      @ibold1000 I'm starting to feel for Andre and being trapped in that cab with Mr. Truck It seems like he's starting to be sliding down the scale of mental decline. He's beginning to seem like that one uncle who keeps his flask hiding in the tool box of his truck which he visits 3 times per hour.
      This video makes me wish that I had written down the numbers that Gale Banks came up with when they did a Dyno session with their 2024 Duramax to determine the power that's making it to the ground. Time for me to go see if I left my wallet in my Toolbox.

    The exhaust brake is 100% meant to work with cruise. If you set the cruise to 50mph it knows if you're going up or down and how much braking you need. It's magic. Otherwise the truck just has to guess. Set for 50, it'll keep it at 50.

    • @masonryman8183
      @masonryman8183 ปีที่แล้ว

      Isn't that what cruise control does? Lol. A true exhaust brake should be separate and work on its own. Every vehicle with cruise control will maintain whatever speed you set it to and adaptive will regulate speed with traffic and curves. Chevy dropped the ball on its exhaust brake.

Not that crazy steep just so long and high up. The only way to describe it to people is if your truck is a v8 it's like you're on 4 cylinders AND you're towing.

      There is a reason why almost all of these Ike videos are done in the winter. It’s because the manufacturers who lend them the trucks don’t want them to do it the summer. I assume that’s because the manufacturer doesn’t want a video of their truck overheating.

    The Chevy/GMC exhaust brake system works off of cruise control. If you set the cruise control and enable exhaust brake, it will keep you at your cruise control speed. Without cruise control, enabling exhaust brake will downshift earlier that it would otherwise, but it won't keep you at a particular speed.
    As an example, there's a steep hill near me that I can gain significant speed coasting down. I will gain speed down it even if I have exhaust brake turned on. But if I turn on cruise control (even if I'm already doing 10+ over), it will slow me to the cruise control speed and keep me there.

    Another great HD review guys and it's great to see Mr. Truck again, but please put the facial hair back on 😀. I am a proud owner of the 2020 loaded chevy LTZ 2500 HD diesel, and I use it for towing a 8,300 Lb travel trail which is does very well, but best of all it's a very safe vehicle going up and down steep grades and I use the cruise control and the exhaust break for going down hill and it works great and I am saving my breaks the whole way down and I am in complete control of the vehicle. I do love the new interior, new grill, and the new technology that GM has installed in the new 2024 and if I didn't have a 2020 I would certainly look hard this new 2024 HD for sure.

    Trucks now are crazy. I had a 1983 f250 with a 6.9L diesel and it made 160hp and 310tq. I remember hearing a 1994.5 powerstroke start for the first time and wondered if it was going to blow a rod through the block it was so loud.
    My uncle had a 1989 d350 with a Cummins and a case tractors with the same motor. There was no ordering food in a drivethu with the motor running back then.

    That truck is designed for squat, that is why the rear sits up higher than then the front. I would have found a level piece of ground and put a level on it to see if it is going up hill from rear to front. The fact the truck almost ran a perfect time is pretty impressive in my opinion. My 21 High Country was a towing beast, I actually preferred towing with that truck over my Ford. I wish Chevrolet had a little better padding in the seats, I am really interested in the new GMC AT4X HD.

    I can't get enough of these Gauntlet videos, especially with Andre and Mr. Truck teamed up.
    I agree with them hammering GM for the loaded suspension squat. GM needs to get air ride ASAP.

    • @jonmccauley6490
      @jonmccauley6490 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I have a Ford, so I can relate to the loaded squat. If they stiffen the suspension, then every owner complains about a rough ride. The only solution is optional air.

    • @toml1733
      @toml1733 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I disagree that's really not that bad on squat considering the weight it has on it. Plus, if it's stiffer to get less squat, it will ride so rough that would be a complaint. But I do wish they would add auto leveling headlights tied into the amount of squat it does have though to not blind everyone while having a load

    Love these weekly super Ike's. My only suggestion is to find a way to verify fuel mileage for this test. I know you do a follow up test for fuel economy, but my truck, and many trucks you've tested are very optimistic with computer based fuel mileage, especially when towing. I'm very skeptical that the 6.8mpg listed is accurate for this test.

    Always like to see Mr Truck on here.
    I’m thinking something is probably up with the app giving you a 16000 something gooseneck rating because that’s what a gas truck is rated for. So there’s probably something going on there. 19,100 is your rating like the door sticker says.
    Also, GM HD trucks have 36 gallon fuel tanks, as they always have had since atleast the 2011 model. The only exception is 2020+ diesel, double cab, standard bed trucks.
