint on the board?
Great video sir, my issue is that the heater is tripping my breaker after doing the elemination process i find that when i hook up the heater left lead it trips the breaker while powered but it doesnt do it with the right leadt touches,,,i have also nocited that i have 120v to that lead that causes the breaker to trip but zero volts to the right lead, isnt it supposed to have 240v when powered and i test both leads to the heater that come from the pack?...why am i only getting 120v to one and zero on the other?.....the power coming in to the pack has been tested and is correct
Great videos...my bull frog broke the impeller on one pump ...replaced it but in the midst of it all the heat burnt out replace it everything was all good until we were tubin about five minutes pump one dropped 2 speed ...the top panel reads it's running but it's not.. let it sit for minutes and will restart but again trips out ?and I think the impeller broke again?
You mean the website to get a heater like this? I would start by clicking the white banner across the top of the video that says "Click Here to go to Flow Through Heaters Like This on the Spa Guy's Website Hot Tub Parts of America.."
Hi love the videos, Is the control board designed just to operate the heating element fitted to the tub when it was purchased new or can it be upgraded to a higher kw eg 2kw to a 3 or 4kw thankyou
most boards will operate multiple wattage elements but there are many other factors.. Most in America are 4.0 for 5.5 and changing a 4 for a 5.5 causes undue strain on the system and only adds 1 degree an hour in heat.. Not worth it.. Spa Guy
@@SpaGuy Hi many thanks, my tub has a 2kw heater which has gone bad, so needs replacement, I was told by a parts supplier I would also have to buy a new control board to increase the heater output which I had my doubts, does a 2kw have to run for longer using more electricity than a higher powered heater. ? Many thanks Julian
Great video; at the end you mentioned a "cold solder joint on the board" problem. I did the test you showed and it seems like that I may have that problem; no breaker tripping, heating light is on the panel but the tub isn't heating, and I get 120V when testing each electrode separately but 0V when testing across. Can I fix the cold solder joint problem or do I need to replace the entire board? Any advice appreciated.
Hello. What size pipe wrench are you using at 8:45 in the video? I need to get one for my hot tub to tighten that collar as it is dripping slowly from the right side. Thank you
Thanks Spa Guy, but I rummaged through my father's old tools and found the oil filter wrench, however, after removing the split nut union to check the condition of the o-ring gasket, I was surprised to find that there was NO GASKET AT ALL which would probably explain the leak. No? So now the question is which size o-ring to order. Can you offer some guidance on this new issue?
Good morning Sir, I owned a 1997 Z140 Whirlpool spa with a balboa instruments model du-h276-dcah. After 3 years not been used due Covid I recently hook it up again. When I plug in the power the RED heater light from hot tub control panel turn on for about 35 seconds and it turn it off. After that the pump is running, everything is working pump 1, pump 2, light are working good except the heater. Can you please give me some advise what is going on here please. Thanks a lot and have a wonderful day. Kim
Same issue, and at my age I was tired of keeping up repairs around the house, I was willing to pay to have someone fix it. I called for service.First business was $180 to show, then +110 an hour, next available two weeks out. Store we purchased was $249 and 4 weeks out. Not wanting to wait, I searched and found this video. Yup, my heating element is bad. 2024 prices with shipping around $90. Only wish they could do overnight shipping. SInce the first hot tub arrived 20+ years, we get ugly without a working hot. Waiting 4 weeks for just for service was not do able.
I appreciate the order and comment.. The reason I don't offer overnight is many times items do not come overnight even though you pay for it and we get blamed.. Just not worth the hassle..
I had a pool spa or a spool heater was totally corroded opened panel and the whole heater just fell out I need to terminate the wires but I have 4 black wires 1 white 1 green 1 yellow 1 blue the yellow and blue reads 240 volts and the 4 black wires read 120 volt I’m not replacing any thing actually disconnected the pool too turned that into a pond. The problem is I need to do something with the wires I can’t disconnect from panel because it completes a circuit so any ideas
Hi Spa guy I have a Master Spas legend series 1050 and the gfci keeps tripping as soon as i reset. I have heat and normal operation if i bypass the gfci. (no we don't get into the tub) but its in the neg temps right now and don't want anything to freeze. Would it be the ozonator if it trips right away? I read somewhere it doesn't call for heat til after the prime? When it warms up a bit I plan on getting it working correctly. Thanks for the video.
hi I followed your video and when I unhooked the heater the hot tub didn't trip... but when I turned the jets on high it still tripped the breaker with the heater disconnected. can this still happen if the heater is faulty. please respond. great video. thanks brett
Thanks so much... our exact problem. You do a great video. We have a vita spa LC500, discontinued heater and burned the circuit board. Any thoughts on after market psrts?
Hello..Im working on a tub that trips the breaker only when the ground wire is connected, as long as the ground wire is pulled off of the board it does not trip...and there is an led on the board that stays lit ONLY while that ground wire is off the board...I have pulled everything..and I mean everything off one at a time on the board....nothing trips until the ground is reattached to the control board..The only thing I can think of is the GFI has gone bad and wont hold the load of the heating elements when first started.
Hi Spa Guy great video!. I have a Tiger River Spa, approx 6 yrs old that came with the house i bought, in nice working condition. It worked fine for a year. Then it started to trip after 5 min of running time. It started happening when it got cold out (southeast Michigan). I didnt know the condition of the filter so i replaced it, and it worked again and didnt trip for a while. I clean the filter about every 3 months, we use the tub about twice a week. Now, its getting cold out and it trips again when in use. When not in use the heater works fine. But oddly i noticed it only trips when both the heater and jets are on at the same time. If i heat it up to where i want it, i turn the heater down so it's not engaged and run the jets as long as im in there and it doesnt trip. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated! Thanks for your time.
Got the same problem!... hopefully I'll get a similar result. Great video
This was probably the only "long" intro I actually enjoyed... ty
I’m a girl and I think I can replace my heat element by watching this video as I go. Cause I sure can’t find anyone to come repair it.
Thanks
This helped me identify that my corroded heating element was causing my unit to trip the breaker. THANK YOU!
This helped me find the problem with my tub which was the heating element and then i ordered a new element from them and received it in 2 days with free shipping unbelievably fast thanks one of my favorite channels on you tube many thanks.
Thank You for the Order!!
My 11 year old cal spa runs like a top thanks to you & detailed how to videos! Once again !! thank you !!
Thank you in advance
-Jason
Turned out to be circuit board
Thanks for posting these videos. I just took on my first spa client and I have no knowledge of spas. I will be liking all of your great videos! Very Impressed! Thank you.
100% what was wrong with my tub. Thanks a million!
A big thank-you from Montreal! You saved me a lot of money and stress. Your video is absolutely easy to follow.
This video is truly excellent, succinct and to-the-point. A wonderfully done how-to!
Thanks !

