The Note 9 is still good, but darker areas are blown out and clouds show less detail. The S22 is slightly better, even if the pictures look paler. But you can't have everything.

Absolutely agree! It's the headphone jack that's important for me. Cameras are nice, but not make or break for me. The quality of the screen for TH-cam, and the capacity. Hell! I don't even need the MicroSD with 512gig!
Awesome video. I was super surprised on how good some of the pics were on the Note 9.. Outstanding results for a 4 year device. I liked some of the images from the Note 9 better than the S22 Ultra.

Thanks for the cool review! You helped me once again to make sure that there is no point in changing the Note 9 to Ultra yet. After seeing the result of the photo on my wife's Iphone 13, I thought that Samsung had stepped as far, but unfortunately not. The post-processing isn't impressive enough to throw away the Note 9 and pay $1,000 for the S 21 Ultra or S22 Ultra.
For the photo, you still have to carry a Nikon d610 and 24-70 f2.8 with you, and so I wanted the smartphone to be able to also take pictures next year....or never)

i'm a proud owner of the note9 for almost 4 years now. i feel like I'm due for an upgrade, but honestly I'm not very convinced with the S22 ultra or any other phone in the market right now. I can't justify splashing out the cash on a new device, especially that my note 9 is still going strong. I want to upgrade, but I have no excitement to do so! Should I go for S22 ultra or wait for S23 ultra?

There's only 3 things that I like about the Note 9 still from this day,
1, LED Notification light,
2, SD Card Slot,
3, Iris Scanner,
4, Heart rate sensor ,
And to top it off, I feel it will never go out of date from the note series as best out of the Note phones with out certain features is the Note20 ultra and the Note9.
And its a shame the AR Zone doesn't have the Video feature on the app on the Note 9 , only the basic AR Zone features,
Still latest new phones don't always beat older versions as it swings a round about as both have different features that people like and miss.

The headphone jack is a must for productivity, the fingerprint reader is amazing too on the back.
S10 plus kept the torch burning.. u could even make a spen using foil tip...but last time I checked that sensitivity was removed... smh.

I do notice improvement with pics and videos on S22 Ultra though. Thanks for this video. I'm still debating on whether to trade in my Note 9 for S22 Ultra. Verizon has $1000 trade in credit but has to be applied over 36 months.
I like the 1000 dollar credit from Verizon but 36 months is a long time but if you don't plan on upgrading in the next 4 years ago for it. The s22 ultra is a great phone don't to get at least 256 or 512gb of storage as the s22 ultra is missing SD card support.
@@TheTechPreacher I had to revisit this video. I didn't want to be locked and paying on a phone for 36 months. This is my first time ordering an unlocked Samsung phone. Just placed an order today. After 2 trade ins & first responder discount got a 512 for $191! Samsung is having a nice trade in deal until May 9. I can't remember do you usually use carrier phones or unlocked?
It's crazy how well the note 9 cameras still hold up. I wonder why that sensor and the S7 plus sensor is so good. I used my S7 plus to take pictures on my wedding they still look great. I wonder what they do to the newer sensors.

I like to watch some videos like this which further prove to me that I don't need a newer expensive phone. I like the colours of all the photos more on the Note 9 and the Note 9 has a way better blur effect than even the S22 Ultra which is mind blowing to me. Heck, going from a GS7 to a Note 9 felt like a huge upgrade anyways.

I currently have the note 9 and it is amazing but I just jumped on a sale a few days ago for the s22 ultra 512 gb model and I'll be switching to that device in a few days after using the note 9 for around 4 years without upgrading until now. Thank you for an excellent video. When you hear all the Geekbench scores, and the percentage speed increases, it's important to realise for all the Note 9 is a four year old phone. It was still a flagship, and I still use it daily. Hell, I've still got my Note 4, though it's more stutter than animation nowadays. Without the pixel peeping, and analysis, I have to admit, I'm half considering retiring my Note 9. But, this tells me, for all the features: 120Hz, better WiFi, I still have an amazing phone, and don't need to waste my money. I'll keep my Note 9, until it fails,... or at least another couple of years. Thank you, once again.

