    • @BrotherRoy

We done exactly that, and I can tell you, the wife and I are both happy with our S22 Ultra's. Although we're still keeping our Note 9's for some apps and backup, the S22 Ultra's helped up to cut that umbilical cord to the Note 9. You won't notice the difference except only better. Phone jack and expandible storage didn't play as a deciding factor after all.

However, Samsung just released a new update for the note 9, which I've installed. And I've noticed a significant drop in the way the phone performs. It's so much slower than before. @@BabyDonZie I've had my S22 Ultra for a few weeks now. I love the phone. Definitely feels more premium than the note 9. The screen is beautiful, the camera is definitely better, and it runs more smoothly. However is it worth over £1k more than the Note 9, definitely not. This just feels like a small incremental upgrade to the note 9 (before the update to throttle the performance), and not the 3-4 year age gap between these phones. If you are able to hold on to the note 9 for a bit longer until the price of the s22 ultra drops down, then I'd recommend waiting. If you can somehow remove the last update which slows down the note 9, then try and get that done, and the phone will be good enough for a few more years. The S22 Ultra is definitely better, but not £1k+ worth of "better".

If your Note 9 is still in great condition functioning well and you're fine with not receiving anymore major updates then you probably should stick with your Note 9 unless you get a great deal on a trade like i did, I have the Note 10+ was definitely not planning on upgrading but Verizon offered me a great deal I'm basically getting the S22U 512 for $355 and my monthly bill will actually turn out to be less than what I had already been paying thanks to also getting $30 a month knocked off for auto pay and now I'm on Verizons premium plan, so upgrading made sense to me but if you had to pay over $1,000 to trade I definitely wouldn't do it there's not that much difference between the two. Good luck on whatever you decide but don't let that urge to get a new phone get the best of you if it's going to burn a hole in your pocket👍

I'm in the same boat . I will most probably upgrade this year , but the phone i had my mind set on is simply not worth it -the S22 ultra-
I have the better version of the Note9 with 512gb and more importantly the 8gb ram . To my hardware the s22 ultra does not provide enough umphh , and the better version with 512gb and 12gb ram frankly costs too much . Not to mention the downgrades in several areas like the 3.5mm jack , expandable storage , iris scanner , pulse reader with blood oxigen reader , apparently the better sound , NO NOTCH . To me the size is also a downside , the note9 is pretty much the max size i can carry , this adds an extra 4mm in lenght +the bumps .
I'm considering the mi mix 11 ultra , but that is also a giant phone with giga bump . I really do not want to give up on the 3.5mm jack , and no notch , but seems like there's no choice really . Sony has a few phones with 3.5 jack , but the prices are astronomical for no good reason. The Asus rog phones are also huge .
For the moment i'm holding on to the note9 . I still have my previous phone before the note and that is still operational and somewhat acceptable altough laggy -but that was only 300usd brand new in 2016.

    • @jimmyc1518
      @jimmyc1518 2 ปีที่แล้ว

@@kisspeteristvan I hear ya, yeah if the major enhancements like the camera isn't a must have for you an your Note 9 is working fine and those other features you mentioned is something you use a lot an enjoy then you're probably better off holding onto it a bit longer to see if any of those things come back in the future to more so justify a upgrade. You have to go with what suits you, now when I went from the Note 9 to the Note 10+ I didn't miss those things as much as I thought I would, I never be out an about with wired Earbuds or even Bluetooth Earbuds connected to my phone and the only time I use Bluetooth Earbuds is for my laptop in certain situations I've never paired them with my 10+ and the only time I needed the headphone jack was when I traveled in my truck that isn't Bluetooth capable so a dongle that allowed me to use while charging wasn't an issue because the dongle never leaves the Aux cord of my truck so I never have to worry about losing it, the only issue I had was I had to pay extra to do the same thing I could do before with my Note 9 out of the box an I had to go through about 3 dongles to finally get a quality one that wouldn't mess up after a couple of months, but I can see where that would be a nuisance for someone that uses those features differently than I do I definitely wouldn't want to be walking around with a dongle if I preferred wired quality Earbuds that I have money invested in lol
If it gets to the point that you have to do something but don't want to put a ton in a new phone you're not going to be fully satisfied but no matter what phone you're looking at is missing most if not all of those features you mentioned then I would recommend finding a good deal on a Note 10+, it doesn't have the headphone jack or Iris or oxygen monitor but it is a rock solid device with expandable storage option an you'll still have the S-pen it's the closest you're going to get to the Note 9 an you could get a real good deal on one now, that would also put you on Android 12 one UI 4.0 an buy you some more time to see what happens down the road. If I wasn't getting a really good deal on a S22 ultra I would have definitely kept my 10+ for sure.