Any of these 5.5 are correct for balboa..
This was so helpful and saved me a load of money. This looked exactly like my setup and as you said, it does look like the heater coil. THANK YOU!
Good
Mine is a hydroquip, incoming voltage appears ok, indicators on upper panel appear normal, no error message, but unit does not come on, pumps are not activated... nothing....what next?
25:15 you have a what on the board? I think I have this issue with my pump1 output. 2 speed only getting 120v it seems like. Great video, think my element is bad.
An outstanding video. "Spa Guy" a true professional. I so appreciate you.
This video helped me successfully change out my heater element. Thanks for the helpful upload.
Youve just saved me a fortune, followed your video, boom fixed. I owe you a beer.
This video is so well done he’s going to put himself out of business
Thank you so much for this information. I replaced my heater with tube and it is running great.
Love your videos! I’m in the process of fixing up a coast spa and I’m definitely putting in slice valves to isolate the heater incase it needs future service

@@SpaGuy thanks! Do you have a video on the basics of the ozonator/ how to test/ troubleshoot one?
Excellent video. The best I watch. Everything you do is very well explained and demonstrated.
Thanks this video saved me. Fixed it with your help feels oh so satisfying.
Thank You for watching!! Spa Guy
Great Informational video, you helped us out in diagnosing and replacing our bad heater quickly before it gets too cold here!
Thanks for watching Eric... Spa Guy
Legit. Its just awesome to watch someone with so much expertise!
Very well explained and illustrated! Good job! Thank you very much!
Did you do a resistance check on the old element? My breaker is tripping only with heater plugged in, soon as I isolate it, it doesn’t trip, but I did a resistance check, and it was good 14.9 ohms
Thanks for this video, great troubleshoot that found my issue quickly - the heater! Saved me time and money, thanks!
Sadly I do not have a video on the water fall..
OK, thanks for responding
great informative video, excellent presentation.
Yes it can some elements have clips on them to keep them from vibrating and making noise..
Spa Guy knows a bunch!
Kyle did you ever find the problem for the breaker tripping? Was the breaker bad?
Suggestions please
thankyou for the step by step video... my hot tub is heating again perfectely...brett
Cold solder joint: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Soldering
Same problem here.. board problem i’ll Guess?
I trouble shot my LeisureBay Spa in 5 mins after watching and determined my heater element was out......The GFI wouldn't reset.... disconnected the copper tabs, and it all worked except for the BAD HTR
does this mean that the board is bad?
Same problem here..
Same
wow, just wow, ! excellent video, as steve trubilla said in his post, a true professional you are. thanx again.
I don't I add 1" foam board in the void behind the side panel for insulation and then you have access to the manifolds if you ever need it again..
Wow this is a very thorough video with many points being introduced
If you opened the motor you probably bent the two speed switch..
What is the website to order this?
You mean the website to get a heater like this? I would start by clicking the white banner across the top of the video that says "Click Here to go to Flow Through Heaters Like This on the Spa Guy's Website Hot Tub Parts of America.."
Spa Guy thanks a ton
I'm checking it tomorrow
Hi love the videos,
Is the control board designed just to operate the heating element fitted to the tub when it was purchased new or can it be upgraded to a higher kw eg 2kw to a 3 or 4kw thankyou
most boards will operate multiple wattage elements but there are many other factors..
AWESOME video! Thanks so much! Was able to diagnose that the heater was causing the breaker to trip! Thanks friend!
Thank You Cory, Remember my parts website is www.hottubpartsofamerica.com Thanks, Spa Guy

Fantastic. Thanks so much for the prompt reply. The additional video you recommended is great.
Hello. What size pipe wrench are you using at 8:45 in the video? I need to get one for my hot tub to tighten that collar as it is dripping slowly from the right side. Thank you
Hello BoSox, I offer those on my parts website hottubpartsofamerica.com/hot-tub-spa-plumbing-pliers-for-unions-fittings/ Spa Guy
Can you offer some guidance on this new issue?
yeh tired of drips, they vary with outside temp
Thanks for doing your video in high def.
Kim
Thanks you helped me so much and I love your video
I learned something today. TY Spa!
Well finally You have learned something..
Thanks for the video.
hi I followed your video and when I unhooked the heater the hot tub didn't trip... but when I turned the jets on high it still tripped the breaker with the heater disconnected. can this still happen if the heater is faulty. please respond. great video. thanks brett
where can I but a new element rather than the whole package? Hudson bay spa energy saver 110vac
"i dont know much, but i know hot tubs" lol hell yea
What is the best way of testing the M7 sensors please