Watching this in 2024. Had Note 10 and 10 Lite. I'm amazed at the quality of the Note 9. Yes, S22U pics are brighter, but Note 9 looks so much more professional, polished and unprocessed. Even low light highlights and colours are managed better. Shocking!

Selfie Camera, Night Mode, Zoom and Ultra wide photos.
The Note 9 is great especially in daytime photos, true colors representation rear-facing camera video.

I put my Note 9 last week on the bumper of my brother's truck while I took my dog to go to the bathroom. I had just woken up and had no clue what I was doing, well my brother drove off with it and by time I found it, it had been run over several times. So now I have an S22 Ultra. The Ultra is obviously an upgrade in every way, you can really get some good photos with the S22 Ultra whether a quick shot or taking your time in Expert Raw. But the Note 9 would've lasted me a couple more years easily as it was still very snappy in doing everything I use a smartphone for and still took good pics. I have 100's of photos to compare to the S22 Ultra and sorry, it's a no contest s22 Ultra blows it away.

I love the note series and the note9 is my all time favorite. I have bought three and gifted two of them.

My note 9 still a beast, 512gb rom and 8 gb ram is just unreal for the time, and it doesn't even count the other key features like expandable storage and Samsung dex for example. Sadly mine has a burned and broken screen and I have to let it go, the issue is samsumg itself since they are charging crazy prizes for new devices and the currency conversion is 4 x 1 in my country, so the new devices are not even close to my reach. I gotta say we the note users are very loyal fans, even more than Apple fan boys, we got invested a lot with this workhorse. Without a doubt the note line is the best device for productivity no contest, you have a work station on your pocket and no other device offers the same features. I will get a nubia / ZTE phone because they offer top notch features for a fair price, but I will literally cry the day my simcard comes out to swap phones.
Thanks for the video, I wish Samsung comes back to the good old days with fair prices and features, the headphone jack is a must for example, how are you supposed to edit videos with unreliable wireless headphones, or limited storage/access to SD cards.... Stay safe man, much love from Colombia

Since the Note 10+ got the wide angle len makes more sense to get one and not pay hundreds of dollars more for the Note 21 ultra that wasn't released in august but 6 months later for the price of day 1😁 cause that Note 21ultra/S22ultra would've been at least $350 cheaper by now. At night the s22 has more sharpness and stabilization, in audio the Note 9 is the supreme king. The image quality of your face at the beginning of the video with the Note 9 looks very good and natural. excellent video thanks and greetings.

Has Apple bought Samsung without us knowing? Little to no upgrades, same old same old, top prices for little upgrade. I've been with Samsung since after the s4+ Apple. Samsung were always so refreshing, decent upgrades good prices. Miss getting that excitement of what upgrade I'd get once my contract ran out.

Wow...I just bought the S22 Ultra, and thought it was my imagination that the photo and video quality didn't compare to the Note 9. This confirms it. Problem was, the Note 9 was starting to get glitchy, and in the past I waited to long to upgrade and lost a lot of stuff when the system crashed.

Tested with my phones. N9 has better color but less details. This video confirmed it. I dunno, but s22 makes my floor looks dirty, because it contrasts black parts a lot and more details, N9 makes my floor looks more colorful and smooth. Kknda sad s22 just not beats it in all aspects.

The note 9 is still one of the most perfect phones, I wish it had a wide angle lens though. With as many improvements the s22 ultra has, you lose a lot too. Headphone jack, SD card, heart rate sensor, LED notification. The biggest negative for me is the hole punch. I can't understand how so many people don't have a problem with this. I worked in a movie theater and people always complain about hairs or scratches on the film screen. Now we are all content with a hole in our display while watch movies? Would you buy a TV with a hole on the far left side of the display? I watch a lot of movies on my phone so I will be holding on to the Note 9 for as long as I can. I would sooner sacrifice the S-Pen and get a Sony phone with no hole punch.
