  • As unfortunate as it is...because I think the Samsung Galaxy Note 9 is one of...if not THE best in the Note series...I do think you should upgrade this year to the Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra...it's time. Take advantage of the experience on the phone this year.

I almost bought a s22 ultra because I took off the whitestone screen protector on my note 9 and the screen was smashed under it. But then I just put tape on the screen. Whitestone doesn't make them any more. Then my morphie juice pack was completely falling apart. I super glued and taped it. But I found some gel screen protector and a new morphie juice case. So I can wait for the S23 ultra now.

@@revaaron backing up to the cloud is super easy. Dropbox gives 2g free. You can access, and save, from any de ice. I expect with a second email address you could get another 2g etc etc.
I use it for my business and pay $20; a month for 1 or 2 Tb. There are competitors for much less. M just too lazy to research hthem properly. It's crazy to risk everything on a fire or burglary... get with the program and reach for the cloud lol,. You can still use the sd card as well if you have vast files and a slow connection, and the upload or download elapsed time is an issue.

Right now I am using and watching this on my note 9, 512gb rom/8gb of ram. I had the note 8, the 7fe, the note 5 and before I had only the s line. Look man, I am a graphic designer, and the note line is without a doubt and no contest THE BEST PHONE for productivity, and That is just one aspect of the many things this device can do. And the Dex feature is something a few people talk about, literally a workhorse as you like to call it.
Sadly, the display is broken and burned and it's time to change it, but honestly is hard to let it go, like I will cry a bit for real when the time comes. The note line is the best thing I can think of in portable devices, it packs all you need, and we, the note users, get really invested in the brand, I think more than Apple fans, is a true master piece.
But right now I have an issue, where I live, Colombia, the prizes for new devices are INSANE, the currency rate conversion is 4 x 1, so we pay a lot more in relation to other places and our income in general puts Samsung far from our reach. The trade in program is very bad too because we have many issues with the black market, people literraly die because thiefs go far and beyond to get such an expensive device and other people keep buying those stolen phones, and yeah they unlock them and swap the IMEI.
My last note will be this 9, I will keep it just because I love it and really got a place in my heart. The S pen is such an amazing tool, the Samsung echo system works flawless, the display, the storage, aw man, is too hard to just get my mind around the idea of not having everything and more in your pocket to get any job done.
Thanks for the advice anyway, much love from Colombia

The Note9 was the perfect Note. Just 2 generations before the end of the lineup. Fixed the issues of the predecessor and introduced more features that made it a truly complete phone. Shame that Samsung messed up the SoC and therefore performance was subpar. But root fixed it for me (though I’m still working on it). It’s a great device. So fast it rivals the Note 20 in raw performance.

The thing about S22 Ultra is there is no microSD card in it, and for me, that kills the deal. I can have a 1TB microSD card in my Note9 for shooting 4K videos. So really hoping that S23 Ultra can bring back the microSD card feature.

I was able to trade it in for $800 off the s22 ultra. I was probably only a year away from the note 9's trade in value reducing by half. Made the switch. Lost a few things but gains and a nice deal outweighed the loss and most can be compensated for with "outside the box" thinking:
    Negatives
    1. No SD card..but got the 512gb version and the SD card was a nuisance to change. Embrace the cloud!
    2. Fingerprint scanner. This one hurts a little. The fingerprint scanner on the back worked better thanthe on screen one. No getting past that.
    3. No headphone jack. Got an adapter off Amazon so no big deal. Bluetooth better in the long run will switch anyway.
    4. Notch. Not as big a deal as I thought it would be. Its mostly used by the notification bar anyway so in actuality it was a gain of screen space because on the note 9 the notification bar is below the blocked area.
    5. No SP02 sensor. Meh..got a smart watch for that now.
    Positives:
    1. Great deal on trade in. Double the regular trade in value at Samsung and even before that, they beat Verizon's trade in price.
    2. 512gb version for price of 256gb version..which was already discounted :).
    3. Camera. Probably the biggest improvement of all. Good trade off for things removed.
    4. Android 12 out of the box. More to come.
    5. Non-carrier phone. No bloatware.

How difficult are the new Samsung flagship phones to repair? I personally know the note 9 is very affordable to repair and replace any component with 3rd party replacement parts. The hardest part is getting the back glass panel off with a heat gun. The phone is very modular and similar to building a lego set. I personally have replaced speakers headphone jacks and backglass with moderate ease. Apple phones are totally unrepairable without Apple support. No 3rd party parts can be used with Apple. Seems like Samsung maybe following the Apple businesses model. Curious about how difficult the new phones are to repair and if the parts need to be registered or specific to the new flagship devices. It would be very neat to see a video on the repairability S22 Ultra vs Note 9 vs Note 10 plus. 🤔

Whereas a Galaxy A72 is around $450 and the A73 is going to be around 500-550. I'll wait for the price to drop and see what's what. Or should I just buy it right away?
