I love the Samsung Galaxy Note 9 as much as the next person...but unless you have a really good reason to hang onto it...it might be time to say goodbye. What are you doing even comparing these two or looking for an excuse to keep the Note 9? :)

I mean you can have fun with that new AI government tracking with your soon to be biometric bloodsucking, blood sample of a phone though :).. . Mine is unlocked and the screen doesn't hurt my eyes from the specs that are too sharp from yours, but yk.. . what are specs lol

The note 9 is the perfect device bc it definitely won't be doing that to me anytime soon.. . unprompted.. . unasked for.. . and unprepared.. . have you seen what technology is capable of rn?? it's honestly quite alarming imo.. .

What I'm gonna do is wait for the S25 Ultra next year and see what Samsung does with it. If it's something crazy and worth the money I'll pick it up, otherwise I'll get the S24 Ultra after it's been a year and it's cheaper, while keeping the Note 9. But goddamn it's hard to let go.

I just got my Note 9 slightly over one year ago, it's still under warranty. I perceive it as very modern and capable. The biggest down side is that is entirely from glass, mine broke after a couple of weeks. The second down side is that it doesn't have a readily removable battery like the Note 4. A design flaw is the fact that the head phone jack is on the bottom side instead of the top, but it's no big problem. Newer Note/ Ultra devices lack the headphone jack and have the spen on the left side which sucks. Punch holes stuck too, they are difficult to tape.

My last phone was the Note 9. Now I have the S24 Ultra, believe me the difference is huge. I use the S Pen on a regular basis, it’s great. People ask why I don’t have an I Phone. I tell them if they had a stylus like the S Pen maybe I would. I use what works for me not a fashion statement like a lot of Apple users. I have an I Pad, a Surface Laptop, and a Samsung phone. It works for me.

man the note 9 was my favorite android device to date. I still have it but the screen is cracked. Since it was un-insured I had to to get the 22 ultra almost 2 years ago. I still think the note 9 was a better phone than the s22 ultra. Almost 2 years with the s22 ultra and I just ordered the s24 ultra unlocked and not subsidized. I just switched to the s24 ultra and it's been a week I'm already missing the note 9. Now I need to order usb-c headphones. The note 9 is way thinner and lighter, unlocking on the note 9 is way faster with the fingerprint sensor in the back. From my experience the S24 fingerprint on the front and the face recognition are both slower. The S24 ultra is bulky especially with a wallet case, so no wallet case. Also imo one ui ain't it, I tried to like it for a couple days but I just couldn't and had to change the launcher.

S24 Ultra most complete phone since the Note 9 and in the UK the best trade in deals since the Note 9. Having said that I've bought two brand new Note 9 over last few years. They are getting slow now but great for a media player especially as it has a very decent DAC. I'm going to flash Pixel Experience on my 128GB and keep my 512GB as it is. I've got the Exynos versions but back then they were on par. Most complete phone ever and bring back the Iris scanner (less bothered by the sensors now we have smart watches).

*Looking on possibly upgrading my Note 9 to S24 Ultra*
    *Sees this video*
Wtf, how did this video even... ??
Like I am totally fine with my Note 9. Still working perfectly fine and haven't even replaced the battery ever and somehow its still got really good battery life. Literally the only reason I'm thinking of upgrading right now is because it can't connect to the router's wi-fi 6 5ghz band and is stuck on the slower 2.4ghz band.
Seriously though. I'm pretty sure my Note 9 still has at least another year or 2 in it before the battery really starts to decline and it's really hard to part ways with this fully paid off phone for a new rather expensive monthly bill (or huge upfront cost) when its still actively going strong =P

we wouldn't need to upgrade if Samsung decided to not have e-waste and make them functional in the current days with the most current android, isn't that correct? all things considered isn't that all what it comes down to? so in a sense it's not actually uselessly old but just not current up to date with its firmware? yeah yeah hardware may be on the lower side now but in terms of a average smartphone it's still far above average when you consider the majority of phones that are being used globally.

I additionally have unfortunately oreo 8.1.0 which means I won't update for preservation sakes. and since I do have android 10 on a tablet (with s pen support) it looks garbage up until Android 10 so updating the note 9 to the latest official version is more a downgrade on terms of battery and visual anesthetics and use case with the s spen. for example the tabs switcher on android 8 is way more fun to use with a s-spen.

@@jiffonbuffo reputation is money too. a majority of it in many cases even. and I would presume that someday they may revise these devices and push an update to them to secure their products rather have them withering away. their branding is on it after all. it's in their best interest to polish their branding. at this moment it seems unrealistic, sure, but in the future it's a certain possibility. it's not like they can launch new smartphones endlessly either. might as well have a change of heart in the future and momentarily utilize the vast amounts of resources upon refreshing their pruduct lines.
that's mostly wishful thinking but I still have a hard time believing that not someday they would want to revise their previous devices since so many still use it. specially security patches they should presume indefinitely by law on my whole opinion. resuming security updates isn't hurting anybody. what happens when an exploit gets released that's sooooo abysmal that it could completely, destroy those previous iterations? there's no way they'd stand still when all their branding is compromised on those devices

I got a new Galaxy S22 Ultra from Best Buy last spring for way less than an S23 Ultra, as a treat to myself. I like larger phones and the stylus appealed to me too. I imagine I use less than half of its features. I am not really interested in the AI features of S24 Ultra. I think the only thing that's even slightly lacking in my S22 Ultra is the battery life, which could probably be better, but I can still get a day and a half off one charge. I tried out the S23 Ultra and it really wasn't very different from my phone. I might take a look at the S24 Ultra in a year or two when it's cheaper, but for right now I'm content with my S22 Ultra. Cheers Steve

The only issue on my Note 9 regarding TH-cam was the freezing of the comment section / keyboard stuck. The fix I found for this is to toggle on the Google "floating" keyboard when I want to watch some tube. It resolved all of my freezing issues.

If you care about photography GO FOR IT it is soo oooo much better, and battery is fantastic. If you don't care about those two things than don't bother

Have a note 9, it's started to get slow. Always been a refurb guy on SIM only deals. Tried upgrading to a refurb s23 ultra for a day for £630 and agree with you. Battery life was much better, phone much snappier, camera amazing in comparison. But wasn't hugely impressed overall considering the 5 yr difference. I returned the s23 ultra, and replaced the battery on my note 9, but have realised it is deffo a little slow at this point.
So just bought an S24 ultra 512gb on contract. Subtracting the cost of if I kept my current SIM only plan for the next 24 months, I'm getting the s24 ultra, an extra 270Gb data and free roaming for a total cost of £860. And I get to keep my note 9 as a backup.
At that price, I simply couldn't turn it down.

I think I'll save up for a note 10 plus instead. I do have a note 9 right now but it unfortunately came with the original firmware of oreo 8.1.0 and I don't want to update that. admittedly everything seems way more fitting and fluid on that version compared to the android 10 on my tablet. android 10 doesn't fit with the s pen as good as oreo 8.1.0 does.
anyway I think the android 12 on the note10 plus will be sufficient for the next ten years comfortably for at the very least basic features.