Thank you for your thoughtful insights I use my Note 9 to take case notes in the field. I went on Chat on Verizon Wireless and bought a Galaxy S 22 after the rep told me it would work like my Note 9. I had to cancel order after learning the S pen is not compatible and it doesn't have a slot for it. Verizon was giving me $700 for my Note 9 toward a new S 22 Ultra. That lead me to you ...thanks again

Had a Note 9 since 2018. 2 years ago the screen started to turn 'green' and blurry haphazardly. Tried every proposed solution by Samsung and youtubers to get back the phone to normal but nothing changed up to now! Upgrading soon! No regrets! I've tried the S10 and the S20. They just don't do it for me. The S22 looks to be more of the same with a notch, bigger, heavier and square corners that dig into my pockets. No thanks.
Take the Note 9, put in a modern processor, more efficient/scratch resistant screen, and a better camera. Keep everything else exactly the same. I will order one the day it comes out.
My favorite feature of the Note 9 is the fingerprint reader on the back. Fast, reliable and totally under my control. I don't like any dot or notch. I don't want a bigger phone, I don't want annoying square corners. I don't want a heavier phone. I want a Note 9 with updated software and hardware. I guess it's OK if it doesn't have a headphone jack. I would also be OK if Samsung dumped Bixby.

For me its not so much about the specs but happy to carry around the note 9 for work, going out etc. At least if the note 9 gets lost or broken you can replace it for £150-200. To carry the s22 ultra in your pocket would be like carrying £1000+ pounds and that just seems to great a risk especially when most insurance tries to wriggle out of paying out. Also i know its been said a thousand times but the lack of a headphone jack does seem to upset my friends that have upgraded. Wireless headphones in my view is just one extra thing to mess around charging. Also beware battery life on the s22ultra as there are many reports on it not lasting anywhere near good enough to be classed as 5000ma?? Any users experience of battery??

After playing with the S22U for several hours, the only thing I could think of was that this big ass phone is gonna get hurt when it falls. Overall, it's a beautiful phone that has hard to beat specs (even w/o a phone jack, expandable memory, heart rate sensor, etc), but it's not that much better than the note 9. You say the fingerprint scanner is terrible, terrible as in it's not accurate and takes usually more than one attempt to unlock your phone or terrible as in the placement under the screen compared to it being on the back of the Note 9? I have no problem with the latter but the former would be a big let down. Mine is the Exynos version, maybe the snapdragon one is better? I've scanned my thumb multiple times to try and get a good reading but still find it much worse than the note 9 scanner... The wife and I bought Note 9's in 2018 and wasn't too quick to replace them. However, this year, with the S22 Ultra's, it was time. 5G and updates being the main factor explains why it was time. If there was a phone which could follow in the trend of Note 9, S22 Ultra was it. Believe it or not, we only NOW stopped carrying our Note 9's when going out. Took me 2 weeks and the wife 4, but I don't see us giving up our Note 9's anytime soon. We're both not into photography to the level of being swayed by it; however, I've begun experimenting with the zoom and have gotten some amazing photos. I plan to utilize it more now. I thought not having a phone jack would be a concern--it's not. Our headphones work just as fine. Overall, I would recommend anyone to get the S22 Ultra's and not wait on what is coming out now. I will make this controversial statement, S22 Ultra with "S" pen continues the Note series, just using a different tag identifier.

Staying with note 9 until I see a major feature that comes out with new mobiles. Also inflation.

With the $800 trade in on the 22 ultra right now for my Note 9 through AT&T and the cost of a Note 9 in the mid $200's, I'm trading in my Note9 for the discount and then will purchase a Note9 as a backup. I will save $500+ on the 22 Ultra and have a 9 available. Have the best of both worlds.
I'm a pastor and I use my 9 as a teleprompter feed to a smartview TV on the back wall of the sanctuary. I'll use the 9 as the teleprompter. Then I'll use the 22 Ultra as a telescriptor on maps and other documents thats week be projected Inhouse and online.
